No overrating here folks - here is a summary of what they had to say:

- Uninspiring, run-of-the-mill gameplay that you've played before and played better before

- Level design is fairly dull and uninspired

- Vehicle levels feel like they were made just for the sake of being made (ie, everyone else has vehicle levels so I guess we should have them too)

- Indoor graphics = fine, outdoor graphics = "embarrassingly bad"

- Boss fights haven't evolved since original Quake II (you pretty much know EXACTLY when one is about to happen)

- No bots in multiplayer

- Singleplayer campaign barely reaches 10 or so hours (and that's with getting lost, restarting due to being killed)

- Lots of action though

Their final score: 70%

70% is pretty terrible coming from PC Gamer... I remember once they spent the whole review dissing the game and gave it a 69% score. 70% is three and a half stars, that's considered "pretty good" in most industries. But of course in the PC game industry 85% is average and below 75% is bad ;)

Yeah, Quake 4 never really got me all that excited. I can pass this.

Wow, that's terrible. Too bad because I was looking forward to this one. The presentation at E3 was awesome.

Oh well. That's one less game that I have to buy. :|

hmmm... i'm debating even whether i should use the bandwidth to d/l this

Dam, I was actually looking forward to this....:|

Same here, though i will wait for PC Gamer UK and the demo before making my opinion final

Maybe you people should wait for a couple more reviews before finalizing your decisions. Just because PC Gamer doesn't like it doesn't mean that it's, OMG t3h sux c0ck!

Same Quake mp as you've been playing all these years except in Doom 3 graphics (minus the bots).

Why are PC game scores always high even when it's a bad game?

Well, you can't expect everyone to have the same opinion.

Wasn't looking forward to it at all anyways.

Never understood the buzz behind the Quake series.

Quake 2 was awsome though.

Damn, I was looking forward to this (since last week).

I'm gonna see what PCGamer UK say too.

If it is a bad game, the bad thing is that it will sell well, just because of the brand name.

Noooooo! Never say die! Quake 4 lives! Fu@k them! This game will own all! There will never be a better game ever! You wait!

-meh ;)

most people started fpsing on the quake series
doom may have started the genre going but quake was the real intro

Wasn't really looking forward to it anyway. I guess this made not buying it easier :p

i was thinking about buying it for the multiplayer.. but not anymore :(

It never looked good to begin with. From watching gameplay videos you could tell everything was quite archaic.

...on a more serious note, you're not all seriously going to change your mind from that article? Even if I wasn't going to buy it upon release, I'd at least wait for actual gameplay videos and reviews from friends or other sources.

I don't think PC Gamer US means too much, PC Gamer UK is where it's at :farmer:

You keep thinking that.....

Is everybody hyped over Quake Wars? I get confused.

C'mon people, it didn't look fantastic from the get-go.
