A new survey has shown that Kiwi women are the most promiscuous in the world, with an average of 20.4 sexual partners.

The survey, by condom-maker Durex, questioned 26 thousand people in 26 countries, and found that New Zealand women's promiscuity average was way above the global average of 7.3.

The poll showed that Kiwi women are up there with Austrian men, who have 29.3 sexual partners, whilst Kiwi blokes rated 11th down the mens list with 16.8.

After the survey, New Zealand emerged as the only country where women have more sexual partners than their men.

However, Family Planning Association chief executive Jackie Edmond said that despite these findings, there is a safe-sex warning hidden in the figures.

"Consistent and competent use of condoms is key to lowering transmission of and infection with STIs (sexually transmitted infections). Young people need strategies to decide if and when to be sexually active," Bang! Showbiz quoted Edmond, as saying.

"They need to negotiate condom use with their partners and make good decisions about their sexual health including regular sexual health checks at facilities such as Family Planning Association clinics," he added.

Durex spokeswoman Kristie Penwarden said that the results would be used by the condom makers to identify inhibitions and pressures in the bedroom.

Who would've thought?

isnt sheep farming a big industry in NZ? ......there's a joke there somewhere

They're still doing something not quite right when they're hugely outnumbered by sheep there. Unless.. D:

Let's all rent a boat and get there cheap.

And now the truth becomes known.

Nowhere in the survey did it state that the sexual partners had to be human.

Mathematically wouldn't number of sexual partners have to equal out? I mean excluding homosexuality, it isn't possible for men to have more sexual partners than women on average because for every encounter that a man lists, there is a woman somewhere who also had that encounter. Theoretically, the true numbers would have to match. I am guessing that men are over-reporting and women are under-reporting, except in New Zealand.

Not at all. That law only applies in a 1 on 1 basis. Since the same person can occur multiple times in all statistics, the numbers don't have to equal out. One man could account for one of every womans sexual partners, for instance. Respect to him if he did.

Unless there are more men than women, and the women could always be having sex with people outside of the country.

No, it still works out to the same average. Say you have 1000 men and 1000 women and all of the women only sleep with 1 lucky guy. The women all report 1 partner each (him), the guy reports 1000 partners. The total for men is 1000, the total for women is 1000 and the average for each is 1.

For New Zealand, the number is roughly 20:16 for women. For the numbers of partners to be so different within a country, you would have to have a significant portion of your female population traveling to other countries and, and having sex multiple times and then returning. 1/5 of the female population would have to have sex outside of the country once and, none of the males are traveling and having sex, and there are no females traveling into the country and having sex (Or at least no greater than the number of males).
