We all know that the hl community means a lot to valve - just think about spitcodfry's little escapde and gabes email answering. To leave it this late and still be sticking to the sept 30th date proves only one thing...

Valve are not telling us anything because they dont want us to know anything. They want us, the harcore HL fans, to go into the game without any pre-conceptions or having seen any spoliers.

I think that is brilliant, and as much as we all hate it you have to take your hat off to Valve.

Not only are we all busting to play it like nothing else ever, but we are also in for a revolutionary, new gaming experience without any ides of what's going to happen when we play it.

Just imagine what is going to happen after you first click play...

I cant even begin to - and that there is the magic that valve has created for us.
 
I can understand not revealing any more vids or screenshots, but they could tell us more about the Steam subscriptions, the different packages for HL2, and how purchasing over Steam will work. I honestly don't want anymore screenshots, etc., because I too want to play the game from a blank slate, but why aren't they telling us about this other stuff that won't alter the game experience but would be very important for a game set to come in 7 days?
 
Thats not important, they can give us that info on the date of the release.
 
They have been awfully close-lipped on things that dont involve spoilers.
And does this count as a delay thread?
 
ive never wanted a delay announcement so badly. and then i want it to come out on the 30th even more badly.
 
put it this way.

the closer to the 30th without news the more likely its on time.


said it a hundered times before.......

delaying the game 3 weeks from luanch is a lot lot lot more inteligent than saying

"sorry guys next year" a week from luanch.
 
I just want to know 100% for sure what's going on. Me hopes that those still hoping for the 30th are right because I don't have much faith in that date right now.
 
If it's still supposed to be out on the 30th, then Valve HAVE NOTHING TO ANNOUNCE.
They really don't have to make an official statement every time some clueless retailer changes its release date. Why should THEY be punished for other peoples' idiocy?
However, if it IS delayed and they haven't said a word, there'll be a HUGE fan backlash and that's the LAST thing Valve wants, as we all know. Valve value us, remember?
 
Well the sticky wicket is that theres not just retailers acting insane...Vivendi itself is saying stuff. I would think that warrents a new announcement.
 
You will notice that there haven't been any eMail replies (at least no one is posting them in the Official News from Valve) for at least 2 days...

I think that they are working thier butts off to get it out by their self imposed deadline and are just focused on doing that... We won't hear anything until they are done.
 
it would be so hilariously sweet if gabe just started a new thread with a pic atatchment and it was the valve team underneath a HL2 GOLD banner.


i realy need to find something to do.......

Being tight-lipped about storyline and gameplay elements is fine. Being tight-lipped about the release date when there is so much confusion is annoying.

Of course, Valve has said numerous times that the game will be released on September 30, but since people seem inclined to not believe them, perhaps Valve doesn't see the point of reaffirming the date yet again. Perhaps they're just laying low and will let their actions speak for themselves when they make good on their promise and get the game to shelves by the 30th.

Or perhaps they're just being a bunch of bastards by not mentioning that they're horribly behind schedule and don't have a chance in hell of making a September 30 release.

I guess we'll know in a week.

If I don't have it in my hands and installed by Oct 1st, this crowbar is going through my skull.

I can see a nerd suicide wave if the game isn't out on the 30th.
 
What crowbar? The only one i know about is the one on my bus...:upstare: :thumbs:
I still think its coming out on the 30th. Why? same reason as the others believe. Valve isnt announcing anything because there is nothing to announce...everything is (hopefully) going as planned. my only concern is how the heck theyre going to mass produce a few thousand copies and ship them in less that one week.....


P.S. There is really a crowbar just sitting there on my bus....

either

A. its already gold and lotsa factories are stamping cd's

or

B. theyre going to send several gold discs to different countries so they dont have to ship the thousands of CD's



my bets on B.
 
We all know if they are gonna make the 30th they have nothing to announce, although something needs to be said to retailers to clear the confusion of the november release. Valve needs to get some communication with vivendi.
 
Not announcing anything and their is 1 week left till the 30th in my mind cutting it a little close
 
I am a bit surprised that it hasn't been leaked yet. I don't know of ANY game that wasn't leaked before release.

This leads me to believe that it isn't 'gold' yet. Oh well, Had my heart set on the 30th.... :(

errr....mass produce a few thousand? try several hudred thousand copies or even millions of copies.
 
A week to the day. If it's delayed, well... it seems that I will lose a lot of respect for that company.
 
An official statement from valve saying the game is going to be on time, and they have cleared the issues with vivendi, would sure clear ANY confusion
 
I don't care really...
I won't get it until Thursday at BEST...the wonders of living in the boondocks...
 
What is valve waiting for until monday the 29th to say something? That isnt exactly the best idea

It does seem strange. Maybe they're just getting a kick out of all of us with our panties in an uproar, but you'd expect them to be a little more clear on what's going on.
 
But didn't Gabe Newell promise the person who went to Vavle that they will start sending the game out as of September 23rd and there would be an annocounment will be on the 22nd. All I want is a News post saying HL2 goes GOLD.
 
Gabe did say they'd notify stores/public when the game was done and stores so that they'd know to expect it.
 
I trust gabe, when he sayed that they will inform us when it would be gold, he is going to say it . I think tommorow there will be ''big'' news ;)
 
I have a feeling that a Half-Life 2 delay won't actually be announced beforehand - it will just kind of not come out on the 30th.
 
from a PR perspective that would seem to be stupid, but tht doesn't mean it couldn't happen. I'm sure at the Tokyo Game SHow (this friday) or on the 30th at the ATI show, someone will have to have asked them what's the dealio if it's not already addressed by them.
 
yep, i just have a premonition that something like that will happen
 
i know delaying a game and not saying anything is possible but valve would be alienating their customers, not to mention their fanbase
