Official Bad Company 2 thread - no beta talk here!

Got everything to work but Battlefield 1943. Up to Veteran 4 status.

Gets you the Thompson I think. EA needs to fix their ****ing stupid ass website to let people link their xbox gamertags and EA Classic names to their accounts.

M1 Garand, actually. Yeah, the website is a buggy piece of shit. I spent several hours resubmitting my keys before they were accepted. Kept getting the "Your CD Key has already been claimed" shit continuously.

Nice. I can't remember the name I used for BF2 and Special Forces. dis sux

game uses exactly the same formulas as bc2, ima sum up with you just suck at learning things outside of your comfort zone.

that's fine, dawgs don't have thumbs i guess. it's cool man

Whats the "formulas" got to do with anything? I'm saying a controller sucks for playing shooters. And its got nothing to do with "learning" to use a controller, a mouse and keyboard will always be better than a controller for shootan gaems.

I actually agree with Krynn. Seeing the rest of the world (Non-Internet) just now learn about "Epic", "Fail", and Failblog is painful.

Exactly.

the formula - ie all the things that make bc2 so fun - are all still there, i just think it's odd you thought it sucked because of the controls. fine, have your preference between the two, but at the end of the day there's no harm in using the setup you don't prefer and still enjoy something, esp. since it takes like 10 minutes to adjust. i can't stand using a mouse and keyboard myself, but if i have to use them so that i can enjoy what really matters, **** it i'll use them.

there's a real pointless divide between the two and i don't quite get it. i like to think i'm pretty adapt with the both of them, because i respect the different platforms.

Personally I do better with a controller than a mouse and keyboard. Its how I played through STALKER: SHOC and Republic Commando with no issue.

So i have a DX11 video card... and this game is going to support DX11.... hmmm... now i just need some money...

edit: I can now run Crysis on Very High and not experience any lag. So hopefully this game will be just as pretty.

edit2: Epic.

The last console shooter that i was able to enjoy playing with a controller was GoldenEye 64.
The unique 'stop and shoot' aiming system is what made the game fun to play and not much of a headache unlike the majority of today's console shooters. Playing a shooter with a controller feels way too clunky for me nowadays. I will always prefer playing with a mouse and keyboard.

What helps, at least with MW2, is the zoom feature that automatically puts your cross-hairs over your enemy as long as you zoom in the correct, general direction. I like this feature since it makes having to use a controller a bit easier. Though, if I could, I'd use a mouse/keyboard but my laptop isn't top-notch enough for the latest PC games.

I can't stand autoaim. Takes the fun out of killing. Kept it off at all times in BC1. It hurt more than it helped imo.

that thing was terrible. i remember in both tutorials for the MW games they had that, and not once in either campaign can i remember ever using it. i wouldn't intentionally anyway, but i can't even remember a time when i did it by accident.

that thing really took the piss when it came to autoaim. always turn any kind of assist off straight away.

I'm not sure whether to buy this or not. First, I won't have much time; I'll have to study for my freshmen year, what with 20 credit-hours per *day and whatnot. Secondly, the beta was laggy, and my location won't help the ping unless in a US server. Thirdly, I'm afraid of getting bored with it quickly like I did with a lot of games. Then again, it's a BF game, which means I'll last at least 2 ~ 3 months with it.

Buy it.

I might impulse buy, but you know, I don't have much money, and it's going to be hard to get a job along with schoolwork.

I want to make sure that it's worth the $29 ~ $32, and for weekend use only.

It's not an impulse buy if t's premeditated. You've already bought it, the next step is admitting it and going without dinner for a few nights :cheese:

Ya, go eat Ramen or something. It also appears EA download maanger and Direct2Drive both have the pre-load that happened yesterday. Yet again though Steam fails to deliver. This was also commented by one of the dev's:
FYI the full game will be a ~7GB download.

Back when we had to specify the disk usage (to be announced on websites and printed on the box), the game was nearly 9GB - and when installing DD version from other places than Steam you usually need to have *both* the installation archive and the finished install present on your harddrive at the same time during the installation process. Plus, future patches may eat some of your diskspace. After a bit of hand waving we ended up with 10GB space for disc version, 15GB space for DD version.

Yeah, **** food. I'll get it a week or two after its release over here.

Still no pre load. Steam/Valve is doing everything at the last minute as usual.

Who says they're even allowed to let us preload? D2D might have cut some kind of deal with EA.

Can't decide whether to buy this. I got battlefield 2 and didn't play because of the PB issues that I gave up on fixing... I was a top of the line BF1942 (where's BF1492) fanboy and even played Forgotten Hope like a champion. I probably will just because I haven't bought a game at release in a while... except for L4D2...

Just convinced my brother to pre-order. :D Theres going to be a lot of people playing tomorrow!

Also, preload soon.

We are still working on the Steam preload. Currently there are some installation issues which we are trying to fix.

Also,
The full installed game is about 6GB. the "15GB" figure is what you get when you have to guess the total size early during development, and also need to take into account that for non-Steam download channels the player will at one point during installation have both the installer-archive and the installed game present on the harddrive at the same time.

I think it unlocks at 5 PM tomorrow for me. Great...

2 days and 7 hours here. Which is still a long time, but not as long as Digi has to wait. :')

Not sure to pre-order this.. its £35 on Steam and I get the convieniance of it being a digital copy.. but I can order it for £25 from play or something.. and im not sure how it'll run on my aging rig :/

dammit, where's my preload? my internet is going to take a little while to download it.

Enthusiast gamers? Please. Enthusiasts would use a single 30" monitor.

2560x1600. Monitor edges would drive me bloody insane in an FPS.

Pretty whack, bought it through steam and it came with no preload and this game wont be out till mid day. With the massive ass download which everyone will be accessing at the same time I probably wont play this till tomorrow. Shitty.
