Hey guys don't you think that the file us_gman03.wav that ge got from Gabe could be one of the lines opening the game? Imagine, you start with the Gman's speech, about "we've been rather busy in your absence" , the he talks about "wake up and smell the ashes" and he concludes his speech with the infamous "you are not supposed to be here", maybe he will tell us some other things :naughty: , and after that we get the "psyche" bink scene of of images passing by your eyes, you black-out and find yourself in the train towartds City-17.
Mods if you think this should go to the rumours & speculation section please feel free to do it, and please accept my apologies.

I still think that sound is played when you noclip through a wall where the gman is, he'll say "you're not supposed to be here, infact you aren't" and then you'll go back to where you were.

But that's just a guess.

Or if you walk into his bathroom while he is showering hell say, "your not supposed to be here..."

It could be from any part of the game, apart from the fact that he says "cleverly done" which indicates some kind of event after a task or chapter of the game.

Moved to Rumors And Speculation.

But then he'll say "now you will have something to remember until the next time we meet Mr. Freeman"

100th post!

Yes Chris but the "cleverly done" could be a praise for what you did at BMRF

He's already praised him for that. HL1 remember? I'm positive it's when you cheat or something like that.
And I still hope HL2 will begin with a sourced version of the G-man saying; "I will see you up ahead..." And then screen goes black, sounds maybe pictures like in the psyche vid and then a nice train ride into City 17 followed by the Rise and Shine speech, topped with; "This is where I get off."

i always had a theory, i dunno where it came from, but at the end of the training level (no, not the trainstation thing, the level where it says "press the 'w' key to move forward" <- that thing) you hear the Gman say that and he brings you to the beginning of the game

Here's how i would make it start;

blank screen: "It's time to choose..."
*OLD HL1 VER of GMAN appears* *wizzaappp!**WHITE LIGHT then fade out*.../long pause/ *breathing....*
"wake mr freemanSSS, wake up and smell... the ashes...."
*new hl2 ver of GMAN appears*..*GMAN eyebrow to smile*
"cleverly done, mr freeman.... i will see you .. up ahead" *GMAN SMERK*
*wizzaappp!*...*ba-dum-ba-dumm....-ba-dum-ba-dumm..(train noise)*
Freeman laying flat on his back in the train carriage.
Staggers to feet with head spinning slightly.. no one else is on the train...
It pulls into the station...

ROCK ON HL2!!!! lol

What? like the hazard course in HL1? What are you on about? He wanted Gordon to forget about his training?
Also, a quote someone her uses as sig;
"If you can't figure out how to make your guy move forward you deserve to have your CD blow up and impale your leg so that you die of bloodloss."

LOL!!! i love the sig quote!!!
wait, i dont remember hearing him say forget about whatever, idk it was a theory its just what popped into mind when i heard the .wav

oh, and yes, like the hazard course in HL

Here's how I see it:

The game starts with the G-Man's words at the end of HL1-- "Wisely done, Mr. Freeman...I will see you up ahead." The screen goes black for 10 seconds and you start to have dreams of the things that happened at BMRF. The phsyche video plays and the G-Man says "Well, well...isn't this just like...old times?" Suddenly, you open your eyes slightly and see a blurry G-Man in front of you. You are in a train. He gives you the whole "Rise and shine" speach and the train comes to a stop.

With very blurred vision and while laying down on a bench in the train, you see the G-man walk towards the doors. The doors open and white light flashes as they open. The G-Man steps out into a white light 'portal' and disappears. You are still laying down on the bench in the train breathing heavily when you gather the srength to sit up. The train returns to earth and comes to a stop once again. Two men in blue jumpsuits aree forced into the train by combine metrocops. They close the doors and the train takes off again bound for City 17. They look at you with confused looks on their faces and say "Are you okay man?" Your vision slowly gets better until you can see the faces of the two men in the train. You get up and they start talking to you. One man wispers to the other "Why is he wearing that orange suit?"

You all arive at your final stop and they say "End of the line." You get off of the train, get your picture taken, and proceed with what we saw in the E32K4 vids.

Anyone else think it will be similar to that? That would make an awesome beginning. :stare:

Yeah but the G-man has to leave before the train stops, so you can enjoy a nice train-ride á la Black Mesa Inbound.

Very nice Moto-x_Pat! everything seems to fit pretty well, but i'd want a little teaser about what happened between BMRF and HL2. Other than that good job :)

What is this "You're not supposed to be here" thing?

Sounds good, only, as I've said before, I doubt you start with the suit...

Indeed, I doubt the Combine wouldn't notice one of their prisoners running around in a big orange suit ;)

Can someone answer my question? What is this "You're not supposed to be here" thing all about?

BTW, Varg Hund, varför kan du inte tala Engelska i din sig?

Därför att han är en hamster. How I love learning new languages..

Moto's beginning would seem pretty cool, but I would like to wathc the city for a while before the train ride comes to it's end.

My belief: You'l start out on the train from HL1 (in source, obviously) but it will be just when he says "Time to choose" and the portal opens. And you wont be able to controll Gordon there, it'l be like a flashback. Then it does the "Rise and Shine" thing, and you wake up on the train, but it'l be arriving in city 17, not already at the statin, so you'l be looking out the window, first seeng contryside and whatever, maybe a town, then you'l go into a tunnel, and when you pop out, you'l be in City 17, half-deserted with the combine in controll and stuff.

Edit: also I think the "Isnt this just like old times" thing could come in later in the game (maybe the end), or it was just for display purposes at E3, to get hl fans psyched.

He starts off in the orange jump suit then changes around the time he meets alyx I think cuz didnt one of the characters say in one of the videos lets get you out of that suit? I think they did but anyways he doesnt go with the big orange suit through the game.

If the game doesnt start with flashbacks and so I will be alittle disappointed cuz it would of really set nicely 2 the beginning.

yea there will be "dream-sequences" and "flashbacks" , i bet !

"Let's get you out of that HEV suit..."

You don't seem to start out with it, but you obviously get it before you meet up with Eli...

OMFG

COULD SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION???

What is this "You're not supposed to be here" thing all about?

/me cuddles Fly en Shoes signature.

And indeed, we'll have to wait and see.

I'd like to see some scary flashbacks
Propably some of the scariest parts from HL1.

Like?

I can think of two.

Two words:
Nihlanth. Gargantua.

The Gargantua didn't scare me as bad though..But when I first saw it I was like WOAH WTF..

Or that big thing that shot hornets...Damn that scared me when I first saw it :O

Don't forget those green clawthingys. Damn, that "clank clank" haunted me for weeks :|

I have a hundred memories of dark vents and headcrabs.

It was a late night when I first played HL and it was so scary when you first teleported into Xen with those 3 slaves. I got no idea what they were, I was like "I - MUST - GET - OUT"

I hope they got something as scary as that in HL2...

i think he meant more like keyszenes !

I'd like to see some flashbacks like:

Gordon travels on a train

*FLASHING*
"IT'S NOT SHUTTING DOWN!! IT'S NOT-AAAARRRGGH!!" and blurry flashes of of the anti-mass-spectrometer-thingy exploding AND a quick flash of G-Man
*FLASHING*

few seconds of peace as the train keeps going...

*FLASHING*
*PICS OF DEAD SCIS AND BARNEYS NEAR THE GROUND ZERO (source of course) AND a quick flash of G-Man*
*FLASHING*

another few seconds of peace...

*FLASHING*
*FLASHBACKS OF ZOMBIES, FIRST MEETING WITH GRUNTS, ALIEN GRUNT AND a quick flash of G-Man*

and so on... maybe 4-6 flashbacks should do it...
