I got the game today and I love it so much. :D

The campaign is really good fun, a nice story and strong atmosphere. You can play any level as a Coop too with a friend, if you don't play it as a Coop an AI commander takes their place (who has their own personality/videos during the level).

Lots of Skirmish maps and when I finish the 3 Campaigns it's time for some multiplayer action. The graphics and sounds (music!) are spot on, some of the best animations I've seen in a strategy and a noticeable step up from the public Beta.

And yey, Tim Curry! Really feels like a true Red Alert sequel.

Can you upgrade units/tech?

If you say yes.

All red alert 3 fans have boarded the fail boat.

Nope. The units gain ranks (just like RA2). But you can't upgrade them with more powers or whatever.

There is commander unlocks like Generals where you unlock them with points but it fits well with the gameplay (like Super Weapons and stuff) - makes it a little more interesting too as everyone can pick up a more varied way of playing in my opinion.

Good, now I'll wait until EA removes its head out of its arse.

Menu laggs so much for me, I get a black screen for minutes on end.
Also camera is to close imo.

Not sure why you would care about EA's involvement, lol.

I had the same menu problem but once I set it to my desktop resolution it solved it.

And if it did have upgrades? So what?

True, Red Alert 2 didn't have that, but what's the problem?

You're all maggots. It's not out until the 6th.

I did buy the game, but the online activation shit annoyed me considering my new pc is offline, i went to the bad places and got a fix for that,

If the idea of upgradeless units carried on for two games in the one series, I'd expect that westwood would have stayed the same. They are smart.

I loved RTS as a kid but it turned over when I tried other games different to Red Alert 2, I always thought I'd be good at other RTS because of my pro ability in RA2. Wasn't the case when I was very young when I tried out SC and got completely confused about the additives.
More so of an aged realization for me I guess, finding out that the hard facts of having # of units compared to the more complex way in with the numerous upgrades were completely different concepts for me.

The game was good because it was basic; and this for me is what made it one of my favourite games to play: it was fun as ****.

The comment was aimed at the makers, wondering if they made Red Alert 3 what it should be: actually following a game tradition. OH HI BLIZZARD!

Anyone tried a Skirmish against Hard/Medium? Holy crap the amount of units that can be on screen at once. Me and my Ally had about 50 Twinblade helicopters in the air at one point, lol. Loads of fun, they've increased the scale or it for sure. Some great maps too, from tiny to huugeee.

Also I found the camera view for the Campaign is closer than in Skirmish? Maybe it's done deliberately until you need to see more of the battlefield (early in the campaign you only get set near-by objectives).

Having to have an AI ally sounds shite.
A: If I have to babysit it that would suck entirely
B: When I play I often like to take my time and experiment with the level and enemy. It would be really annoying if I was messing about and my ally kept getting in the way by attacking the enemies I was messing about with or completely an objective I didn't want done yet.

They do suck, they continually keep attacking and getting their asses kicked, while in the mean time
draining your funds, they can also make you fail at bonus objectives by capturing buildings you had to
capture before you. And you can't recapture them cause they be your allies.

Well... sounds like I won't be playing the campaign then... I hate sidekicks.

Yes you will.
Besides simply go online and play with a real person.
Play with a drunken Cyberpitz or something.
Also, yes you will.

They aren't too bad, you can give them commands that over-ride them. I'd prefer if they just supported you rather then went for the objectives.

The Coop ability is golden though.

Wait, so in the campaign mode you're forced to play with an ally? :|

Yes, but you have to give them constantly, you can't just have them hold ground.
You can let them go somewhere, but once their base gets attacked they will come back and
instead of returning to where you put them they will go get themselves killed.

It's a co-op campaign and you're crying because you don't have a person to play with? Fail harder.

I like being able to play on my own, without internet, whenever I want, and have a fun time without
anyone else when I play a CnC campaign. I do not want to have to wait for my friends to get it, I want to
be able to come back 5 years down the line when hardly anyone else is playing and still have fun.
I have a lot of trouble doing that in this game, as the AI is constantly ****ing draining my resources to
zero.

At the end of a match the ally will have made 300 units, of whom 200 died, while I will have made 100 of
whom 20 have died. I can somewhat control the ally by giving him orders to come protect me as I will
inevitably have not enough units to do so myself at the later missions.
But I cannot control what units he has, I cannot control his tactics. So no artying the enemy base, with
protector units waiting nearby the arty out of the enemy range, for example. It's like playing with a
retarded 4 year old that just keeps clicking the build buttons randoms as fast as it can.

Right now I've given up on the campaign, and I'm just gonna wait till some of my friends get the game,
then hope they are at the mission I am, are willing to play, and are behind their computer at the same
time as I am. And then get frustrated when they don't give any shit either and just keep behaving like
mongoloids, or **** around wit me on purpose for shits and giggles.

Yo I'll be getting the game tomorrow, if one of you guys want to co-op a campaign from the start with me send me a PM at some point.

Gray Fox. Give it enough time and hopefully they'll sort the AI out. In the mean time PLAY WITH A GOD DAMN HUMAN. Also your friends suck, get new ones.

I absolutely love Red Alert 2.

But RA3 aint going near my disc drive while EA is on the front of the case.

Damn you people with this game already D: Really looking forward to getting it, kirov airships still in? *prays*

Is anyone else experiencing random "hey let's all retreat to the construction yard" syndrome? WTF, it's pissing me the hell off right now.

So awesome.

"You might even buy 9 copies! And if you do, you should at least seriously consider it."

I have no internet connection 5 days a week except on university computers. On the weekends I have dial-up. I have all other C&C games bar SS and KW and I can fully play all of them on my own. Why the hell can't I with this one?

... you can. The AI isn't bad from what I've seen. Also in the missions i've played my allies destroying or capturing structures count towards the objectives for me.

I really want to play this... But it's going to be a long long time until I'm able to.

You can the AI is fine Grey Fox is spreading lies. I've played with the AI and it's perfectly capable of handling itself.

They do suck, they continually keep attacking and getting their asses kicked, while in the mean time
draining your funds

Money is split 50/50 the AI only wastes it's own money.

they can also make you fail at bonus objectives by capturing buildings you had to
capture before you. And you can't recapture them cause they be your allies.

From what I've seen if the AI captures the objective it still counts. You might be talking about capturing buildings you need to destroy but I've never seen the AI send an engineer to anything but Oil derreck type buildings and specific objective capture buildings.

I'm not spreading lies the AI is dumb and hardly capable. I don't know at what difficulty you're playing
but at Hard the AI will hardly do anything but defend itself. And sometimes it will fail at that.

The money is indeed spread 50/50, that was my mistake .

And No it does not always count, in the mission where you have to capture 5 banks in Geneva the AI
captured 2 of those and I couldn't complete the bonus objective. It does count with a main objective.

I did that exact same mission Gray Fox, the allied AI capturing them counted for me. Are you sure the enemy didn't recapture the banks? That happened with a couple in my game and I had to take them back again.

Obviously the AI will be comparitavely less capable on Hard mode... otherwise it wouldn't be hard now would it? If you could just turtle and let an awesome AI fight your mission for you there wouldn't be any challenge.

The following questions will deterimine if i should get the game:

1.Are there mamoth tanks? (apocalypse tanks whatev)
2. Are there tesla coils?
3. Are there prism towers?
4. Are there V2 rockets?
5. Do the soviet infantry reply with the same level of awesomeness as in RA 1 and 2 ?

Yes to the first 4.
5 is subjective.
