Release date revealed?

Well, usually that would mean nothing. But what the tweaknews.com said sounds like they're quite sure about it :p

Don’t be so pessimistic you ass... I am sick and tired of people wining about delays and release dates, just be cool and wait. Some day hl2 will be out and you will play it, because if you wouldn’t you wouldn’t have spend 300 post's on this forum.

I surely hope not. The game, as it stands, will infact be released upon the completion of President Bush's crack addiction rehab.
Thus, expect the game, summer 2000004.
 
I think it's been pretty well established that reports such as these shouldn't be believed.

Yeah, you should decide when HL2 is coming out. I'm sure Gabe doesn't know anything about HL2's status.
 
I remember Wal-Mart and all the other retailers thought September 30th, 2003 was the release date, and they were wrong. Then again, so was Gabe Newell, Valve, and the rest of the world.
 
I'm gonna say September at the earliest. I don't really have much to base that on, but they did say they were targeting summer for completion, not release. So assuming all goes well with their schedule for once, it will be finished and ready to be shipped out by the end of summer, ending up in stores by September. Just my outlook on it of course, I wouldn't be suprised if it were released later.
 
No, I think it will be in stores this summer.

Tweaked pulled that release date out of their ass, cause if valve gave an official release date to anyone, it would be all over.

I dont know about the rest of you, but I'll believe the Half-Life 2 release date when I'm holding the game in my own hands.
 
expect it in 2005 because then if it does get pushed to 2005 you won't be dissapointed, inversely, if you expect it in 2005 and it comes out this summer then you can be happy, well until you play the game and start bitching about "missing effects" and everything else that people complained about regarding the new screenshots.
 
I'm quite positive with the current estimated release date, around june-july as I have plenty of stuff to do until then to keep myself busy. :p
 
I expect 2004. I believe them this time. They got it right the second time on the orriginal. Why not now.


Plus, I don't think they would set summer as the time for release if they wernt more sure than they were last time. I know I wouldn't make the same mistake twice. Why should they?
 
release date threads are pointless, no matter who says the date is reliable

NO ONE will believe it until the game has gone gold/is in store shelves.
seriously, I doubt anyone even trusts what Gabe says regarding release dates at this time.... or Vivendi... or Doug... or anyone else... especially some news source online

I reckon a summer Jun-July release date, couple of retail websites ive been on hav said 2nd June so if it doesnt be realsed then Valve hav seriously Fúcked up. :D
 
Valve are going to try and give out a specific release date at e3, so just wait until then, and they'll maybe have what we're looking for.

it's becoming apparent that summer is the intended release date, as was stated that late summer is supposedly the time. would be nice to see it in july though. of course, dont be suprised if its not out till sept 30 or later...
