What is your opinion on the release date? When do you think we will see Aftermath?

I don't see it coming until Spring of next year, really. Half Life 2 for Xbox is out this month and they are still updating CS:S and DoD:S, so they will probably be working on it for awhile yet.

I'm in no hurry, cause if I do buy it, it won't be until May or later.

November. Theres a review coming November 24th and the guides are scheduled for release soon. Aftermath will be released before the year is out.

My only gripe with a November release is that it leaves around 10 days of this month to announce the imminent release of the game (I'm thinking they would at least announce it two weeks before it is made available over steam).

So before the end of the year yes, but maybe not November. Anyone got any more ideas?

I hope you are right. Would be awesome if it came just before or even on christmas :>

It would be silly of Valve to realese it on/a few days before Christmas. They loose alot of the present market that way.

then release it on my birthday, like HL2: DM!

November 30th

I'll be celebrating my first quarter of century with Aftermath!

Ah if I recall right, didn't they say it and LC were gonna be out before summer was over? Bastards! Yes November.

End of November.
One of my local retailers has the date for the HL2 Platinum pack set as Nov 26, which includes Aftermath.

June 2006 is my guesstimate. Just based on the fact that HL2 and LC were both pushed way back from their original "release date". Back in April, people were anticipating LC by Memorial Day.. what a joke..

Several weeks on from Lost coast and you've still got people pissing and moaning. Christ.

Well said.

You have to decide what would you prefer, people. A big disappointment (like Doom 3/Quake 4) which is released on time, or the cream of PC gaming which gets delayed, in order to perfect it?

Stop criticising Valve for putting back release dates, and thank them for constantly bringing you the highest quality games. Remember, Half Life 2 is still the best game on the PC - by a long way - over a year after it's release

Hmm, don't seem to think that Doom 3 and Quake 4 were dissappointments, although it is a matter of opinion but meh, i consider them both to be brilliant. As for Aftermath, i ain't fussed when it is released, a game as good as HL2 is worth waiting for.

If not this month, next month. Probably no later than Christmas.

C'mon; the sequel to the second-most well known shooter in PC gaming history averaging 80 percent? To the vast majority of people it was an unreal2 level of disappointment.

I said December back in the summer. But I seriously doubt it now. I Say Winter 2006, by that I mean Feb but most likely March.

I never actually played the first or second one tbh, been wanting to for ages though, maybe i should try and find myself a copy of each .... god knows where i can get one now though :x

fu*k! haha lmfao and I guessed September.. must have mixed aftermath with another game.. but how? bahh! :p

Well, if you buy the collector's edition of Q4, you get Q2 + the two expansion packs.

VALVe wouldnt risk their believeability again. It's November

You can pick up copies of the first 3 Quakes off eBay for peanuts.
Although you will not appreciate them nearly as much as you would when they were released, as they really were quite astonishing achievements. This is why I see Quake 4 as a huge disappointment, because I expected some level of pioneering.

It's all gone a bit quiet with Aftermath news recently. :|

Now okay, Steam allows Valve massive and instant advertizing to millions of people and they can just go "Here it is!" and sell a vast number of copies while not bothering with publishers, stores, magazines, advertizing, etc. anymore... but an update would be nice from Valve. How's it going?

Shouldn't there be a "gone gold" announcement if they are selling it in stores as well? And shouldn't that be around now if the release is in the next month or two?

Aftermath news is scarce but to be honest if they are working harder to finish it then thats great.

DOD Source did not have a gold announcement...

Valve had believability? After Half-Life, Team Fortress Classic, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Half-Life 2, Day of Defeat and Lost Coast I would have figured people would stop listening to Valve's release dates when they're made more than a month prior. :)

Its only Amazon, honestly. They thought the dam Xbox version was going to be released on December 15th once upon a time. Look, theres a review due on the 24th - thats grounds enough for me to believe a 2005 release.

I swear that same Amazon page said Nov 22 last week.

And DOD S is a retail product after all...

Well There U Go????????? Damn Damn Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Half-Life 2: Aftermath Update

I'm sure most of you will have recognised by now, that a full scale release of the next Half-Life 2 episode, Aftermath, isn't really going to be possible in the November ETA that has been speculated on previously. I've had this confirmed to me by Doug Lombardi this evening, with a revised ETA:
Just wanted to give you a quick update on Aftermath, specically its ETA. We're working very hard to finish this new episode for HL2, however, its going to take us a bit more time to get it into top shape. As such, the target release for this one is now Feb/March of next year.
Undoubtedly many of you will fail to see the positive side of this, so allow me to elaborate. Judging by Doug's statement there, it seems as though Aftermath isn't finished or if it is finished then it's currently not good enough to be appreciated by us all.

More news coming in the next few weeks.

What's going to happen with the PCGamer review? It's out nov.24th!

that sux, NEXT YEAR for aftermath, they should have forgotten about dod source and lost coast and just produced aftermath, then release lost coast as abonus and then dod source.
