Prey

I like the varying settings, the spiritwalking and the way they handle death.

I'll give it a try too..

...whenever it comes out next year.

doom3 got boring at the end, because they didn't really change it up throughout the game. a game can have the doom3 dark type atmosphere, but still be great throughout. for instance, making it really scary in the first part, but making more thinking puzzles further on, once the scariness has worn off, or more NPC interaction.

pizza is good, but you eat it for every meal and you get sick of it. variety! something doom3 didn't have much of.

wow that trailer showed off quite a few really cool things. The way they handle death like AmishSlayer said looks very interesting. This is goingh to be one to watch out for :)

I still can't quite understand, people that see a game that uses Doom 3 engine, automatically think its going to try and be like it.....:sigh:

Yeh same here i had my doubts but ever since i watched that first trailer i became a fan :) It also seems like you can leave your body at will but it may leave your body defenceless while you run around in spirit form with that really powerful bow and arrow. and i love how they've used the Doom 3 engine. I dnt see why people are comparing Doom 3 and Prey. Just looking at that trailer alone showed that the game has so much variety also i can just imagine the diffrent puzzles in the game (much like the one you see in the trailer with that cube and shooting those things that rotate it to slide that other block around).

To be honest that trailer was just plain amazing i just hope the game lives up to it

Yeah, I've to many sites and people say Quake IV and Prey look like Doom III. I think it's rediculous.

Maybe it's the plastic-look to the models?
Maybe it's the lack of light in the levels?
I think Doom 3's engine is made for really dark games.

Come to think about theres nothing wrong with the Doom 3 engine at all. In fact its really good. Ive heard and see so many people say how rubbish it is to the Source engine and whatever but to be honest it all depends on how its used.

Lack of light?! did you watch the trailer there were lights everywhere!

I think the walkways that let you walk up walls and upside down are cool.
Looks like they also use physics really well.
This could be great! :D

yeah the physics make it look impressive. Like the bit where the player keeps rotating the level and you see boxes and glass things being thrown around, looked great! Im downloading the High res trailer so i can watch it again later :)

If you're talking about that pretty long E3 movie, with the abduction scene...
It still looked dark, of course it's probably just the way the movie was recorded...
I don't really care either way...I'll go see if there's new Prey trailers about. :|

Im not sure which one ur talking about but the one at the start of this thread is the E3 trailer isnt it? Maybe you saw a different one OR im guessing ur talking about the very start with the UFO then yeh tht was pretty dark bt did you watch the rest of the trailer? i didnt think it was that dark at all.

That video is just a better version of the long E3 movie. It was nice to see it in full detail.

This game looks fantastic! I loved everything about it. From what it looks like, I happen to be one of the few who like the DOOM 3 engine.

Its not just for dark games. Take a look at Quake Wars and even the outside part featured in the video, it looks great. This is one of the games that surprised me this year at E3.

;O i also noticed theres no crosshair ingame. If they keep it this way its going to be alot more of a challenge, thats something which i liked about Brothers in Arms aswell

The cursor that cames up when you're pressing a button also looks like Doom III's. I don't mind, but they'll probably change it.

Yeah i'm glad they've kepy that feature. Does anyone know when its due for release or is it like "its done when its done" like Duke Nuken 4eva.

From what one of the guys told me at their booth(E3), they're right on schedule for a fall release. (Quake 4)

That actually scared me for a second....
That looks really good

Anyone got a link to a high res version of the Quake 4 E3 trailer?

Those walkways look almost exactly like the ones in Ratchet & Clank games that you can walk on using gravity boots :P

The only thing that made me think "Doom 3" were a couple of the monsters, other than that it looks to be very original.

I also like the idea of dynamic gravity. That certainly changes gameplay up

Holy ****.
That scene with the children was messed up.

Also after seeing that scene where the guy was flying a ship...
Descent 4 anybody? :naughty:

I love the fact that almost all of the weapons look biomechanical.

That huge demon guy with horns almost reminded me of the old Doom Cyberdemon.

Heh, Yes I guess I have...
Before I kinda've lost interest while watching that really long and crap quality movie...
But, I gave it another chance.
And DAMN, That game looks FUN

2 main reasons I dont like the engine:
1. Its seems too dark - The reason everything is too dark is that there are lights everywhere in the world but the environment isnt being lit up enough from them. There shouldnt be any pitch black corners in a room filled with bright lights...
2. Character models look plastic - I cant quite put my finger on why these models look so plasticky compared to something like source engine models. Is it lighting? shading? texturing? Whatever it is, the damn people look like clay figures and it makes me cry.

But no biggy, I can easily say that video just sold me this game already :) Looks awesome.

Wow that certainly looked nice. I especially like those portals and how they're like open doors.

what I like the most is the style
looks more original that all the upcoming fps

maybe this game will be the one that brings new creativity to the fps genre

The first thing I thought when I saw this, as the guy above, this actually looks fun. The story seems interesting, weapons, setting, graphics all good, but fun. Wow, that`s something I`ve not seen in a long long time. I`m getting this for the 360, since with HD, everything will probably look the same on consoles and pc`s for a while, unless your`re playing with insanely high resolutions.

doom 3 has a SICK engine i don't know how people can bash it. the game doom 3 i didn't like because the storyline used so many elements from half-life it was sickening. but the engine pumps out some high quality textures and models that make for some good eye candy.

I don't know whether I should take this seriously or not. :|

That video blew me away, not the sort of game i'd buy... bit too scary ;( but still, it looks really amazing, i love the whole teleport door/mirror thing, that worked really well. would make for some good MP too :E
