Silent Hill movie review *very minor spoilers*

his second big appearance is downright nasty and those that saw it will vouch for that....*gross*.
Let's just say that he pwned her.

The worst worst purple nurple, eva.

I didn't quite understand the movie, i never played the game either.

The movie was good, although the sound was REALLY loud in my theatre, when those little no armed things started screaming i just about covered my ears in pain.

Same here, although I guess it helps if you have someone who'd played the games with you to perhaps clear up some of the plot points. Though to be honest the story isn't really that similar to Silent Hill's although the characters are quite close.

Yeah....I was a little confused about it at first.

I started a thread to find out and I was told that it's mainly Silent Hill 1 with some creatures from both 1 and 2. So I fired up SH1 right away and, sure enough, the intro to the game has scenes in the movie. Obviously a few plot points are different, but it's definitly SH1's story, mostly. I'm gonna continue playing through it today as I got hooked yesterday.

LOL. That's one way to put it. QFT.

It certainly helps to play the game. Yesterday was the first time I touched SH1 since it first came out.....it certainly enriched the experience for me.

Or, if you have a PSP, they are "reportedly" remaking the game calling it Silent Hill: Original Sin.

I didn't, and won't read anything in this thread because I don't like discussing movies until I see them, but for everyone here reading this I have this to add:

The movie preview that I saw made it look interesting and very high quality, which surprised me since most game-movies / movie-games are pretty bad. Looks good.

I'd like to see it, and when it airs on satellite, I will, and I'm sure I will enjoy it. I don't think I will enjoy it enough to warrant 3 threads about it :p , but here is to hoping

Why not just go to the movies? I cant imagin waiting that long for something i can do this very sec.

My flatmate went to see this with a couple of my mates, they all said it was utter rubbish.

:|

Don't think I'm going to bother with this.

Your flatmates are rubbish D:

How hilarious was the Wes Anderson American Express commercial?

"Can I get a .357 with a bayonet attached?"
"I don't see why not."

I also think this movie has a good chance of doing well financially because, at least from the previews they're showing, they're playing it up for what it really is, a horror movie.

So all the people that know nothing or even that it IS a game movie will just go to see it because it's the latest 'horror' film that's out there. So they'll get all the residual tickets and stuff.

Even if this movie was completely awful with no redeeming qualities at all, it's ****ing gorgeous to look at

I thought it was a great move, atmosphere was well done, very like the game. One thing though, i've played the first two silent hill games, but I just didn't understand the end of the film :( Very confusing. Can anyone explain?

I think it was meant to be abstract, almost symbolic for something else.

My friend suggested it was about going through divorce.

Its a reference to the 2nd movie. There are a few interviews and the making of on the net might help you understand it. To long to explain in words.

It is very abstract and symbolic but it is NOT about divorce. That is a nono :p

Just watch and read the interviews if you have trouble understanding.

When something's abstract and symbolic, it can have more than one meaning :p.

100% true but in this movie its NOT about divorce. You can tell by the way they love each other and NEED each other during the movie. Its the complete opposite of divorce.

Notice how she doesn't tell him where she's going? She doesn't even involve him in the matter. The cop comments "Marital problems?" when Rose goes to Silent Hill without him. There's plenty of subtle hints.

Thats simply because he doesnt agree with her. Every couple dont agree on things. Notice how they need and look for each other durning the whole movie. Notice the only thing keeping them alive is the hope of seeing each other. Director confrimed that btw. I knew it wasnt about divorce but reading and watching the interviews/making offs it confrimed it. Which is why im posting that thoery is false.:bonce:

They didn't need or look for each other the whole movie. Only the husband did. She was more concernced about the girl.

And the ending, like I said, it's very subtle. I'm not saying this is the meaning. I think its a combination of that with blind faith and why having blind faith is wrong.

rgr. But she was looking or "needing" him in the scene she breaks down and they pass each other. Another thing is she admits on her mistake.
