Quake Wars

I'm VERY interested in this. If HL2.NET could get a QW server going I'd def be a regular :)

Yea Jammy, send it in our behalf. :) Better chance than from just some random person.

Ok then I'll do you a deal ;)

All the people who are interested in joining up on the HLT.2 clan go and register on Quake Wars Ops and make a post in the clan section once I have enough entries I shall submit it to activision.

Who every is running the clan please go and start a thread in the clan section for the HL2.net clan so all your squad members can post in it.

Cheers

Thank you for your interest in the Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Closed Beta Test.

If you are sending a new clan application, we regret to inform you that we have all the submissions that we need at this time.

Thank you,
The ETQW Beta Test Administrator

My clan just got that. Bugger.

Hm, I didn't get one of those with my clan application.

Though I just sent mine in on behalf of the ES team.

Either they don't like my application or didn't bother, or perhaps they're actually considering it.

Yeah it's over with:
After receiving a thousand emails in a single day, Activision are currently swamped with applications by clans to join the ET:QW Closed Beta Test. Many thanks to all those that took the trouble to apply. We?ll keep you posted if and when any further slots become available.

There can't be 1k in clans out there right?!

Am I the only one who thinks quake wars doesn't look like anything special? Just looks like a BF2 clone.

i heard from someone who played ETQW at the last e3 that it was really run & gun. Oddly enough it was while one of the devs was talking to some other people about how you can't really run and gun in ETQW, and this guy just turns around from the screen and says, "Yeah you can, i'm going it right now and i'm kicking everyone's ass!" or something to that effect.

regardless i'll probably pick this up as it looks like it has the taste of battlefield with a little more substance, even if is a little run n gun.

No it really doesn't. BF2 doesn't have objectives to do really and it doesn't have jetpacks. I could list like a million other things too. The dev's probably won't **** the game up either with updates.

I actually like that tbh. In BF2 I was always tapping that sprint button or looking for a vehicle to get to the battle. This game though seems just the right amount of speed.

I believe its going to have the same game play style as the original Enemy territory just with everything improved, which in my eye's is a great thing as the old RTCW and ET days were great and what got me hooked to first person shooters.

I think I will get the basic edition. I don't need Pokemon cards lol. If pre-orders start on Monday, then the game is really close to gold btw.

Not necessarily. They could still easily be 1-3 months off from gold. Pre-orders and clarification of what's in a LTD Edition don't really mean the game is close. Look at Halo 3. Science knows how long ago pre-orders began and they recently released info about what's in all the packages when the game comes out Sept-Nov.

From all of the trailers I've watched it looks just like mass-scale battles, just like BF2. The trailer on Gamespot entitled "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Video Feature 1" looks EXACTLY like a battlefield game. I dunno, maybe I'm just unfairly judging. This game just doesn't look like anything special.

Yeah but there are objectives to do. You don't go anywhere on the map if you don't destroy the Stroggs holdpoint or anything. In BF2 it was killing just for the points.

That doesn't sound like much of an innovation to me. BF2142 has the titan mode which is somewhat like this.

If you think QW is a rip from BF2, then you're calling the original ET a rip from BF1942 :|

QW is, at its core, just like ET but with extra teamwork aspects added in, more asymetric factions and vehicles.

I'm afraid the addition of vehicles may ruin the old gameplay somewhat ..it'll probably turn into the same situation as with BF2; line ups at vehicle spawn, players ignoring objectives and players stat whoring so they can get the unlocks quicker. In the original some of the weapons were overpowered: rocket launcher, flame thrower and even the dual pistols made completing objectives difficult. I'm afraid quake wars with the added vehicles/firepower it may just denegrate into more of the same ...however as a long time ET fan I'm hoping QW proves me wrong

also wish they had kept the ww2 theme but that's just personal preference

I can so relate to that. Exactly what people do in BF2142. It would be a lot more fun with people who you know in real life.

All my friends are gay too...if gay means imaginary friends

lol I had some of those gay friends too ..except they grew bored of me and went to someone else

Well I'm hoping that the fact that the automatically made objectives that give the player more points will be incentive enough to get out of the base and actually do something instead of hovering around by vehicle spawns.

As far as balancing goes, I'm glad they have serious clans in the beta right now to address that issue (along with clan features). It's a smart move because an FPS's long-run success is somewhat influenced by how well it can translate into competitive play.

I just pray they don't do what EA/DICE did with BF2. Balance it semi-poorly, then listen to the common community and do whatever balance changes they yell for (like how AA is now god vs anything in the air with the combination of extremely low hp on helos).

Just saw this and there's lots of good coverage going on :)

Oh, and GameSpy UK said in their preview of the game that a beta will start Mid-April and will be between 50k - 60k participants... Probably subscriber only. Hopefully they open it up!

I've been playing this for a good while now and am dying to give some impressions, but am not really allowed. I can say that Quake Wars is far more ET than RTCW - make of that what you will.

CaptStern wasn't puttin out

They were after the rusty sherrif's badge

That looks cool

So, there is NO singleplayer in this game? WTF

Why would there be?

Why is it such a surprise to alot of people that a multiplayer only game's sequel won't have SP? :|
