What did the original get? Was it something like 98%? If so I'd imagine it'd be a point or two less. Lets face it, I doubt it will have as much of an effect as the first, although I hope I'm wrong.

PC Gamer UK isn't though - Doom 3 only scored 90%, and even that was with some reservations. Brilliantly written review too.

yeh great review generous, and critical balanced just right, Doom III definately exeeded in it's cinematic's, and visual deliverance, that's what gave it that 90%.

I agree.

I've been thinking about how they may open the review. Probably with a rant over review scores. The first 3 letters will probably be "95%" or something and then say "Saves you the trouble"

If its the best game ever created it is a perfect game. For me it looks like its worth 100%. But I think they will give it 98% or 99%

hmmm.... i'm gonna say no more than 94%, no matter how great it is, they will find some flaws, but it should still be high, hell, anything above 75% is usually worth it

I remember PC Zone gave Quake II 97% which was thier highest ever rating at the time.

HL2 must be able to beat that...

96% is PC Gamer's highest ever awarded score....and that was for Half Life. I'm guessing HL2 will be 96% or 97%. (Hence the sig).

I've never seen a 97% or higher since Quake 2 in PCZ. Doom 3 and Far Cry have since come out, and there's also MOH:AA and COD, none have hit the magical 97% achieved by Quake 2.

Quake 2 was revolutionary in the graphics stakes at the time though, and they had Q2DM2, which is worthy of 97% on it's own.

Yeah, at the time pczone reviewed q2, that sort of score was the norm.
Since then, pczone have completely revamped their scoring system, very very few games get into the 90 percents anymore, basically meaning, if anything does get in the 90's its worth buying by anyone, even if they're not into that type of game.

One game. Out of the few thousand they've reviewed. I'd say anything about 95% is a rarity and therefore unlikely.
