What it says. I voted BF2, with Silent Hunter III as runner up.

EDIT And, yes, this is a PCGOTY poll. Take ur consoles elsewhere. :p

BF2, F.E.A.R. runner up.

Thinking about it, this year's been a little crap in terms of good games.

There 3 original titles among the nine I posted. Sequels are never good news.

BF2- it's the only game in that list that I own.

Agreed. Battlefield 2 for me, its not the greatest game ever, but its fun. Haven't touched it for weeks though.

I voted Battlefield 2, but I really think Day of Defeat: Source was.

like the game Hazar and I both are psyched about, Supreme Commander! and spore.

I haven't played it in a month or so. I don't know why, because when I actually play I really enjoy it, but I always just shrug it off when thinking about playing. I do this with a lot of games now, really... my gaming-drive has really diminished lately :hmph:

Exactly the same circumstances here. I did play DoD: S for a while, but I just stopped playing games all together for some reason. I think its because I'm too lazy to reach for the BF2 CD and waiting for it to load.

i tell myself that every year... and the same thing happens again

Personally, I say Shadow of the Collosus, which is the only game that actually kept me interested and challenged me - everything else was either too easy or felt cheap and pissed me off

oh, and I dunno about everyone else, but BF2 got real boring after about a month or so

Man, I just realised how few games I actualy play, meh. FEAR anyway.

I voted F.E.A.R., just because I think it's much more laudable than BF2 (even though I've spent far more time on the latter)

Yeah, I thought DoD: S was excellent but I've only played it for about 5 hours total. What's bloody wrong with us? We need therapy or something, I swear.

Both of you, start playing with me.

My xfire is ennuisatyagraha.

I don't think this year was too bad, lots of fairly good sequels. In other words if you didn't find any new game enjoyable on PC this year then I think it's time to leave gaming or take a good look at your standards :p

Guild Wars was pretty fun for a while but I have to choose GTA:SA.

Hmm, gotta be BF2 for me, despite peoples complaints, it comes out top.
DoD Source in second, barely play it, but blame BF2 for that.

Can't comment on others in the list, don't have em or played em yet

I think it was pretty poor. And what made it poor was the fact that Half Life 2 raised the bar sooo much (not that I'm complaining!)

...Half-Life 2 was good not great...
I don't see that it raised anything... It just slightly improved upon the FPS formula.

Anyways, Off-topic much. Sorry.

Get ready for a flame.

I voted BF2 just because of it's array of gameplays, the interaction between players and overall fun-ness.

I voted Silent Hunter, its the best of the ones i've played considering I havent got Civ 4 yet. (bring on christmas!)

Battlefield 2. I haven't played it in ages but it is a great game.

ahem half life 2 cough

anyway I might have to say FEAR..I have BF2 but it just lags so friggin much that I can never get a good game in (and on a 6800 GT 256 mb card w/ a 3700+ AMD Athlon 64, and 1.5 gig of RAM, lagging like that in a game is just unacceptable..otherwise I would probably give it goty)

and Im getting call of duty 2 for xmas hopefully

ARGH! Why did I forget RE4??? That's my obvious pick! I've beaten it over 16 times (no joke) with EVERYTHING unlocked. It's amazing.

Easily RE4, pretty much the only game I've played this year. :p

i have not played most games in that list and only own two titles from that list.
i guess BF is my choice although i did not like it as much as everyone else seems to and Fear i just got and haven't played it enough to say if its GOTY.

This is PC-only you guys.

Tally in another vote for F.E.A.R.

When did WoW come out?.

That's the only pc game I play these days

in that case, Need For Speed: Most Wanted - most fun I've had on the PC this year, and my Cobalt SS is pimped out to the MAX!

1. F.E.A.R hands down.
2. Condemned: Criminal Origins
3. Still Life

I don't know whether you're joking or not... ??

It 'slightly' improved upon the FPS formula??

Sorry, but it has revolutionised the FPS world, and it has set the benchmark for every over FPS since. And all have failed to even match it - and we are over a year past it's release.

One of the easiest ways for other games to surpass it is graphically - and IMO no game has done that, and most agree with that.

Secondly, no game has met the standards set in terms of realism, particularly in terms of interactive physics.

Oh, and I do not believe this is going far off-topic, as it is highlighting the very reason I voted 'Other'

how did it 'revolutionise' the fps world ?

i voted civ iv; aoe3 and cod2 would have been my second choices.

HL2 does many things well, very well infact. But I found the fighting to be quite dull, simple, and the game far too easy. Many other fps have done combat far better, including some pretty old console fps. I also found little replay value, and haven't been tempted to go back and see the sights again (for the reasons above)

More an evolution than a revolution, and only in a few areas. If HL2 sets any benchmarks it's in the story telling, the superb cutscenes and high level of production.
