Aye, I only used to carry that and the shotgun. But a little bit of variation for hunting bandits never hurts! :D

How do you get out of the X18 lab after grabbing the documents? It says "someone is holding the door" when I try to open it. o__O

?'m playing on hardest difficulty, and AI is still severly flawed when it comes to rushing'em with knife, I managed to kill entire military base in first area + respawning 15 Spetsnaz with a KNIFE, AND ONLY KNIFE, on hardest difficulty, this is AFTER the patch.:)

Dunno what you're talking about. I usually lose about half of my health whilst trying to rush anybody with a knife. They usually either kill me via lead poisoning, or I get killed by somebody else that's shooting at me (after losing about half my health to the guy I was rushing).

And thanks gunner :D

I've built up quite an arsenal now. :D Now all I need is a silencer that will fit on AK models. Any ideas?

It's time to stop being a complete pansy and finally go down into that underground lab after all my delaying.

wow sweet collection, btw how do you attach silencers? i have 2 atm in my inventory, do you drag it over the weapon or sumit?

I'm so confused. Just got out of the underground mine things and I have no idea where to go. I'm trying to get to the bar but I eneded back up at garbage instead :(

I was having the same problem just shoot the elctric thing flying around in the room then it will die and it will then go into a cut scene movie, then the door is finally open cause the thing you shot goes crazy and recks everything in the room . I hope it helps.

Just look on the map in your PDA you can mark where you want to go its not hard, But there is times where the arrow points into weird directions that isnt where you want to go so be carefull. Hope it helps.

First equip the weapon, THEN drag the item over to it.

I love weapon customization in this game. Just wish you could attach more shit to the G36 and pistols :(

I hope somebody mods more attachments in :D

The arrow just points in the absolute direction of where you need to be. It doesn't actually show you the path you need to take to get there, which often times goes in the exact opposite direction of where the arrow is pointing to.

I'm not understanding the story in this game yet, and I just shut off the brainscorcher. I just want to know why my character keeps passing out. That's the only part that really isn't making any sense to me just yet.

Anyone else find the RPG?
;)

Also, is there any news on if STALKER is going to be freely modable?
It's be nice to have a MOD community for it.

theres a couple small mods out (2x damage, 3x damage and others) most of the big mods are waiting for the SDK to come out.

I've found a few RPGs. One on the guy that shoots down the Heli in the Save Kruglov mission, and one on a guy that pelts you with rocket fire as you travel down the Monolith controlled road to the Brainscorcher.

It was funny though. He missed and hit the wall next to him and went flying :p

Shoot the distortion in the air, the thing that sets the flamethrowers.

Go to garbage and head north to the duty gate. They'll let you through now.

I left the underground through the wrong hole now I have to go back in and find the right one, which sucks. :-\

That's ridiculous, you should just be able to climb out.

Oh, and SPOILER:

I LOVE the poltergeists in X18. Freaking awesome. I was so weirded out when I walked into the lab and saw a pelvic bone floating in the air. First I thought it was a bug so I shot it, and it threw itself at me. My entire stay down there I was being pelted constantly by floating objects. Game is so awesome.

Those things actually scared me at first.

I'd be walking down the hall with my light open, and i'd hear something growl, turn around and whip out my gun, to see a piece of glass come flying at me and hit me in the face.

Got irritating after a while, what with throwing everything in existence at me. Especially having to use band aids every time I got hit by something sharp. Wanted to murder the bastards.

on the filefront stalker site there's a mod that makes the traders carry just about every item in the game.

Yeah it got to the point where I'd walk into a room and all the objects would rise up in the air as if to greet me.

k, so I can't decide if I should switch from my GP37 (G36 in real life) to a TRS 301 with a scope and a grenade launcher.

The G36 does slightly more damage than the TRS, has a higher handling rating, and has a higher rate of fire, but I can't mount an M203 on the G36 without using a modified config file, and even then the animations are severely bugged (to the point of making it unusable).

I have nearly 20 grenades stashed away.

Both have about same accuracy.

The grenades would be infinitively useful, and would allow me to stop carrying around hand grenades. It'd be really nice to just quick switch to the nade launcher rather than fiddling through the different types of hand grenades I have, and waiting for the switch animation to finish.

Then again, grenades are fairly rare, and the customized TRS is about a kilo heavier than the G36.

CANNOT DECIDE D:

Be hardcore and use only the Bulldog 6 grenade launcher. It's so fun! :D But it's true, that grenades are rather rare. Still, I carry it at the moment and use it occasionally cause it's sweet to kill people with it.

I've been debating that too actually. I've been carrying both now simply because my LR300's got a silencer as well, but from what I can tell, the G36 puts people down a hell of a lot quicker. Can't seem to find any attachments for it though.

If anyones interested, I found a little mod which changes all the weapon names to their real ones instead.

Anyone know where to find the Bulldog grenade launchers? I already killed chef so I can't get him to tell me where they are. Any tips?

