A BOY on the verge of his bar mitzvah was told he was not properly circumcised and therefore was not Jewish.

Orthodox rabbis in Sydney said he had to be recircumcised within four days or the ceremony - which marks the transition of Jewish boys to adulthood at 13 - could not go ahead.

I find the ancient and barbaric ritual of mutilating the genitals of a baby disgusting, offensive and primitive. Imagine being 13 and having to endure this. Crikey!

I never knew you had to receive penile inspections from the old guys either. This is disgusting.

I think it's wrong.

The parents just do not have a right to decide if little timmy has a foreskin or not. Sex is worse without it, there's no evidence to suggest it's more healthy if you clean your pen0r properlly anyway.
I was circumsised as a child becuase my foreskin wasn't growing at the rate of my pen0r making it hurt - alot. (ewww probably to much information). I don't particually mind, it had to go.

There's an interesting penn and teller episode on circumsition, you can find it on google videos. There are are circumsised support groups and everything, some guy even regrew his own foreskin. It seems that some people can grow up after being circumsised and feel very sad about it.

No-body has a might to mutilate they're children for religious reasons. Religion is bullshit, and parents do not own their children.
 
Circumcision is popular over here, but its more because of a myth than religion. Usually done at the age of 11 ~ 16.

Apperntly most people in the USA are circumsised, in the UK very few are.

Anyways, i agree this ritual should be banned. Simple reason that i dont mind ppl mutilating themselves, if its THEIR choice. A baby has no choice.
Btw, this thing is a big discussion in Holland atm, groups of Muslims are also doing it to their kids, and in NL ppl are trying to ban it.
Funny part is, they wouldnt even let a regular doctor do it -> needs to be some special priest or something => now thats nasty :p
 
I'm not seeing the big problem here. At least the kid now has a chance to choose whether he wants it or not for his religion, rather than automatically having it done shortly after childbirth.

I hate to be graphic in my description... but when I masturbate I experience an explosion of pleasure, that at times, can be almost debilitating for a short period. I don't see how you can compare circumcision to non circumcision... because humans don't experience sex equally at all, even if both people were circumcised or uncirmcised. There could be a wide difference of pleasure threshhold.

As you can see... no man is created equally, and the facts are very muddled so as not to be 100% conclusive either way.
 
I'm circumsized and I don't think it's bad at all, I don't mind in the slightest. It's not mutilation either :p it's not like the doctor carved his initials on the end of my penis, he just removed the foreskin.
 
Alot of people would be very pissed off if you banned circumcision. It'd be like banning babtism, why do Jews get it done? Because it says so right in the Old Testament. Christians should be cirumcised too but of course the Old Testament is there to be pick and choose from :rolleyes:

I don't find it to be mutilation either. Especially since most all women find circumcised penis to be far more visually appealing :D

I'm just going off what uncircumsised people have told me. If you're uncircumsised your bell-end is very sensitive, after circumsision, it loses that senstivity becuase its always in contact with things.

I'm circumsised and I don't have a problem with it, it had to happen. But some people might see it as mutilation, a persons bodie belongs to them and a parent has no right to deny them a foreskin.

I had the same problem as you and am in the same position (for medical reasons :p).
If one thing woman rather enjoy the unsensativeness, cause you can "go on" for a much longer time:p -> Sex is much better :angel:

Anyways, ontopic ;) , i think it should be banned, unless the person agree's to it later on in life, or for medical reasons.
We're not in feudal times where Priests can go sacrificing goats and mutilating kids for whatever reasons.

Only 60 years ago in Holland, priests would regularly visit just-married couples every year, checking up on if they produced enough babies... Priests have big influence ya know ;)

Anyways, whoevers choice it is -> it should be a person's (kid) own choice whether or not to mutilate his body for his religion, not somebody else.
 
One should never mutilate a part of one's own body, for it is given to them by one's parents, and it shalt be impiety to do so.

There are already studies out there that show that sex is less satisfying for some, and more satisfying for others. Alot of the studies sort of oppose each other, thus proving that each human being is quite different in the pleasure they experience, as i've stated earlier.

I'm sure the underfunded and overstretched NHS that can't even afford to fund treatments for some debilitating illnesses would just LOVE to shell out hundreds of pounds to indulge your curiosity...

But why only focus on Christians and Jews anyways? Muslims get circumcised as well.

In fact, Judaism and Islam are the only two religions of the three where it is required. It is not required in christianity.
