"next gen capable, but could use some extra artillery"

Im not really one for the AMD brand, but besides that the cpu could use that little extra oomph with next gen gaming introducing more and more cpu intensive calculations (physics etc).
512mbs of DDR is becoming the standard, consider grabbing another stick of 512mbs.
the 9600 pro is a good card for the price, but even 9800 pros are beginning to show their age.
overall, thats a nice rig, especially for HL2.

mine:

Geniune Intel Pentium 4 3.0ghz (non oveclocked)

A little extra ommph? I guess you mean 64bit... right now, my CPU runs faster than a 3200+, and score around a p4 3.0 on sandra.
yeah I could use more ram. :)

P4 3.2 Ghz
1 Gig Corsair XMS PC3200
Asus P4C800E Deluxe
PNY 6800 GT
WD 250Gig Sata HDD
9.999/10

If it had been an A64 of some flavor, I would hav given you a 10, but I thing 9.999 is decent :p

Very nice, but 2gigs of ram can hinder performance, so a measly 9.9 for you :D. Anyway check sig for my rig - got some creative 5.1's and an 18" monitor with em if they count towards anything.

my mistake, I meant to have rated yours an 8... I dont know how I got 6 (must have been an oversight).
its just the vid card and ram that could use a bump up, and I didnt know the AMD performed at that clock speed... so yeah 8.5 in that case.

Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB
