PSN Down and Out

I Feel bad for all those kids out there with only a PS3 at hand.

They're even worse off than the happy little Africuns who don't even have a Playstation one!

Yeah, I made a Tim Minchin reference, what of it?

Ignoring yet another one of Krynn's ignorant posts, I'd like to announce that the PlayStation Network has started its first phase of restoration. They've released a firmware update for the PS3 which requires each and every individual to change their current password. At this time, services are rolling throughout the country at a slow yet steady speed. Expect results within a few hours. For more news, visit the official blog: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/14/play-on-–-psn-restoration-begins-now/

Yeah, so... er... I... I... -- processing... initializing Shakespearean dialogue in 3... 2... 1...

How to, my brothers? Fair this news may be, yet remain vigilant and cautious shall I proceed through said situation. All is yet not over, ere can we say it hath begun? For this catastrophic meltdown of sorts, like to an explosion or a swirling column of air found in the darkest depths of the land, has lasted well over a typical fortnight, which is to say that slowly things have gone. Perhaps better care for such a large system would hath prevented such an intrusion. Though, the judgment I give is not mine to use, for if placed in such a position I was, no question would I have failed at my task, thus resulting in the same problem, worse yet, if thou permit. And so, Hope shall in forth lead us through these troubled and desperate times, and victorious shall we plunge and rewarded we shall be for having enough patience. Beg Titania, Queen of Fairies, such arises never a problem yet again.

tl;dr

Ignore all of the Shakespearean garbage (the word isn't fitting for his writing but for the use of it in my post, mind you, good sir) and you'll understand what I mean. Blast, I should've put it in spoilers! Oh well, I'd be lying if I told you I had never made a mistake before in my life.

Come to think of it, maybe I should've put that in spoiler tags too...

I just thought the repercussions of posting such a reference ALONG WITH A VIDEO were obvious. Alas, I was wrong, but I digress. Let's not let these minor issues derail the thread.

I still don't get it. In fact I'm more confused, because you said you should have put it in spoiler tags "too" implying you had used spoiler tags elsewhere in the post, which you didn't.

But as you say, I'll not let your minor embarrassments derail the thread, and speak of it no further.

New England, I envy you bastards.

Edit: Cali is up!

Sony released a firmware update that's supposed to force a password change, but it can only be changed from the console that's authorized to use the account already. So...I guess that's good.

I'm on. So are the other people I know that are from cali.

Embarrassments? If anything, you should feel a little red in the face for what you did. Furthermore, the statement, "...maybe I should've put that in spoiler tags too..." was directly referring to another post I had made previously in this thread. This post can be found below your quote for reference.

However, I digress. Hypocritical I was for responding again, but I had to let that out there. I'll let your insignificant mistakes slide by for the sake of this thread and speak no further on the matter of Tim Minchin, your reference of him, and the relevancy of that reference in regards to the thread.

By the way, I have good news. Take a look at this map:

Unless my eyes do deceive me, it seems that the entire United States is green. Canada also appears green. This mean that services have been restored for each and every state, but it may take a while for each and every individual to gain access to the PSN again. I guess we could take a gander and announce that the PlayStation Network is back online after suffering from its longest outage.

I'm in the UK and currently installing the new update after it downloaded pretty quickly, its not that big of an update it seems, unless I got a super fast connection. It's just gone 12:08pm.

So, I presume Europe is up and running again, or atleast almost up and running.

Anyway, seems it back. Lets see if the password change messes up.

[Edit] update installed fine, cant sign in though. ''Playstation Network is currently undergoing maintenance.''

the update is out but i dont think psn is up yet in the uk.

At least when i tried it anyway...=/

Same here in the Netherlands: firmware update can be downloaded, login isn't possible yet.

Apparently Europe is expected to be up by ''the end of the day.''

Which means midnight I guess due to the time difference for the yanks hitting the 'on' button, if the PSN updates of the past are anything to go by.

How very magnanimous of you.

Judge me no more, fellows, for everything has been sorted out. It'd be best if we let this minor conflict escape from our grasp and into some nearby forest where it will never be seen or heard from again. We all have our moments every now and then, and mine was shown in this thread, but don't use this example as a way to interpret my actual character. It was a bad joke from the start, and I made matters even worse by carrying on with it.

And there you go.

still a good deal to me, 1 month without the service, my credit card is intact and I get 4 new games :)

I wont be satisfied with this as an appology for being absolutely negligent with people's private information, but hell yeah I want LBP and inFamous.

Almost the same as in Europe. Except we can also chose Ratchet & Clank. I guess it will be that game and Infamous.

Warped, why did you change it to huge green annoyingas**** text? Change it back.

Also, the store is still down :(. Also I wish I could get Ratchet & Clank too :(.

that lineup doesnt particularly interest me i admit, already played most of it aswell =/

I'll get dead nation as i've never played it. I own wipeout and R&C.

LBP it is then; wasn't a fan of it but i liked it way more than infamous -_-

I am going to get Wipeout and Dead Nation because those are the only ones I don't have. and for PSP I'm gunna get Killzone and ModNation Racers

also the green font stays! behold the power of going green ;)

Thats an extra sweet welcome back package I must say. Dead Nation and Super Stardust HD for me, along with Killzone and LBP PSP. Geez. I knew it would be good but this is really making me happy. I don't game online all that much anyway so the last month or so hasn't been too bad for me. And yeah, that green font wins.

I like how they only refer to it as a "service outage." Also, reading internet reaction to this further enforces that gamers are the dumbest bunch of ****s in the universe. "Sony why did you put my financial security in jeopardy with your shitty practices which were subsequently breached, and why did it take you so long to notify me about this? This is my hard-earned money at stake heOH SHIT FREE INFAMOUS?! Five stars Sony, five stars!"

Don't be a bitch. We finally got some god damn games.

I don't think I've turned on my PS3 for any purpose in at least a year and a half. I'll take 2 free games and a weekend of free movie rentals though. I'll most likely never play them, have less than zero desire to play them, but I'll get inFamous and LBP since they're probably worth the most on the list. I will watch the free movies though.

Protot--I mean, Infamous is old shit. Giving out games worth less than $20 at retail SHOULD be treated as a slap in the face as an apology for this debacle, but again, gamers are dumb as rocks. You people wonder why you get exploited so easily by companies. "Their information was compromised? Give 'em old games that sit in bargain bins for free; they'll fucking love it."

Fine, be a bitch about it, I gained more than I lost from this

-PSN being down for a month, I had a lot of free time because I wasn't able to play online. I ended up being more active, I started going on long hikes, I walked 10 miles the other day and broke into an abandoned factory building when I would otherwise be playing Warhawk or some shit online.
-I didn't lose any money. In fact I probably saved money
-I got free games
-I smoked weed
-I win

Oh yeah well your story's convinced me that what happened here was great brah fuck yeah I can't go out and exercise because video games take up my time too because I'm a lazy shit with bad time management and I guess ur right we really made out this time with free 2-year-old games Sony should get hacked more often haha I agree smoke weed errday

It's okay man if you feel shitty about yourself but **** YEAr you're right, gotta cease the day. sony and hackers can go eat their shits because we're winners bro. for real

Mogi, you are a fucking idiot.

That is all.

Ha, this guy thought Mogi was being serious. What a moran.
