S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky pics. I'm enjoying this game now that I've painstakingly got enough money, armor, know how to repair stuff (d'oh) and figured out where the point of no return is. Now it's a mutant frag fest.

First: throwing bolts into an electrical anomaly at night:

Snork carnage deep in Red Forest:

Does anyone else prefer the iron sights for the SPAS shotgun from Shadow of Chernobyl over that in Clear Sky?

Man. I want to play STALKER. I was so hyped for that game, but lost my hype when so much was changed. Are they still both very good games?

Anyways. A nice fun relaxing clonk map with Vegeta.

Starting view and then finishing view. Didn't get a screencap at the start with vegeta there, so I started it again and did it.

The uhh... Golden Statues are mine. They will protect me in the afterlife.

The Sub is mine. I did everything below the water except to the bottom right of where we started out at. Vegeta did pretty much everything above the water other than where we started out at.

You're the 4th or 5th (not exaggerating) person, Koola, who has seen a screenshot from one of me and Raz's games and went "OH COOL LOOKING WHERE 2 DOWNLODE" only to realise that the game takes a lot of patience and learning to enjoy it and keep playing. Dog--, Lucid, Acepilot... all lost!

If you think you're man enough for it, you probably aren't.

But if you'd like to try, www.clonk.de

Go download Clonk Endeavor and complete the keyboard and mouse tutorials.

Perhaps play a map like Goldmine, then.

If you still like the game, you can download Clonk Rage (exact same thing except minor improvements, mostly graphical) and play with us.

Make sure you master the controls! If you are enthusiastic about playing you need to master the controls!

Doing the Clonk Endeavor keyboard tutorials will help you do that. We play with clonk endeavor "classic" controls. If you do end up playing Clonk, change your control scheme from "Jump N Run" to "classic", which is how it is in clonk endeavor, and in our opinion superior.

After you have a video card and atleast 512 RAM with a 1.5 GHZ processor, your argument for 'using the computer for other things' goes right out the door.

1. Video decoding. Good luck running 1080p content on that 1.5ghz rig.
2. Video encoding. I quite like my fast h264 encodes.
3. General multimedia usage.
4. General shit runs quicker.
5. Compile times.
6. Folding.
7. etc

No real order to that list. I mean come on 1.5ghz? Pull numbers out you arse much? That's slow. Even government computers around my parts these days are at least 2ghz Core Duos.

And besides, new console like $500 average. Upgrade PC. Well, RAM is about $50, new Processor is another $200, new Video Card, say around $500.

Numbers, arse, stop it. I bought an E6600 last year around April and yes it cost $300 but it's a bloody excellent chip at 3ghz+ This year I replaced my old 7900GS ($160 retail at the time) with a generic 8800GT ($200). $500 for a video card is high end, you're doing it wrong. Oh and you're probably talking retail prices too. Try and deal with places that buy mainstream parts in bulk, these guys sell at the lowest price and generally have no quality service to speak of. However if you know you're consumer rights you're fine.

I think it's clear you don't know what you're doing in regards to product research or value for money.

I'm not quite lost just yet. :frown:
I've been playing it over LAN with my friend, trying out strategies and working at finding comfortable control schemes.

I think they're pretty good games. What changed? (Are you thinking of the original version that was supposed to be released around the time of the original HL2?) If you haven't played them yet, the first one should be 'patched' with bug fix modifications, as the latest update seems to leave some things broken (some quests and little annoyances mostly). The second one seemed short, and only had one terrifying/creepy venture into some underground vault. The second one, however (once updated), ran flawlessly for me.

That game, from screenshots, reminds me of some cheap ass pen/paper game I used to play. It would be a couple of people plus one guy that is the "DM" in this mindset. He'd draw a big ol' map on some paper, with the upper land, and you see underground. There are resources/booby traps/etc that you have to dig to and evade to win. The other player doesn't know where the other guy is, but has to try to take over the land for himself using whatever items he mines up to create weapons.

I was 12, the game was shitty but entertaining while bored. Anyway, this game looks a bit like that from the 2 SS's.

Fantastic, we look forward to playing with you again.

I may hop on the game and run through the tut's and see if it doesn't just rape my mind in difficulty.

It's not really about the difficulty, it's the patience you need. The game is frustrating for a new player. Once you adapt, you'll find out if you really like the game or not.

What is the point of that clonk game?

What vegeta said... building, gathering resources.

There's also potentially more you can do with the game, especially with the melee modes and stuff, but honestly, we don't play that. I am not that enthusiastic about them. I haven't yet seen the appeal(even though it seems to be the main appeal for the German base which makes up the bulk of the players) of those melee modes. I don't really like the idea of competition in this game. I much prefer cooperation.

For some reason I like the mining/resource gathering of the game, traversing terrain and hazards... clearing the map. It's relaxing for me.

Nooo...
It's Fallout 3...
Unless you were being Sarcastic
it's hard to tell over the interwebz

Yeah its pretty awesome. I just wish some of the XP conversation choices weren't dirt low as 15% success. Having to reload 10x to get the ****er to agree with me is a bitch.

We call that cheating. My speech skill is 100 so I have no issues but then again I'm a fair way in.

I'm working more on weapons, DC is a bitchshit. And looking at the list of perks yet to come, I'm probably barely getting started (and I already did the Bloodlines mission). I wanted to kill vance and take his flaming sword but god damn his gun wielding friends.

He'll give you the blueprints if you help him I hope you realise. For example;

It's amazing how knocking your Gamma down on Quantum Of Solace can make it look near identical the 360 version.
