Sweet the forums are coming back? Yay! But will it still have the downloads that were in there before?
 
when I play them e3 level I go to a place like a test area and it has water and some objects and after a while the screen fades and I end up in a black room. can anyone help?
 
Also remember you can't just go about porting the beta content from point A to point C, the version of the models run on an older version of source, and makes it almost impossible for simple use of 'em, for you'll got to port them through 3dmax plug-in, but it isn't great to use as it only ports the mesh, and none of the extra's like movements and stuff, but if it's simple props... then you'll be ok.

In HL2 it's ten years and in most of the Raising The Bar stories it's ten years.

fine then, one decade of decay and misuse by the combine, no need to get picky with ten years here and ten years there:upstare:
 
I'm pretty sure they've decided on it being two decades. It was never stated in HL2. Valve are always changing things as they go anyway. But yeah, originally it was 10 years.

I think in saying nearly two decades, it's basically saying about 15-18 years on. But it isn't like they are going to stick two decades on the Episode 1 story overview if it's wrong.

Where? I wasn't aware that any nod was ever made to the period of time, and one or two facts make 10 years less likely. Number one among them: combine occupation and the supression field has to have lasted around 16 or more years because there are no children, a fact you can ascertain by looking around you and confirmed by the resistance members "I'm just glad there are no kids around to see this". Of course, if you're having the slave-kids back into MI, 10 years may be a more appropriate time. Alyx's age may also be a key to the elapsed time, but we don't know for certain when Eli's family picture was taken. We know from Kliener's noticeboard that Alyx was only small when she first knew him, and Dog apparently grew as Alyx did for her protection. From Dog's size at "yay high", and the apparent need to protect her (surely only in the post cascade years), Alyx must have only been small when the cascade happened. It's not 100% certain though, but Valve now say it's been 20 years regardless of what was said prerelease (though as far as I remember, it has always been 15 to 20 years...)

Pg 138 isn't strictly commited to a date "makes it fairly easy to say that 10 years have passed in a blink of an eye". Also, it's dated 4 years before HL2's release and thus dubious canon. Aside from that, there is pg 192 "each sector telling a bit of story of the last 10 years", dubious for the exact same reasons.
