No, it really doesn't. The thing about EVE is that you're not necessarily a pwn machine in a battleship (the class of ship in the video) unless you have the skills to fly it well. I have the skills to fly the Caldari state's Tier 3 battleship, the Rokh, after only about 3 months of playing. However, the difference is I can't fly it well at all. I'd need to train many more skills to unleash it's full potential.

I assure you, it would take far less than 2 years to fly a battleship well. In 2 years you could probably train all relevant skills to level 5. In 2 years, you'd be flying Carriers and Dreadnoughts.

This.

It only took me about 2-3 months to get that ship, but then another half month to fitt it well, and im far from using its full potential. The game takes time, its just something you either love or hate.

That is a Tier 3 Gallente Battleship. If you started out with as Gallente, you could probably fly it decently in a few months. Depends how focused you were with your skills.
 
So when is our first pvp expidition? What eve time is good for people. I'm genearly good around 2100 eve time but would also need to travel to corp location.

This would be a cheap expidition so crusers + frig's any ship you can afford to lose!
 
I tried it and played for the 21 day Steam trial. Even got joined a Corp, got decced and fought some skirmishes and sieges.

But ultimately I found the combat system is boring. F1-F8. Battles often pre-decided based on ship, fitting and skills.
 
I'd love to play but like most MMOs, the monthly price becomes exorbitant after several months of play.

Thats what its all about, coming up with good tactical fits. There are thosands of ways to fit ships so finding good combo's can be a really good fun challenge.

Ah, that's where we differ. I found it fun for a little while but it got old pretty quickly.

Would 1300-1400 eve time on weekends be a good time for pvp op's?
 
iv just reactivated my old account, but im miles away from you (down in Arera) you got any offices down this way? as I dont fancy hauling all my ships up there.
 
The corp just started, we only have offices in Aramachi, so you better drag your damn ass over here.
 
**** THIS GAME! It's fun now and is like crack to me. :LOL: Every time I would pick Special Forces and it would send me to a warp gate to these pirates that were high level. They would constantly kill him. So now I picked the Soldier class and it's so much fun now. Unfortunately Far Cry 2, and L4D are due. Maybe in due time I will play. Thanks Stormy btw.

The thing is though hool10 is that picking your class at the start only defines the skills you start with, from there you can train in any direction or learn any skill to allow you to do anything!

And secondly EVE dosn't stop you from playing other games because you don't feel like you need to be on the game 24/7 grinding! Just put on a nice 20 day long skill and go play farcry! That's what I'm planning on doing anyrate. I want t2 energy weapons and a harbinger xx

Also, I want to arrange our first PVP for this weekend, either saturday or sunday depending on when my parents are coming to visit me (fitting some blinds for me!). We will be flying crusers, frigs or what ever you can AFFORD TO LOSE! We don't want anyone becoming bankrupted over a small pvp expiditon.

The problem here is people are from all over the world so we need to know what eve time is good for people to play, for me 10:00 - 17:00 is good! What time is good for other people?! Lets get this sorted we dont have long before the weekend.
 
Where are most of the members from who are in the corp (UK, USA)? and are you going to be recruiting just certain areas?
 
I say the corp should be for all, the more we get in the more fun we should have

Yeah only just learned tho, am learning high speed maneuvering lvl 3 ATM so I can use better drives.

It's always a good idea to fit a MWD for pvp. I have a pretty decent rupture setup with webs/scram and some hardners and auto-cannons. 2 of us should do some decent damage :)
 
If you own a Hurricane, it is necessary to do the following...

Get lasers, tractors beams and call your ship The Star Destroyer.

On a serious note, don't put lasers on a Minmatar ship, ever. Artillery weapons (what Minmatar use) are generally agreed to be underpowered. I'm fairly certain CCP is working on balancing that out, however.
 
Yes. That's one of the few Minmatar ships I would ever fly. Unfortunately Minmatar are the "hardest" race in the game. Their ships take a lot more skills to conquer them fully and currently I have none.

Some of you may already know about this handy little tools others may not but I'll post up the link here as its well worth the download if you don't

Eve Fitting Tool! Bascily the tool allows you to load up all your character skills and then select ships and work out setups. It will give you a ton of information such as "effective HP", DPS, resistances. I have used a few others in the past but this one seems pretty damn good.

It means you can work out how to fit a ship for free rather then spending millions in trial and error.