Is there anywhere in the game where you can safely stash items? I was thinking of storing them in a random stash I pass by frequently but I bet the items will disappear at some point. I've got some health packs and ammo I want to store for a rainy day as it's too heavy to carry around all the time.

I don't know what chef you're talking about but the Bulldogs are in:

*SPOILER, rite?*
the Freedom Base in the building where their leader is/was, in a room to the right of the entrance. You need to shoot the padlock a few times to get there. The weapon is in a chest on top of the lockers.

to my knowledge it's a 100% safe. I picked the cross with the gas mask on it at the duty base. Pretty good location.

Finally did X18. Does anyone know what you have to do to get into the Duty base by the bar? The guy just forever says a load of shite about being at war with Freedom.

I think that's the same spot I picked. It's just between the gates to the Army Warehouses and Wild Territory - Rostok.

Just ordered another 2gb ram for this game. Well.. this game made me do it early, I was probably gonna upgrade it anyway in the future, and right now it's really cheap. So now I'm totaling 4gb corsair 6400C4. :D

Oh yeah ordered a good, silent GPU cooler with it (stock ati cooler of the x1950xt can be pretty loud sometimes). Thermaltake AT2.

there's another bulldog nade launcher in a basement of one of the houses in the bloodsucker infested hamlet northwest of the freedom base.

As for what assault rifle to carry, i just lighten my load up and carry two. Sell whatever artifacts you don't plan on using, sell yourself down to 5 nades, dump the 20 medkits you have down to 5, dump the 20 rad kits down to 5, only keep a single can or sausage, ditch your pistol and its ammo, bring along the extra assault rifle, and everything else should be ammo for your 2 assault rifles.

Also if you have space to spare, carry around spare armor. There's no point in letting bandits screw up your rare high tech pricey armor, bring along a cheaper suit if you can to wear when you aren't you know, trying to fight your way through chernobyl

LOL, I just noticed my reputation is "terrible", so I backtracked in my savegames to determine when it became such and it appears that massacring the Army outpost in Cordon, to get a quest item, brought my reputation from "excellent" to "terrible". Oh well, I tried to play it stealthy at 5am in the morning, but turns out the Army gets up early :>

It wasn't the army outpost. Definitely not the army. In fact you gain overall reputation by killing the military. Must have been something else you done :p

I fed my character 47 bottles of vodka and light kept surging in and out of vision and he was wobbling side to side. It was like I was in a boat.

Any stash will do, mine is in the bar. Very convenient.

You have to do x16 first.

Is there a pause in the action? I want to just roam around a bit, but still want to complete the tasks. It seems like every time I complete a task, another one is started. Also, do you know of a comprehensive guide to the game? A field guide to all the weapons, artifacts, creatures, etc.?

There are no time limits to storyline missons, so you can do then when ever you please. I usually do a storyline mission and do a couple side missions and what not.

The GameFaqs "STALKER" page has a fairly good guide. I'm not sure how comprehensive it is, but I know it does contain weapon and armor listings, as well as a walkthrough.

Same.

Nice and in the middle of everywhere.

Although I HAVE heard that if the area you put your stuff in gets enough traffic, you'll see a few of your items dissapear, and a few new ones pop by every so often.

Dunno if it's true, but if it is, then the area seems fairly traffic free.

I already carry two rifles. One un-silenced and un-scoped assault rifle for general combat, and a scoped and silenced rifle for sneaky and long range kills.

I know you get points for doing that, I'm #1 Stalker atm, but killing soldiers at the Outpost was the only thing I've done between two saves where in the former my rep was "excellent" and in the latter - "terrible". Maybe I'll load the one before attacking the Outpost and see for sure if that's it.

My first thought was that I lost rep after killing manyb Freedoms for the Duty, but that's not it.

I hate those damn bloodsuckers. It's not so bad when you're half expecting to run into one in a lab or out in Rostok, but I was just minding my own business searching around for a Duty suit which apparently is in one of the basements in Dark Valley. I started searching the buildings around the bandit base, and on the upper floor of one, I found a wounded stalker. I'm just about to give him a medpack when I hear that heart-wrenching growl behind me, I spin around and see the red eyes charging at me through the doorway, fire off the last 15 rounds of my magazine into it but the bastard got me while I was trying to switch to my shotgun. :(

hi just got stalker

however it runs like shit and it also freezes quite often so i have to load it back up again

my pc is amd 4400, 1 gig low latency ram, ati 1900 gt

however i have had to put the game on medium settings on 800x600 with dynamic lights on, because any higher it lags like a bitch
This surely cant be right i mean ive got a high end gaming machine and i cant play any where near maximum

i know having dynamic lights takes away some fps but surely i shudnt be playing at this low level of detail with my machine

i have latest cat drivers and latest stalker patch

I have an 1900 gt and I get 10-20 fps out of combat with dynamic lighting on. You should turn it off, and turn up other settings.
