Red Dead Redemption Official Thread

I wish more people would play hardcore mode, I can never find a full game. Playing with auto-aim/lockon is so ****ing stupid.

I usually don't have too much trouble finding hardcore games...
are you on 360? add me up if you are cause I don't know anyone else that plays RDR regularly, much less hardcore :p

double XP weekend starts tomorrow 1pm EST through to sunday night

maybe this will help alleviate the profound sadness i went through on losing all my levels.

says that it counts everything on the red dead website.

So I just got legends and killers pack, and wonder, does everyone see my new awsome tomahawk, or what?

What's the difference between that thing and the throwing knife?

I would have gotten the DLC but purchased Monday Night Combat. Having a blast with that game.

Hell yeah! I'm actually really surprised how much fun I'm having with MNC. I was really surprised, also, I already hate the f*cking assassins though.

Just got rank 50, I had to grind the Pikes Basin gang hideout a lot. Started at like 9:00 PM and just finished up (it's like 7:00AM here now.) It took that long starting from rank 32, through if you do it solo you get about 3000 XP everytime.

got my bull. 10 levels away from getting buffalo. went around in public free roam games and dropped off my mount for random strangers so they could use it, they still killed me :upstare:

Double xp is nice.

PSN down for maintenance half way through the last day of double xp for an undetermined amount of time, not nice.

completed the game, was going to write out a long rant about how ****ing shockingly shit the ending is but, like i've done with most of this game and it's shitty storytelling and narrative being obsolete and rubbish, i went to wikipedia to figure out what the **** just happened and it turns out there's one more mission or so to do.

if that doesn't explain shit, then the rant returns. right now, this game is seriously close to becoming something lower than a five out of ten for rating.

Tbh, this. I can't even get into this game. Still at the mission where you go to Mexico, and it just seems so boring now. Loved it at first, but it just seemed to get really lame really fast.

Its actually quite repetitive, and the open world is a bit of a drape over your eyes as there's..well..if you look at it like..no, there's almost ***k all to do in it.

i haven't even gotten around to hating that part of the game yet, i'm still stuck hating the story and boring gameplay

game was fun for the first few hours, now i just find it a drag

stop gettin mad at video games

why? it's a legitimate form of entertainment that i can criticize. i'm not exactly mad - if for whatever reason you think that my swearing, also known as dramatizing my point and distaste for the poor storytelling and narrative, is me frothing at the mouth then you're pretty mistaken. i'm contempt with the game, i just don't think it's as almighty as i was lead to believe by people in this thread when it was released. once again, perhaps i'm a victim to hype.

I got as far as the completing the train mission in Mexico, and...I can't bring myself to go back. So, so boring.

oh yeah, that's another thing but i think i might of already mentioned it - what's with the ****ing train missions? i was lead to believe that, you know, being a western there would be a badass moving train heist with you jumping onto a train via the tail wagon and working your way to the front using nothing but your fists to beat up enemies that climb up to get you... but as i recall, the only missions you do involving a train are either board it from the front and stop it, man a gatling gun on the back and then one dubbed ''the great mexican train robbery'' where you DO steal it... when it's stationary at a platform. how thrilling! what's even more thrilling is defending it from - that's right! - wave after wave of rebels who you work for later. i wouldn't let that man join our ranks, nosiree.

i blame the load screens. they show a picture of john marston jumping between carriages, and there is another screencap that shows marston manning a dynamite pump with the composition and main focal point of the photo showing a train crossing a bridge. sweet, i get to blow up a bridge/train! oh wait no it's actually you on a rock near a bridge and instead you blow up a convoy of wagons

wagons, man. jesus christ

RIDE SHOTGUN AND DEFEND THE WAGON

****sake

i take it back, i am actually quite mad at this game for being almost everything good about western films but yet somehow (?) being nothing like them at all. i'll leave that up to viewers to work out as even i can't comprehend what i'm babbling about anymore.

The Undead Nightmare Pack is an upcoming piece of downloadable content for Red Dead Redemption. The release date is late October. The Pack will feature an entirely new single-player campaign that follows John Marston as he tries to find a cure for the highly infectious zombie plague that has spread across the frontier. The price will be $9.99 US dollars, or £7.99 or 800 Microsoft Points. Here's the content in the words of Rockstar:

Wait... John Marston? I would figure Jack would have to do it... and kill his zombie dad.

Hmm might have to get this. I wonder if there will be zombie cougars :O

88 pages and still no PC version announced.

Seems like, I don't know, there might be a demand for it. Just sayin'.

I was hoping for a pc version, since I recently "disposed" of my xbox.

Rockstar - testing the waters, perhaps, for a full-on graveyard shooter.

Or not.

Anyway, it looks like good promotion for RDR. I hope they release a PC version with all the DLC packed together.

Hah, that looks ridiculous. In a good way.

Looks like it would be rather boring.

Maybe if the RDR world wasn't so massive and empty.

Man, what is wrong with you people?? This looks utterly kick-ass!! I mean, the cannibal missions were totally awesome and disconcerting and sure as shit sent a shiver up my spine. This looks like it should serve to send the creepy-crawlies down your all your lager-and-limes!

ya I had my doubts about this but it does look pretty awesome
the gunplay in RDR is just so fun, it'd be a shame not to be able to kill zombies :p
too bad I sold it . . .
