Secret Santa Unveiling On New Year or later?

If everyone sends their presents early, can we get them early?
 
I guess so, but I only have half the gifts so far.

Also I was discussing this last night, but would everyone like to have an unveiling of who your secret santa was on new years day or a bit later on?

I'm sure everyone would like to know who bought their gift but some senders might want to remain anonymous. I'll add a poll to see what people think.
 
Seems alright to me. It's the thought that counts after all, I'm pretty sure everyone involved is mature enough to realize that and be grateful regardless of what they received.

What's the point of keeping it secret? The whole point of this is community interaction and there won't be any interaction at all if it's completely anonymous. Buying a game for myself would work just the same if there's no unveiling.

Now you're in a real pickle. The people who dont' want to be revealed will be singled out and be found out through process of elimination if those who do want to be revealed are granted this.

Though, the people who want to know who gifted them can post in this thread telling their santa to PM them, or people who want to say who they gifted can do it in PMs.
 
It is hardly something to get your knickers in a twist about. I will stick to the results of the poll.
 
If we all vote, then even the people who don't want to tell will be outed. Surely you could just rely on people to reveal their identity individually if they want to?
 
Wouldn't you have to get both people permission, what if the sendee doesn't want to know who got them a gift, and what if the sender does, and vice versa.

well I don't mind either way. If my sender wants to tell me after then that's cool. Also I won't tell my sendee unless they ask after. I replied yes by poll just to say I don't mind it not being completely anon.
 
Even if 1 or 2 people have a serious objection, then we'll leave it up to the individual to say or not, rather than me just posting the list. I appreciate some people entered under the premise they were going to be anonymous (by the nature of Secret Santa) and that's how it can stay.

We can have a 'what did you get' thread on the other side :D
 
I don't really mind. Probably best to have a deadline for when it can be revealed if the user so wishes.
 
I'm with vegeta on it. I say the person who got the gift says in the thread that they would like to know who their santa was, then the santa can decide to PM them or not.
 
Every time I've participated in a Secret Santa you find out who gave you the gift when you receive it, the secret is only during the build-up to the exchanges.
 
I think knowing as you get your gift is pointless, it makes it secret santa only during the time when you don't actually care (before you receive the gift). As you get it, is then you are interested in knowing who gave you it. Not a chance we'll do it that way after all this work!

I would join in depending on what qualifies the person as a regular, i haven't made many posts, but have been a member for a while.

Part of the fun of this will be to get a totaly random game that maybe i wouldn't normally play.

But... that's entirely backwards...


If we aren't going to reveal who's who this christmas don't do it at new years, that'd be weaksauce instead let's wait till next christmas then we'll be even more interested in knowing who gave it to us, oh the suspense!
 
I'm kinda with Eejit, release them next Christmas if ever.
 
I think we should all be sent an envelope that we have to open on our death bed which has our present-buyer in.

EDIT: It wouldn't have the actual buyer in, but their name, however cool the former may be.

I wouldn't even remember that we had a secret santa this year, let alone remember what I got or if I even liked it.

I say we just do it after christmas whenever people get around to saying "'it was me!"

Or we do what Reginald was saying before his edit. Whenever the receiver is on their death bed, we send them the chopped up body of their secret santa.

This. I don't see why you would keep it a secret after Christmas. And I don't think it should be secretive either. It's not a big deal.
