Me too. The only thing really stopping me from getting the PS3 when it hits the streets is the price--my god its high!!! I can get a Wii and a DS and games for both before I meet the $600+ for just the PS3 alone! Still, it looks like its going to have the games that I want this generation, so I will have to bite the bullet sometime (but probably not til mid next year...or whenever Assassin's Creed comes out! :E).

Same here, I gotta have the new grand turismo hd game.

I have never owned anything other than a sony machine (PS1, PS2, PSP) I never even owned a game-boy from Nintendo.. But, for the first time, i'll probably buy a 360 (for gta4), maybe a Wii, since it's really cheap.

It's like 3 things:

(LOW) Wii - Really cheap, but not that good graphics in games, and no features (Not amazing ones, anyways)

(MEDIUM) 360 - Average price, good graphics, lots of features.

(HIGH) PS3 - Huge Price, Amazing Graphics, Tons of features, and Metal Gear Solid 4.

I'll probaby buy a Wii in a few years when there like $50 off of a friend or soemthing... for now PS3 way to high priced, so I'll get a 360.

All this is happening after I get a new PC, of course.

What features does the 360 have over the Wii?

I wont ignore you.
But yeah if I get to rip a barbie girls arm off and a top of blood starts spraying everywhere and I can yell out
"DIE BARBIE DIE LOOK WTF YOU CAUSED YOU DIRTY BITCH HAHAHAHAHA"
Then yeah sure.

nevermind...that was stupid..lol..

The 360 dosen't really interest me that much. :\

Me either.

Until Microsoft starts getting a large selection of games that are actually worth a damn, my disinterest will continue.

The PS3 is last on my list at the moment. That's not to say I think it looks bad, infact the opposite is true, just that I can't wait for the wii and am already enjoying the 360 a great deal. There's also quite a few 360 games coming out tha i'm eager to get my hands on.

If I can include the pc as a next gen system, that would be last on my list - there are just too few decent pc games (or at least ones that I enjoy) these days. It is also offering poorer value for money than ever before. Never again will I spend £350 on a gfx card for it to feel dated in under 6 months.

Fair enough, except that, as of now, developers say that there's no graphical power difference between the XBox 360 and PS3. That is to say, the PS3 will not win on graphics alone.

QFT. I'm going to be completely honest. I want all of the systems (who wouldn't??!) However, I am probably going to buy a 360 when the price gets dropped, since there are 15 games for this system that I want coming out this year, and several that are already out that I must have. I am considering a PS3 in about 5 (or more?!) years when they are around $279 for the 60GB version, which seems to be the only good version since it is the only one with HDMI, as long as it has a library of games that I want. I am also seriously considering a Wii depending on just how fun it is. (I want to try it first)

From what I've read, a few of the top developers have said that Microsoft is making the 360 easier to work with than the PS3, the graphics power of both systems is about the same , which is pretty extreme, and others have said that the PS3 is slightly more powerful, although it will be many years before that power is tapped anyway, and also the difference in power doesn't really mean jack shit because "the systems have plenty of power to do whatever the developer wants" and also that the graphics potential of these two complex console systems will evolve for the entire time games are made for them (many years)- as the programmers get better at that particular system. And the last part, "graphics alone" exactly right. It's all about the games. The console is merely the canvas, the game is the art.

the downloadable content for GTA 4 will most likely be mostly cosmetic: new clothes, cars, areas etc

Since when are new areas, or even cars a cosmetic change? I couldn't classify that as cosmetic no matter how biased I tried to be.

But at least the X360 gets GTA 4 AND as a bonus, exclusive content. I know you are considering a Wii, as many of us are, but the Wii won't even get the game. Where will you play it? I wouldn't be so quick to say, "I'll just get it for PC", these console deals are vicious and long lasting. You can't say for sure if or when it will ever come out, and unless there is a big PC market (which I hate to say has been dying hardcore thanks to consoles), the PC may get a shitty, half-assed, low budget port.

To use something like the Wii properly, it seems like you need a stadium size living room. How many of you can picture yourselves standing around waving your magic controller?

btw people let's not forget that Vista will allow to play against X360 users. For some games anyway.

I'll just move the coffee table outta the way. Problem solved.

What features doesn't the Wii have that the PS3/Xbox does? The Wii will have online play, a market place to buy FULL games. The controller is a great feature in itself. For the first time we can interract with a game in FULL 3D.
I'm not sure it can play DVD's or not... but i doubt it will. But how many DVD players do you have in your house? Off the top off my head i have... about 10 DVD players. So I don't care for playback features in any console.

Just don't shrug off the Wii yet :p

As more of E3 goes on, I just don't see any heat from PS3 except for maybe MSG4 and Assassin's Creed. Show some in-game footage for both already darn it! (I mean player-controlled, I know MSG's cinematics are attained from in-game engine.)

