By playing Emergence, the first instalment of the steam-distributed SiN Episodes series, you are committing numerous foul sins. First and foremost you are succumbing to your deepest subconscious Freudian desires of lust and longing; the game’s antagonist regularly torments you, her ample bosoms and curvaceous figure the perfect aphrodisiac. [br]Next is murder - barely five minutes in, and another commandment has been shattered with a single uranium magnum shell to the brain of an unfortunate foe, who’s head ruptures in an explosion of blood and skull fragments. [br]Greed is three –throughout the episodic adventure, health packs and ammunition will prove vital; but a gluttonous player will absorb countless numbers of each and devour preposterous amounts of tax-payer funded medical equipment. [br]And finally, by sitting at home, staring at your computer screen, you are displaying apathy, indifference and laziness. [br] [br] Therefore, if you purchase or have purchased SiN Episodes: Emergence through Steam, you are a sinner. Or should that be SiNner?

Yeah, she talks to you about 2 minutes into the game, dressed like that.

I felt kinda nervous, if someone had walked in while I was playing, they'd have probably thought I was watching porn or something.

she's rather unnatural, and not in a cool artistic way in my personal opinion.

but the game seems fun as hell from what i've heard from disturbed. you can apparently shoot peoples' heads off! :O
 
I played for a little over 2 hours, before it crashed. It's pretty fun, but I'm still waiting to be 'wow'ed.

My god, i started it on Extreme for the AI Adjustment with no help at all, and its solid :| ... they don't miss my face ;( but i want it to last as long as possible, its bloody beautiful, well worth me money and the wait <3 <3 <3 <3 back to it now :D
 
Good fun...but it doesn't seem to want to load halfway through the tanker section. It goes into load, I waited 12 minutes and then decided that it simply wasn't going to do it.

Nothing amazing, but good nonetheless.

Yeah, I liked that. There's an amusing homage to the Kevin Smith movie "Clerks" too.

And I also hit the crash halfway through the lab.
 
LOL I've already had to use buddha command once you get into the room where sub is(big white room), I will have to try it tommorow its pretty hard to get past it, I keep dying, ironically with buddha on. Oh and the stats call me a "CHEATER" HAHA.

I can see what somebody in the other thread meant about HL-style mapping.

I'll probably wait until three eps are out and the price falls a bit, and I hear more about the other eps. Yes, each episode is relatively cheap, but once you buy the first (unlike other games), you're committing to subsequent purchases just as long as they decide to keep the series going. I'm gonna sit on the fence until I have a job that'll spare me the cash I'll need to invest in this. Although Jim Rossignol gave it 85%, so I am tempted.
 
The shooting seems solid, I can score headshots with the pistol nearly ever shot. I am playing on medium difficulty (slider in middle) and with help also in the middle.

The game is definately hard, I have died quite a bit already. A stealthy, hide and shoot approach seems to be the way to live. I can see new FPS players having a hard time, although I havent tried it on easy.

No crashes and it looks good. Runs worse then HL2 though and still a bit of stuttering.
 
Jesus. The game is so freaking fun. In my opinion the weapons feel a lot more satisfying to shoot than in HL2 - blood splatters everywhere, bodies fly apart in gore, the sound of ripping flesh echoes through the small space between your headphones and your ears. It's like old CS 1.6, where people died in such exaggerated / wonderful ways, unlike most source games where they simply fall limp on the floor.

What's your "Skill level"? mine averages out at about 80, which I presume is pretty good. For all you people saying it's too hard; it's probably because your skill level is really high (you've been playing exceptionally well) and so the game is ramping up the difficulty. Therefore, in order to make the game easier, you should play worse :D

The painting in the control room where you talk to Viktor Radek and the hologram of Elexis Sinclaire, is really cool. I kept staring at it for a while.
 
haha I noticed the hl2 reference on the street signs, like Lamar.
 
Lovely gore. If you nail someone in the head sometiems you get lovely skull anad brain fragments everywhere.:)

Elexis isn't supposed to look natural, she's the bio-mutation bitchqueen.
 
Towards the end of the episode, it becomes so fustrating... Is it infinite number of waves?
 
It's not THAT hard...... I've died a few times but they keep you with very low health for quite a while. I don't know exactly how the difficulty slider works, but it seems like it knows JUST when to give me just a little health.

and it needs more guns. the shotty is too inaccurate and idk...... i guess i just haven't been wowed. though the graphics look great and the jetpack soldiers are fun.

Lol, that damn "sidekick" just killed me. I was jumping into the cart while she was on the crane, but i missed. She then laughed and crushed me with it.

"lol nice dismount blade, let me lower it so you can get in"

Just beat it..I REALLY enjoyed it. The ending got VERY irritating though. Although I set the hardness to..hard, and the help bar thing to lower.

My skill was 75 or something about that.

all I can say is: it's good. it's not awesome story wise, but that'll fix itself through the other episodes I'm sure. The gameplay is really cool and challenging (damn that Dynamic Difficulty, just when I think I've been really good it cranks up the game and I blew it for a sec :p)

I got a Challenge of 85 something...

really nice overall ^_^

Steam says 560mb of disk usage and all the sin gcf files total up to 2.55 GB.
