And as for the guns, your trying to say that an ak which uses 7.62 ammunition compared to the 5.56 of the g36 is supposed to be weaker? No that makes no sense.Wouldn't you think that the more powerful bullet should get the job done?

Er... the AKs in that game take 5.45x39mm ammo, not 7.62x39mm. You're confusing the AK-74 (which the game used) with the AK-47. Which actually explains perfectly why they're weaker than, say, a G36.

So, I just read through my entire PDA just now and it really helps with the story. I wasnt really sure what was going on, because in game they dont really focus a lot on the story... but there are pages and pages of story and back story in your PDA. Everyone should just take a couple minutes and read though all the stuff in it.

how do you set the car to 3rd person view, or where do you bind that.

So do some quests disappear after some time? I have a quest that says 1 Day by it--does that mean it will be lost forever if I don't do it in 1 day?? I sure hope not....

I'm using the endurance mod ...it gives you 150kg of inventory space rather than 50kg ..it's actually quite handy as I dont have to constantly root through my stuff everytime I kill someone ..also has a side effect that allows you to sprint for 3 times as long ..I can sprint from starting point to almost to garbage without stopping ...handy when you dont want to walk huge distances

A couple of endurace artifacts takes care of the sprinting thing.

ya but the added space in the inventory is worth using the mod imho

Ah. Yeah, it sucks when you find all kinds of goodies to only realise you have no room for them.

I dunno, I like the weight restrictions. Makes you really think about what you might encounter next time you leave the township, and what to bring with you to counter it.

And on the realism side of things, 60kg is ALLOT of weight to be carrying as it stands :p

132 lbs. Good luck.

why is it that you can only use the cars at the beginning for the vehicle mod? There's like a million things at the garbage and I can enter any.

I give up on this sucka. Every save in Pripyat now crashes to desktop, tried around a dozen in different places at different times. The last healthy save is the gate from Red Forest. Even tried running straight through to Chernobyl from there without getting shot, but that doesn't work either as the game just hangs before I get to the NPP anyway.

The annoying thing is, I got into the sarcophagus already, but I ran out of supplies and decided to go back and replay it better equipped... :hmph:
I'm not about to start from the beginning again.
So near and yet so far.

Is it worth getting this yet? It sounds exactly my cup of tea but with people having huge issues with it and my rig being decidedly middle-range, I'm thinking about postponing playing till a) it's stable and b) I have a setup that will do it justice

i have the same problem, the games keeps crashing on me when i re-enter the garbage from agropom, i have no other recent saves in other areas, only from the beginning of the game...:(

I had the same problem with the game crashing in Yantar. I'd leave the mobile lab, go through the fence and it'd crash. It'd always crash at the same point so I took a different route and it didn't crash thankfully. I think it has something to do with the side missions repeating. I got asked to clear the area of Snork's in Yantar but I had alreay done that once before. Same with killing the Bandits in Garbage.

I've had 2 crashes and I've beaten the game 1.5 times. I'm doing it now with the 'super mod' thing:

500kg max weight
No armor/weapon degrade
Traders sell EVERYTHING

...I think it's more fun. Of course I don't recommend it until you beat it the 'right' way.

Thing is crashing for me too, right when I'm trying to go into the basement.

I've finished the game now. Was suprised some of the mutants rarely made an appearance. I only ever encountered 3 Controllers, 4 Poltergeist and 2 Pseudo Giants. I never even saw the large Rat apart from a dead one.

Man, the mutants are coming out of the woodwork! I did a bunch of side missions by the Army Warehouses after turning off the Brain Scorcher and it's a bloodbath at the border whenever I return. Fun! Seriously - the soldiers get their asses handed to them every time, which is mildly funny too.

edit - for reference, there'll be maybe four dogs, three pseudo dogs, four fleshes, and three bloodsuckers if things are really getting busy. There are boars around, but they don't come into camp.

Anyway, I'll post this tid bit I found in the game here. I wonder if it's a bug? Equip five Pellicles and some damaged armor and walk into a Fruit Punch anomaly and stand there. Your armor will slowly recharge to new condition! Anyone else tried this? Is anyone reading this 600+ post topic?

wtf how weird

Also, im disappointed at the lack of US servers, half or more are euro servers ><

Didn't know that. This 'feature' was nice, because my 200,000 RU Exoskeleton armor that had previously been chewed to 25% has basically been replaced for free. I'll do other experiments with Batteries (the electrical kind) to see if weapons heal or something else happens. I'm sure this is mentioned somewhere in these 600 posts, but the game is based on a story of a similar name that was made into a movie. Perhaps that explains the european favoritism?

I was talking to barkeep and I was trying to see how much I would have to trade for the stalker suit but I was like FU and left then I came across some radiation and was not getting irradiated then I checked my stuff and I had the damn stalker suit +11000 monies (previously only 7000)!

Where can you buy the Exoskeleton, I thought you can only find it at a point in the game when there's no turning back to the previous locations? Or are you using a mod?

How can you tell which anomaly is which?

Which anomaly is that formed in? I've never seen it.

Anomaly detection. Not all anomalies setoff your suits detector, but you can see the air distortions they make. Chuck a bolt at it to set them off and pinpoint their exact location.

*Slight spoiler*

Certain anomolies like the electric ones have a slight recharge time after activation. You can use the bolt to set them off then run through the area before it's active again. Handy for grabbing artifacts.

Oh... so you just need to match the anomalies reaction to its description in the pda? I always thought bolts were just so you can set off certain anomalies and get around them.

Edit: wtf? I was in the mack and mesh thread when i posted!

The exoskeleton is pretty useless where it's at, when you put it on you instantly get radiated. Same goes for gauss rifle really, I still use my VSS inside of the facility everything else isn't effective against the exo-suit guys (How do they survive the radiation?) beautiful shots inside though, best shadows ever.

you can't sprint with the exo suit either...which sucks. I use that green suit...

The SEVA suit ? Is so, that's the one i've stuck to for the majority of the game, does the job just nicely.

But I don't like the idea of looking like someone from Greenpeace ><

Im pissed off. The game has not arrived yet and i ordered it a week ago from play.com. Probably because of easter weekend.

That's why I prefer to walk into a shop and buy it there.
