Oh shit. Oh what the shit.

The story picks up seven years after the first film (and Donnie's death) when little sister Samantha Darko and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions.

Fisher said in a statement: "I am a great admirer of Richard Kelly's film and hope to create a similar world of blurred fantasy and reality."

Producers have spoken to Richard Kelly about the project but he is not involved in any official capacity at this stage.

Simon Crowe of Velvet Octopus added: "I think there is a new generation of cinema-goers who will be very excited to see this film."

Crowe quipped to ScreenDaily: "Donnie's not in [the new film] but there are meteorites and rabbits."

The project starts shooting May 18.

What do you guys think? Maybe they should just leave it alone? I mean shit, Richard Kelly doesn't even have anything to do with it really at the moment.

Sigh. Another good movie will have it's name tarnished by way of a miserable sequel for money making.

to be fair, it doesn't bother me because i'll probably not see it and like everyone else, i'll dismiss it as the laughable sequel that no-one cares about including the director that as of yet isn't endorsing

We can just pretend it doesn't exist and everything will be alright.

I'll watch it, be sad it sucks, then watch the first and realize it was badass.

Good ****ing god.

In an alternate universe, I go into a wormhole and /facepalm myself in the past.

I'm just hoping it is much better than Southland Tales, which sucked balls

Uh, Donnie Darko is a film that really doesn't need a sequel.

"I think there is a new generation of cinema-goers who will be very excited to see this film."

What new generation? The movie is seven years old! Why in god's name do they think that *this* of all movies ever made need a sequel?!

"I am a great admirer of Richard Kelly's film and hope to create a similar world of blurred fantasy and reality."

You're an idiot. An idiot who can't make his own movie so you wanna work off someone else's masterpiece.

QFT

I'd be lying if I said that the prospect of a Donnie Darko sequel doesn't excite me in some way, but where can you go from where the first left off? Especially without the original man behind it?

I'll keep my mind open, but I'm expecting failure.

Oh god. This proves right here that hollywood has ran out of ideas and pulls sequels out of their ass.

To all those naysayers that still say hollywood is original, I give you the donnie darko sequel :|

/facepalm

NO

Wow, talk about unexpected.

This is one of the few movies that I ever thought would get a sequel.

WHY?! GOD DAMN IT WHY??!?!?!?!?!?

I made a sequel to the bible!

Someone really needs to do a contemporary retelling of the bible, much like what happened with Romeo and Juliet :p

"A timid-pacifist called David, with usual smoking and constant laziness, managed to kill Genetically enhanced super soldier codenamed Goliath; WITH A GUN!"

Im going to pretend this is not happening.

My ever optimistic mind helpfully pointed me towards 28 Weeks Later and everyone's initial misjudged doubt about it. Naturally I swiftly reprimanded my brain and asked how dare it possibly find good points about a Donnie Darko sequel.

This is going to be the most embarrassing film ever. More so than any film ever made. Including The Adventures of Pluto Nash.

28 Weeks Later was an ok action film and nothing more.

I can't see any point making sequel to Donnie Darko, Well to be sure this generation doesn't need one.

Donnie Darko is quite good and I'm raging at my computer screen because of this abomanation.

Yeah I guess. But I think it's pretty overated.

The popularity of a movie has an effect on its sequels :arms:

Yeah I agree. But I kind of think that it's a movie alot of people put in top 5/10 or whatever just becouse it's a cool thing to do.
I mean seriously, look at IMDB top 250 and shit. Most on there is crap. I never saw what was so great about this movie.
I also think nr 2 will be shit.

Bump.

Prepare for face palm.

*trailer*

Holy f*cking christ that was even more awful than I expected. I will be truly surprised if it is not straight to video.

There is absolutely zero subtlety about it.

Yeah, you see what happened there was somebody had an opinion that differed from yours. You may think DD or some other high ranker on IMDB was crap but maybe not the next guy, so don't go off dismissing them as choosing a favourite movie because it's cool just because you didn't like the film.

I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
