Smoking...Do you?

I don't touch cigarettes (I've smoked a few but it's really worthless, the only good part is the whole "OMG SWEET I HAVE A BURNING STICK IN MY MOUTH AND THE SMOKE LOOKS FUN" and that's massively outweighed by the "Hey, this doesn't do shit for me but make me smell bad, turn my teeth yellow, and oh yeah like give me a 10x greater chance for cancer"). Cigars are all right and I don't mind smoking one every once in a while (we're talking like a few a year though).

However I do smoke pot. I try to do it as safely as possible (IE through water, I don't have the money for the safest option which is a vaporizer) and there's really not any danger.

Still, I don't care if other people smoke (it's their right to, after all), unless they're a girl I have my eye on... smoking is not attractive. It's like combining the fire of passion with smoke. Ick.

I've grown up with my parents smoking. So, naturally, I hate it. The smell is horrid, I can only assume that the taste isn't pleasing.
I don't hate people who smoke, I don't like that they smoke whereever they possibly can. I was in a resturaut a few days ago, and this kid (14 or 15) was having a party with a bunch of his friends (same age). One table over, a couple were just puffing away, not even attempting to blow the smoke away from the kids.

Not at all. He's a person that enjoys smoking. Very much like myself (cigarettes, only). We wouldn't think it's a good idea for someone to start smoking and wouldn't condone it as such, but we personally enjoy smoking.

And yes, we are quite aware of the health risks.

You're pretty prejudiced... why not read about them (real information, not on the anti-drug sites that are completely biased, try http://www.erowid.org/ for unbiased info on just about every drug imaginable) and change that? Acceptance pwns.

But its not addictive in the sense that you'll go through withdrawls without it

Pot's not addictive physically, but, like ANYTHING else (including chocolate and combing your hair), it's psychologically addictive.

My theory:
I suppose it's the addictive stuff in it, that changes the attitude of the brain cells to like the additive 'thing' in the smoke. The brain cells don't give a crap about health risks because they don't have a conscious mind unlike your conscious brain cells. But the cells that like the feeling heavily out number the cells that don't.

Besides, alcohol makes you irrational and causes kidney, liver and stomache problems
Weed makes you sleep and causes lung problems

They're both really safe to do, just dont do them too much, or you'll have problems

I'm slightly unsure of the supposed 'harmless' nature of weed...I know someone who was an avid smoker of it - five years ago he was getting A's in class. Just a year ago, he dropped out of school. That was the final leg of his descending arc.

But as far as I know it's still better than alcohol. Maybe it's just that stoners smoke a lot more than alcoholics drink.

No. A lot of research has established that there is no link between marijuana and psychosis/schizophrenia/whatever. Even the studies that do claim there's a link of some form have confirmed that it only occurs in people that are vulnerable to such attacks or have had a history of mental illness. In other words: weed does not "cause" any of that. It's dependent on the person just like any other drug. Surprise.

A lot of your posts in this topic are really uninformed. I'd go read up on it if I were you.

I have smoked cigarettes before, but only a few and it's not something I'd care to repeat. I smoke cigars very very occasionally and they're decent, and I smoke cannabis from time to time as well.
