Quake Wars

But a single-player campaign along with a backstory for the conflict would be nice nonetheless, even if it were the maps put in an order with briefings and an outro.

And perfectly designed bots (a'la Unreal Tournament).

Hey guys, no Quake Wars will not have a single player when launched, they are concentration all their effects on getting a top notch multiplayer game.

I like single player campaigns as much as the next man, but see no real reason to have one in Quake Wars. It's all about the teamplay.

I don't see why it shouldn't have one - Unreal Tournament had a single player campaign AND was the perfect team play game.

Horses for courses - I didn't really like UT single player, and didn't feel the teamplay came within a mile of the goodness found in rtcw/et.

This isn't UT, this is Quake.

If you want SP in the Quake 'verse, play Quake 2 and 4.

Ironically, I liked Quake 2 a lot more than Q4. Could just be the "nostalgia(sp)" syndrome setting in.

But, I'm still waiting for a Quake game that has a good story. Probably'll never happen though :(

Might be but Quake 2 was a polished, well made game. Can't say the same about Quake 4 unfortunately, there were plenty of cringeworthy and embarrasing moments during that.

Due to a mis-print in April issue of PC Gamer (they forgot to print the article and printed some other article twice by accident -- whoops), they put the Enemy Territory Quake Wars preview online.

Enjoy! :)

Not a whole lot of new info... *Sigh* I wish they would make a DX10 version. Not necessarily for any new graphical features (though that would be nice) but for the performance enhancements you can get with using it!

Unreal Tournament 2007 will feature single player. In a dev question and answer they mentioned that quite a large amount of their consumer base never touch networked play. With Gears of War under their belt they feel confident about making a solid single player component, mainly for the consoles as those whilst having multi player functionality target a more single player audience.

UT's single player was just a glorified practice arena. That doesn't really qualify as a campaign.

Unreal 1&2?

Unreal 1&2?

Not Unreal, but Unreal Tournament. Unreal 1&2 did have fleshed-out singleplayer modes.

That's what I meant I would hardly say UT had a singe player component at all except fight x amount of bots. Unreal was the SP component albeit being a separate package.

Exactly. I thought you misunderstood him.

Quake Wars won't need a singleplayer component, Quake 2 + 4 is singleplayer enough.

Quake Wars is a branch off from Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, which was entirely multiplayer.

So, is that only for clans? Can we sign up as individuals?
No we can't or else I would have taken your place! :D Anybody that wants to play with other hl2.net'ers is welcome to join. Just like the hl2.net BF2 clan. Only this time it's Quake Wars.

1. Clan name - Halflife2.net
2. Number of 'active' members - 15 *estimate*
3. Games played regularly - BattleField 2, BattleField 2142, Counter-Strike: Source
4. Games played competitively - None
5. Clan website - Halflife2.net
6. Clan IM details - [email protected]
7. Clan email - [email protected]

Hey, damnit, I want to play this!

Actually, I think I have a team getting on this.

Did you just send that in?

Dibs on a spot :D

Count me in too!

(Not just for beta, but for future release too.)

No I didn't send it in, only because I don't want to dawn the HL2.NET name, since we saw how much of a fire pit it was last time...

If a mod wants to jump in on it and put us in, I'll be glad to jump in too.

Chances are we won't get in. There's a guy that works for Activision at another forum I goto and he says they're really looking for competitive clans to get some perspective on how the game plays so QW can be tightly balanced and have all the needed features for serious competitive gaming.

Good news to me even though we probably don't get to play yet :(

It is good news, nice to see them focus on the community's opinion and are willing to listen to their suggestions. It's the way it should be and it's a good sign.

Ok we really need to send this in right now. Jammydodger should send the app in because he has his own fan site for Quake Wars. We have tons of people in this forum who want to play this game (great publicity). We are competitive too because we play cs, bf2, etc (just put in the app we play Quake all the time lol). There is nothing holding us back from applying. *Can't win the lottery if you don't buy a lottery ticket eh? :p
