No news > good news

We all know that the hl community means a lot to valve - just think about spitcodfry's little escapde and gabes email answering. To leave it this late and still be sticking to the sept 30th date proves only one thing...

Valve are not telling us anything because they dont want us to know anything. They want us, the harcore HL fans, to go into the game without any pre-conceptions or having seen any spoliers.

I think that is brilliant, and as much as we all hate it you have to take your hat off to Valve.

Not only are we all busting to play it like nothing else ever, but we are also in for a revolutionary, new gaming experience without any ides of what's going to happen when we play it.

Just imagine what is going to happen after you first click play...

I cant even begin to - and that there is the magic that valve has created for us.

http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8871 I dont think Valve (Gabe) would just get us all superhyped and then WHAM dissappoint us all and not give us HL2.

Honestly, I'd rather know it was delayed than think it'll be released on the 30th and then not come... so good news OR bad news > no news.

**** STEAM !

This is completely irresponsable ! Delaying a game because of STEAM ?
That does it for me !

*raises eyebrow*

well if they wanted to keep it a suprise they wouldnt have shown any media...not telling when its released is a different stratagy then not showing it to save things.

heres the correct way, say when its comming out and then not show anything,

wrong way - show stuff and then get everything in a tizzy with release dates

of course, they aare keeping all mulitplayer a secret and most of the game, so its a little bit of both i guess

iono.... too much hope, not enuff fact....

ill wait until 11:59:59 tonight. then i have lost hope as well

I know this marketing strategy works perfectly (if really annoying) for us, the half life fans, but you reckon it works at all for those people that are casual gamers (sinners)? i mean if I didn't come here or browse around looking for info I doubt I would even know it exists.

my status on the situation is basicly:

As the topic states...no news = good news....

because surely to GOD they wouldn't wait until monday to announce the delay...or even now it's so damn late to announce a delay..but then again, they CAN do whatever the hell they want pretty much...people are still gonna buy this game.

I don't work for Valve, nor for Vivendi. I'm simply a partner who will deliver files via Steam and host Steam games when HL2 will be out.

When it will be out? I can't tell. All I can say is that the multiplayer part is READY (Yes, READY) and it's WORKING (Yes you can play it, kill monsters etc).

Why would you be able to kill monsters in multiplayer? Valve aren't doing co-op, correct?

I can't play, sorry. My server is ready and some people are playing on it (2-3 per days) but I can't play neither :(

No, my issue was that you said you can kill monsters, which I took to mean as zombies, head-crabs, combine soldiers, ant lions, etc. Ie. AI monsters. But of course, if you've only got multiplayer, why would you be able to kill these monsters, since there is no co-op?

If by monsters you meant other players, then ok, but you're wording made me think otherwise.
