I didn't say homos should not not be allowed, so long as they follow regulations and maintain professionalism, (masturbating to my figure while showering for example) I don't care. That's the part I'm worried about.

Ha ha, actually, no. What I meant was that some restrictions apply even for heterosexuals, both off-duty and on-duty. For example, a friend of mine in the NAVY who is an enlisted says that he is not even allowed to date his gf, who is a commissioned officer. And of course they can't make out in front of another officer, nor do men or women share the same berthing.

Even without the homosexual's, "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy, they still have to maintain professionalism. This is why the policy exists in the first place. So that there wouldn't be a whole bunch of commotion over something trivial when lives are at stake. (i.e. Without the policy, there would be too many cases of alleged homosexual harassment etc.)

Don't ask Don't Tell and homosexuality (and sexuality in general) in the military is actually a fascinating and multifaceted debate which absolutely is worth discussing, if done so in a way which isn't laden with homophobic and face-saving rhetoric of a repressed teenage forum troll. The military in several cases has taken people into court martial over suspected homosexuality, when in fact the person in question hasn't done anything to even suggest sexual preference. It's this kind of witch-hunting that makes don't ask don't tell seem like a dated piece of legislation which is long overdue for revision. Though no matter how many times you edit the fine print or change official guidelines it's attitudes which need changing.
