Saddam Hussein executed in iraq

Yay, $200 billion later and a Iraq worse off than ever, we can finally all celebrate and feel content to know a man has died.

Also, the American death toll in Iraq has surpassed the death toll of the 9-11 attacks.

According to most Americans Saddam Hussein himself flew the planes into the world trade center and parachuted out right before impact, then fled back to Iraq where he continued to help al quaeda and send Donald Rumsfield angry emails.

Right?

Hahahahha! What a load of shit!
It's odd. I was so happy he was gonna be hanged. But now it's happened...*sighs* I just don't really know what to think.

Good.

Kim Jong Il should be next.

killing him on this particular day...makes ya wonder

Eid ul-Adha aka "Eid" aka Kurban Bayramı

obvious enough..no!?
look it up then.

You mean he is making his Haj towards eternal life?

And don't be so condescending. Some people are aware of islamic holidays when they are happening. I just wouldn't consider Saddam a devout muslim. Not by a long shot.

...dead tired of getting bad reception on his mobile phone whilst roaming in the jungle!

A death sentence should only be dealt out when it serves a useful purpose, not just for "revenge" or "punishment". Saddam was completely powerless, he was a broken man. Having him spend the rest of life rotting in jail would have been punishment enough imo. The way I see it his death has just served to piss off Sunni Muslims even more.

When Iraq is so unstable at present making their previous leader a martyr is just plain stupid, I'm sorry but this is just going to make clashes worse.

When they decided to put him to death they mustof known this. It's plainly idiotic, they must know it will provoke some serious reaction

He's a martyr to the sunnis only, they're the minority and they're the ones behind most of the sectarian violence. Get a clue.

"they must know it will provoke some serious reaction"

bravo madame soleil.

I don't know...I'm pretty impartial to the whole thing. Oh well, that's my curse I guess.

Well, he was clutching a Quran when he was hung, and this is the equivalent of hanging someone on Christmas morning. You just don't do it.

The thing is, this was meant as a slap in the face from the Shiites to the Sunnis in Iraq. More fans to the flames of civil war in iraq. wtg gg indeed.

People still think they can unify Iraq under democracy, but they are bloody dreaming! All that the US is managing to do is handing power from one group of A-holes to another group of A-holes.

As a noose was tightened around Hussein's neck, one of the executioners yelled "long live Muqtada al-Sadr," Haddad said, referring to the powerful anti-American Shiite religious leader.

So what we got now is a Shiite led Iraq primed to cozy up with the lovely Iran. Brilliant United States, simply BRILLIANT!

Well, it was an Iraqi court, not a western court, that sentanced him to death. People would do well to remember this.

Yes they are a minority, but it doesn't take many sunnis to cause more innocent deaths, so you get a clue. He was a man with no political influence anymore, if his death causes more enraged sunnis to murder more innocent people, Coalition or Iraqi's, then is it really f***ing worth it... No, thats my point.

Yay. Lets kill every dictator in the world. What a better place it will be if we kill all the people we hate. Hey I got an idea, why don't we go to iran and do the same thing!! :O What a Brillant idea!! Invade tomorrow!! No wait, invade new years day. Gotta go with the shock and awe again!!

They've already killed thousands, they're already enraged, they've already bombed a Shiite market place. The death of Saddam won't provoke a surge in violence, it will be business as usual in Iraq. You can bet your ass had Saddam not been hanged, they still would've bombed that market place. Don't you think that if they could somehow increase the rate of suicide bombings and attacks on demand just like that, we'd be seeing thousands of retaliatory strikes by now all over the news?

That kindof arguement has no real justification your just speculating on the part of what the sunnis are capable of, and retaliation isn't going to happen within the first day the impact is going to be over time. Who knows if it will be worse or if it won't, but in all likelyhood it will still flare secretarian violence up even more.

Absolutely right I was speculating come to think of it. I guess we'll see anyway in the months to come. Anyway hope somehow someday the iraqis will have their peace.

I don't like the idea of anyone being hung.

Makes you feel bigger that way.

All jokes aside, it's a far better punishment than what some of those countries around there do, including what Saddam had done to his people while he was ruling.

They could have just as easily tossed him into a wood chipper, moved down an inch a minute at a time.

@ raziaar: not permissible under international law ..handing over saddam to be executed to a non signatory party of the geneva accords is in violation of those self same conventions

Every Kuwaiti waited for this day to come...

did kuwait get it's day in court? how about the kurds? iranians? seems to me that saddam had a lot of crimes to answer to ..make a trial by international tribunals obvious ..wonder why he never faced those parties?

Who cares?

so why did they sign the accords if they're not going to abide by them?

obviously you have no respect for the rule of law, doesnt mean that others shouldnt abide them ..especially if they're trying to paint themselves as "liberators" or "harbringers of democracy" ..it's hypocritical

No, I don't have respect for the rule of law where that law serves no purpose.
So, one of the worst men in existence was given to the people he oppressed to execute. Oh, boo-****ing-hoo.
If Bush were somehow put in the same situation, you'd be jumping for joy no doubt.

the geneva accords serve no purpose? I'm sure millions of jews around the world would disagree

So, one of the worst men in existence

made by the US ..from the very first day when the CIA stuck a gun in the hand of a then 22 yr old Saddam (hired to execute baath party leader) to his very last breath the US made saddam what he is/was today

was given to the people he oppressed to execute. Oh, boo-****ing-hoo.

I'm sure you'd have no problem if blair/bush were handed to the iraqi people who've lost over half a million of their populace because they decided to lie their way into iraq

If Bush were somehow put in the same situation, you'd be jumping for joy no doubt.

wrong, I'm against the death penalty ..anyways had bush had a fair trial and then sentenceed to life in prison for every death in iraq yes I'd be happy but an eye for an eye is for those less civilized ..justice is much better served if he were to spend his remaining days in prison
