I won't need another trial, I bought the full game when it was 10 bucks, still 14 days left of my trial though. But I noticed there are 3 total slots for character creations yeah? I assume you can transfer isk from one profile to another?

If you want to be useful but aren't much into the pewpew you could train to fly logistics ships as a fairly long-term goal while you do exploration or whatever in the meantime.

That definitely sounds more interesting to me. I just wasn't crazy about the combat at all so far; two ships circling around each other until one explodes, meh.

You can only have 1 character training at any time ZT though. What you are looking to do I think is PVE or missions. Your going to want to max out your attributes for certain skills. Skills use attrib points and say Weapon Upgrades uses Perception as primary and Memory as secondary. Then you would max those out. You can only remap your attrib once every year though so you need a skill plan. Use a program called "EveMon" to do this as it will tell you where to put your points. Try not to do every profession though or else you will train very slowly. *EveMon will also use yor API key to tell you various stats about your character while your not playing. Your wallet, what you are training, how long the current skill is nearing completion, and other items of interest are displayed.

New character creator is pretty neat, but I am saddened beyond belief that I can no longer put random metal plates across my Caldari gentleman's face.

The new Character Creator certainly has taken away a lot of personality. I can't tell if the intent was a more subtlety or just laziness on the developer's part. Looking at most new people's Avatars, everyone just kinda looks like regular dudes with space vests.

Is there any word if they are going to add more features? I was reading about the "grace period" and it makes absolutely no sense; they are not allowing you to re-alter your new character.... so why is it called a grace period? How is that different from any other time.

If you're playing with the creator and want to make sure your avatar is perfect, since you're going to live with it for quite a while. And you will get a chance to do it over once since they didn't make it clear that "save" was actually "finalize." The grace period is just a time when you don't have to make a new one right away. After the grace period you will be forced to make a new avatar.

As for personality with the creator, I think it's leaps and bounds ahead of the old one. Each avatar is unique, and you'd be extremely hard pressed to find two that exactly alike. The portrait creator can show the general personality of the pilot as well. I've seen portraits that are just an entire face in the picture, with no view of the background. Why wouldn't they look like regular dudes?

Does your race restrict you from what ships you can use/buy? Like, can a Gallente not get a Minmatar or Amarr ship?

Nope, I'm Caldari and fly Amarr almost exclusively.

Finally finished the basic fighting tutorial. I am really surprised how many ships they have given me during my tutorials, I must have gotten like, seven by now. Do ships get destroyed often? Or are some just dirt cheap?

T1 frigates are cheap as hell. They may seem like significant investments in the beginning of the game, but you soon come to realize how infinitely replaceable they are.

Kept reminding me all week that I could edit my character again for some reason. So I decided I wanted to tweak my portrait, and I did. When I log in this is the image I see, but when I actually get in game it is still the previous portrait. Has this happened to anyone? Does it just take a while to show up?

So I am done with the training. The only thing I didn't finish all of was exploration, because I had to do a couple of probe scanning jobs, the first went fine, but the second time oh my god after two hours of that boring crap, I am done, don't ever ask me to use probes to scan some shit unless it means a billion dollars or something. Goddamn could they make scanning anymore frustrating?

Anyways, if anyone is up for dragging me along in some sort of real mission, let me know.

My alliance keeps getting wardecced by really bad merc griefers but we keep humiliating them thanks to good fleet command and dogged determination.

I'm buzzing atm, just cooling down from a solid assist on a Navy Megathron kill worth 1.3 billion ISK. It was the work of just me and one other guy, but he had three different battleship toons in play in the fight, while I was neuting and tracking disrupting in my Pilgrim. 10% damage contribution though

So I don't understand what I do with all these junk ships I have at this training station. Do I just take the one I need, and leave the rest there? And do I just go back to that station if I need one for something? Also, can I just leave shit tons of items at a station as well? Will they stay there forever?

Yep, I've got things scattered across the galaxy. You can just leave them there, but when I last got through the tutorial I just melted everything to scrap that I didn't need and sold the minerals.

I have two Curses, one shield- and one armour-tanked, but so far I'm enjoying the Pilgrim more tbh. The covert ops cloak is a huge load off your mind when heading into blind territory and it's great for sneaking up on cocky bastards in sniping positions. The extra low slot gears Pilgrim more towards an armour tank, so I can use the mids for my favourite toy - tracking disruptors! The sense of 'wtf?' emanating from my corpmate when I tested his Loki and brought it down to 0.3km optimal range was fantastic.

Missile boats give me nightmares though.

What the hell, is anyone else's Steam Eve downloading something right now? I checked my steam download list and it has like a five hour update it is currently downloading.

Yep, I think that steam forces an update every once in a while, even though Eve uses it's own updater.

Also, I re-did my portraits with the one free shot that CCP did for the people that clicked "save", since it didn't seem permanent enough.

I made two characters, one looks kinda like a hotter version of La Roux, and the other is like a cross between Conan O'Brian and Harrison Ford. Sadly, Conan's pasty complexion makes Harrison O'Brian's skin look a little weird. Also, now I wish I called him Harrison O'Brian.

Yeah, its a shame really, because the editor and art themselves are fantastic. Maybe they'll continue releasing new options? Not likely, since you don't really ever see your character after generation anyways, as far as I can tell at least.

This is prep for Incarna, the expansion when they release walking in stations. They announced it in 2009 I believe, so I think it might be a bad imitation of valve time.

Either that or it's slated for release this summer.

When messing around with the generator for the Caldari dudes, I actually had to make an effort to NOT get it to look like Iceman (from Top Gun). Thats without the glasses even. Everything I did I was like "looks like Iceman with a different haircut." Once I got it to not look like him, I put on some Aviators and he was Iceman again.
