Arriving in stores on October 18th - same day as F.E.A.R.! What a great FPS day that will be!!!
 
they gonna do it like doom the game is onna syck so they release the demo after the game comes out

Yeah I dont have the highest hopes for Quake 4, heres to hoping Im wrong.
 
Hope it is good, may wait till next year until i get it, my time will be taken up by VF2 and DoD:S when i get it
 
Whoa, Gold you say!? That came out of nowhere. At least in my little world.
 
yea i dont have enough money for it, plus im not too too intrested in it anyways

Jeez, first B&W2 and now this has snuck up on me. I don't think I'll be getting Quake 4 though.

I just read this from the IGN Quake 4 preview

"There doesn't appear to be any locational damage, though, at least in this build, so it's a matter of unloading a lot of rounds into your target."

I was hoping QW: Enemy territory was released before q4 ...oh well ...wont even consider getting it till I've tried a demo ..and even then it better be freakin awesome cuz "run and gun" is so 90's
 
I'm really hoping it will be a lot like Quake 2. In fact, I think I'll play some Quake 2 now

Well it follows the storyline of Quake2. Not sure on the gameplay though.

Anyways, I'm for sure getting this! :D
 
Hmmm, imo its looks terrible. It will be another doom3.

I'm curious as to why people are saying this. What videos have been released that show dark corridors with monsters popping out of hidden closets? I think you're basing your assumption on the fact that it's made by id, but that's really not fair
Doom and Quake have always been quite different, I don't see how this one will all of a sudden follow Doom 3's formula of cheap scares. id's not that dumb

Wrong. He's basing the assumption on the fact that it;s based on the Doom 3 Engine which is made by Id.
Id isn't making the actual game just overwatching Raven. Raven is making the actual game.
So Id really is only making sure Raven release a piss poor game with an Id's franchise. But yeah Raven Software is making it not Id. Raven also made the Solider of Fortunes.

It's like when Nihilistic was making Sc:G. Blizzard was overlooking it, said is was crap and after many delays, they basically said "Hey Nihilistic you suck!" and they gave it to Swingin Ape Studios. Swingin Ape worked on it, and during E3 and then since they were doing such a fantastic job blizzard bought them and they joined with Blizzard. Minus the last sentence and thats what Id is pretty much doing. They are basically looking at Quake 4, and if Raven does a bad job there will be delays, and if there is a good job then there wont be delays. If Raven can't get it right Id will be like "Hey Raven, you suck ass!" and do it in house or hand it off to someone else. Of course since it's gone gold we can only assume Id approves of the game and Raven has done a wonderful job and wont release a bad game.
 
My expectations are low, i've got it set in my mind that it won't be a good game.

I wouldn't be in it for the single player experience, it's all about Deathmatch! If it's like Quake 3, but better.

Dunno why, but this game has gotten stuck in my head as mediocre. It looks.. bland.

Same here, if I play the demo and find that this is great, i'll get it, but my money will be for F.E.A.R (or I should say my sisters' money since they are getting the game for me for my birthday :D)
 
Dude, are you all joking? I'm nuts for Quake 4 - I am totally interested in the storyline and think the graphics and gameplay will be good too. The best? Perhaps not, but easily worth the price.

It means that the code is final, it's done, and that a master copy (a "gold" disc) has been sent to the publisher for manufacturing! :)

So then people thing it looks bad because it's using the Doom 3 engine? That's even dumber than what I said before
Or is it because of Raven? Do they have a bad track record?

i think you've got it the wrong way, it should most definitely be the other way around... or in my case just warez both (i need to save money for a car)
 
no demo before release is like a movie that doesnt allow reviews to see it before the release. there is the potential that they are hiding something. heres to hoping im wrong. (i know PLENTY of games dont have demos, and there are plenty of reasons developers/publishers may not want one, im just speculating)
