It was only a matter of time before Samon and Yorick's movie elitism was challenged.

God help us all.

Haha, all this arguing over a simple misunderstanding. Its quite obvious, to me anyways, that people have been posting since the start of this thread on two different 1-10 scales. Some people post a rating based on how much they liked the movie, other people post a rating based on how well executed it was. Yorick and Samon obviously post on how well executed they think movies were. Stemot and others obviously post on how much they liked the film. But it seems you guys are not seeing this distinction and arguing with each other because nobody understands each other. One side forms their opinions on how much they liked it, the other side's opinions are formed by the quality of the movie. When you dont see this difference, then you assume your opinions are based on the same criteria (which they are not) and thus you cannot comprehend the reasoning for their opinion.

Also, Yorick is a dick. But hey, thats why we (me and like, three other people maybe?) like him.

Pi Mu Rho - Shower Scene - 8/10

Pretty good, though was a little short for my taste.

I could only get a dodgy copy with a foreign dub. The subtitles got in the way of the best parts.

Whatever you do, do NOT press the Alternate Angle button.

Objectively - there is no objectively. Unless you're looking to have your taste in movies validated by other people, to show it off as if it might impress people. This is what amuses me. I like the movies that I like, unashamedly, as you know. I don't have to defend my choices, as there is nothing to defend. There is no judgement day, no reckoning, no moviegoing St Peter to compare your list against the Master Movie List and admit you entry (or find you wanting and sending you to Michael Bay's Hell.)

This post is an absurdity. I do not rank my taste or liking of a particular thing based on that of others; for instance, I do not elevate myself to a lofty position above you personally on the basis that my taste is, arguably, more refined and superior in its elitist nature. That is, after all, the meaning of elitism. There are some I will unreservedly assault for their pitiful tastes and fancies, and their inability to grasp their extremely fragile place on this spectrum - this despicable commercial enterprise that a product such as T4 chooses to abide by. By no means should you be prevented from enjoying it, or extolling its virtues subjectively, but there is a transcendent objectivity that must be acknowledged - I adhere to it, because it is not defined by others - not by opinions or fancies or tastes - but by the truth of objective understanding of its conception as a creative piece of work. A films vision, message, claim to artistic values and philosophical notions - one that defies popular culture mediocrity and mainstream garbage, and becomes more on an intrepid objective scale.

This can, and does, exist because it is not a shallow attempt to make your heart thump at the sound or sight of explosions or gunfire, or to leech on your most basic of human feelings and perceptions, but to personify an idea and go beyond the worthless framework of a film that is purely an isolated case, existing simply for you to shout "**** yeah!". I am not going to laud or applaud any such film. It is worthless. It has no real value. It aspires only to be a testament to a shallow culture that will embrace it because of its mediocrity, because it is average, and because it thrives on this base instinct. Even films that weave this fabric competently are not to be praised; it is pandering to something truly mediocre. Why and when did this become a standard? At what point was good taste and appreciation thrown to the wolves, to be replaced by an endless stream of trivial entertainment?

No, I am not attacking you or judging you. But subjectivity and objectivity are very real in relation to this argument, and they must be acknowledged.

The rise in commercialisation in hollywood and in modern culture?

Welp good god hawt damn fellas, ain't this jes' some kinda brawl? Yeeeeeeehaaaawww!!

You remember what I was saying about opinions?

Oh yeah, the ones that contradict any type of logic? I don't believe you actually responded to my last post in that argument. Anyway, can you name me one awesome scene in T4? I found it utterly boring. It failed to be compelling, make sense, or even be entertaining.

The whole movie seemed like one pretty awesome action spectacle to me.
I'll definitely be getting it when it comes to DVD, if only to complete the collection.

Spectacle, yes. The effects and world altogether were pretty well done. Action, no. Most boring 'action movie' I've ever seen.

Each his own what? What 'action' was there? THERE WAS NONE.

You should try this amazing thing called opening your eyes.

Sheesh Sheepo, Lucid found it entertaining and you didn't. Drop it.

Anyway, on topic:

The Hangover: It was alright, got some laughs and was entertained. I just didn't like that the conclusion to the whole thing seemed very rushed and sort of anti-climactic. And that one chinese dude seemed very out of place.

I thought T4 was pretty awfully written but entertaining because of the clearly huge FX budget.

Lonesome Dove - 8/10
**** yeah Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones. **** yeah Westerns!

Yes i did, as did Remus who explained the whole point of even T2 was the future can be changed, ie "no fate". Go and look. I won't be drawn into this again, you and others have your opinion, I and others have mine lets leave it at that.

Terminator Salvation - 6/10

Not as bad as I thought it would be, but man... what the hell is going on here. There's only, like, two or three fights with actual terminators. The ten seconds of digital Arnie was just awkward and pointless. There's a regurgitated fight scene lifted straight from T2 and a bunch of other such "homages".

A handful of people manage to infiltrate Skynet and wreak havoc? Where were the defenses? What kind of pitiful war is this? There really is no looming threat, except for the occasional stealth mech.

And Marcus' death at the end felt so forced and incredulous. Compare that to the image of the Terminator lowering himself into the pit of molten steel you realize just how hard it fails.

Only Cameron should be touching this material.

Heh, saw it was coming on AMC so I just popped in the DVDs myself a few days before.
Good stuff.

7.5/10...
It was extremely slow but the interaction between Gus(Duvall) and Woodrow(Jones) is great to watch.

The hilarious thing about T4's ending was that it was just like Dragonheart.

No, I got the last word. You just missed my last post.

V for Vendetta 5/10

I found the movie extremely boring compared to the book. Plus the ending of the movie was just f***ing silly.

Congratulations, you must feel so proud. I'm past caring TBH. You Win. Enjoy.

Oh look at you cool guy, this will definitely be the last time I inform you of something you're not aware of. I don't want to be embarrassed again.

Ug. My parents are making me watch 7 Pounds. Ive heard of it, but I haven't heard anymore then the name.

Thery're probably going to play all the porn they found on your computer and be all, "Now what's this all about, son?"

The Hangover - 9.3/10

I've never laughed so ****ing much during a movie in my entire life. Ok, maybe that's a slight overstatement, but still. GO SEE THIS MOVIE.

Seven Pounds was great. Also tacoeater, if you think your parents were unaware that you jerk it all the time and watch porn, you got another thing coming.