I don't give a hoot about any console x360, Nintendo, PS3, meh, I hope they all go to hell:flame: . As for the games, well... every title that's being released exclusively for consoles, man I hate that.

Why would you need something like a stadium sized room? You don't even have to move your feet.

You don't have to move your feet. Tell me that after standing still for a while.

Kyo said:

You could just play it sitting down. I have a relatively small apartment and I already know how we could easily split up 4 players, 2 on the couch (one at each end), one on the loveseat and one on our recliner. Nobody would hit each other as they are all at least 3 feet apart.

I hope that magic wand/controller/penguin feature is optional, I can't just bare letting people watch my play on a controller like that.

Im really leaning towards PS3 cause when it really comes down to it, its all about the games, and I know I will get bored with the nintendo games, need for speed carbon, grand turismo hd, metal gear solid sequel, GTA Sequel, by far the best controller. Free online play, best graphics. Only down point I can think of is the insane pricetag.

As for the wii, they really should have kept the revolution for the name, I can't imagine telling my friends, "hey wanna come check out my wii" that aside, lets talk about the games, ok im drawing a blank here on what I acctually really want to play, maybe mario for a while and a resident evil sequel, maybe a F-Zero sequel. Im sure theres a few games im leaving out but surely nothing that rings out I MUST have, well besides a mario kart rehash.

I think Nintendo should stop with the damn Mario. It was good for a while, but now it's old. Nintendo whould make new games, instead of sticking with re-done SNES titles (Metroid, Mario, Kart racers, ect.)

Very much agreed,

I've been saying that for 15 years. What in the hell>?! Please go away donkey kong, Mario, etc.

But apparently, Mario is the most popular video game mascot of all time, so I guess we are the minority, and I guess they won't be getting rid of him any time soon.

Yeah, I definatly agree. I'm not at all interested in any of these Mario games because Mario is so worn out it's not even funny. It's like gum you've been chewing on all day. EA gets so much crap for milking their franchises (and they deserve every bit of it tbh) but people are somehow ok with almost every Nintendo game being Mario & co., Zelda, etc. As a matter of fact, all of the upcoming games I've been looking out for this E3 are new franchises like Crysis, Bioshock, Prey, STALKER, and Spore. This is actually a relatively good year for non-sequel games. Usually all the AAA titles at E3 are sequels, maybe awesome sequels, but sequels none the less.

Without Mario gaming wouldn't be what it is today. He basically carried the future of videogames on his shoulders for a quite a while...and when Super Mario 64 came out he basically left everyone in awe. You think that Nintendo would let of such a mascot/symbol after all this time?

Mario Bros. started out as a co-op arcade game back in like 1980. I didn't like this game. This was before Super Mario Bros. which had various games for the NES, SNES, N64, Game Bo, Game Cube, DS, and Wii.

So we are talking like 26 years they have been using Mario.

As a programmer, I can relate. There was a game that is special to me from the 80's, and every time I go to create a game, it is a remake of this game. I want to make it better. Better graphics, better game-play. This is what they are doing. They are like wow OK, we have this powerful graphics or great controller, what can we make Mario do this time? It's Nintendo's icon.

Honestly, I only think it would be worse if instead of Mario, they had some Soldier or ninja in there. Mario is like Godzilla. A fictional character that has powers, and people like him.

Besides, imagine a Mario game - now replace Mario with something else and it just wouldn't be a Nintendo game anymore. The reason people like these games are because they are high-quality. Mario is their seal of quality, a constant reminder, assuring you that you are going to have fun.

we'd be absolutely fine without mario, sure, he's popular as heck but he hasn't exactly inspired developers world wide for years.

Comparing Nintendo to EA is a little unfair. Sure, Nintendo do use the same characters again and again, but the games they churn out are damn good, and always feel new/fresh. EA craps out the same garbage over and over. Big difference.

Yeah, Nintendo use trademarked characters in a wide variety of different styles of games, Nintendo games evolve.

EA's games are more creationalist...

Not interested in the Nintendo P!ss (sorry) in the slightest since i've never really been a fan of Nintendo (except for the Zelda series when i was younger).

Not really interested in Halo 3 atm, and unless it turns out at least as good as the first (i.e. waaaaay better than the second) then i won't be.

Everything i've seen so far regarding the PS3 is still pretty meh, but i'm still looking forward to it (though i doubt i'll be an early adopter).

Most of the rest is all good.

A new version of mario golf would be great with the revolution controller.

PS3 and XBOX360 are going (and currently) sucking.
Wii will own all...

Yeh :) I've always loved Mario Golf, even the less than stellar GC version. It should be fantastic with the wii.

Mario Bros i think is a good game, but all after Mario World are just plane boring.

Philistine! Yoshi's Island and Mario 64 are superb (and on par with SMB3 and SMW imo). Infact, Mario 64 is in my top 3 games of all time :)
