You entertain youself with porn on occasion, and porn is nothing but video taped prostitution
I'm not personally against that, but its a whole lot worse than smoking is
 
I can't exactly help looking at porn, I'm a hormone crazed teen... But smoking weed is something on an entirely different level of how easy it is to not do it. Most of the people that do, do it because they think they look cool infront of others, which is way bad.

But after all this, don't get me wrong. I don't share this opinion about all people who smoke weed. Ennui for example is very responsible with it, and I am "ok" with him doing it. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't like it if he stopped.

1.) It's illegal. The law (which is based on irrational and flawed reasoning) is against us on the issue.

2.) The stigma. Some people have become so indoctrinated with the conception of weed being Satan's plant.

3.) It's futile a lot of the times. Because of the above reason, some people will simply refuse to acknowledge your argument. You could give them all the evidence in the world and they will turn into a stick in the mud on the baseless grounds that it's somehow immoral.

That said, I have no issue with telling people that I smoke weed. If they're rational, then they shouldn't have an issue with it. If they disassociate themselves from me because of my recreational activity, then screw 'em. My parents know that I've smoked weed and we've had lengthy discussions about the subject. They think the drug laws are ****ed up and their primary concern is that I don't get caught with it.

Do I parade this information around? No.

Perhaps you should all grow up to be polititions and argue your fine points to the government.

Oh, I'm certainly hoping that my generation has the balls to fight these archaic drug laws (oh, and the subject of video games). Even if you personally don't find weed appealing, that doesn't mean people should be jailed for it.
 
Ikerous makes a good point. I don't understand how you can possibly think that smoking makes the world gross. There's nothing morally wrong with it... period.

It's perfectly easy to not look at porn. I never considered closing my eyes to be all that arduous a task.

Yeah but you must remember, like you said, you aren't the only ones who do weed. It's illegal because SOME people abuse it like crazy, and it can cause a LOT of problems, like crime.

MY advice to you is to move to a place where it's legal, because whether or not I or you agree with the laws, I can almost gauruntee you they aren't going to be changing.
 
Pot doesn't cause crime, pot dealers do for the most part. Believe me, last thing on your mind when you're stoned is something angry and violent. Unless it's stealing some twinkies from the grocery store (which I don't do by the way, they're only $1.25 for a big box of them... orgasm).

Most of the crime that surrounds drugs is actually caused by the very fact that its illegal
 
And that's what leads us to the vicious cycle. By the way you may have gotten the wrong idea when I mentioned it causes crime... I am not saying I think it's bad because it causes crime; I'm saying the law won't be lifted because it causes crime, hence the vicious cycle.

Now before you go and say your "weed shouldn't be illegal" rant, which I fully understand; please just answer the question.

Would you rather be happy with life without an illegal substance, or with?

Obviously the answer is yes... Kind of a redundant question.

But look at it this way. I am happy without drugs. But if I were to experience weed, then I would be striving the rest of my life to have that great experience again, which could send me to jail or other bad things.

Now, wouldn't you rather not know how great this illegal substance is, so that you can be perfectly happy without it?

It's similar to the caste system in Brave New World.

I dont smoke cigarettes. Ill have a cigar ocassionally if im drinking. Weed, on the other hand, well lets not go there lol. Anyone who says weed is a gateway drug should be hung. No one I know of has ever gone on to try other drugs because of weed. As a matter of fact, most if not all the people I know did coke, h, etc when they were drunk. hmmmmm....

I can honestly say i prefer my illegal hobbies now more than i did my legal ones
Tv, internet and videos games are great, and i still enjoy most of em (tv sucks though)
But hanging out with friends, smoking a few bowls, doing w/e sounds fun
Its the times you remember, and it's definitely because we all share the love of mary jane :)
At least in my situation, i wouldnt be hanging out with em nearly as much if we didnt smoke

First of all, weed doesn't cause crime. The reason the substance is steeped in illegal activity is because it's a popular illegal substance. Same thing that happened with the prohibition of alcohol.

Second of all, yes there are people that abuse it like crazy. The same goes for alcohol. It's also safe to say that a raging and violent alcoholic is likely to harm far more people than a baked couch potato that sits on his couch, eats cheetos, and giggles at Aqua Teen Hunger Force. And let's not forget that prescription and over-the-counter drugs can and are abused as well.

Which is why the government needs to do its freakin' research on areas that have legalized/decriminalized marijuana.

Actually scratch that. They're probably fully aware of such information. But chances are they're not going to give up their scapegoat that comes in handy for elections.

As for your question as to whether or not I would like to live my life without illegal substances, the obvious answer should be yes. However, that's a very poor argument against marijuana as that does not address the massive injustices that have been inflicted on pot smokers. I could live a happy life without TV as well, but it would be absurd if it was criminalized.
Yeah, happiness without illegal substances is dandy. Which is why weed's legal status should be fought.

Weed is simply one of the many sources that a person can derive pleasure from. I believe I'm entitled to it.

Absinthe, you are a bit behind with your arguments, I have come to realise that you are correct on those aspects.

Oh, and I hope we are all still cool with eachother. Ennui I've already mentioned, but Abinthe, I really respect you, especially your bold mannerisms on the forum, and pretty much everything else I agree and relate to you with, including taste in music :)

i sometimes smoke fish and jerky, but that is about it. Man, that stuff gets you so high.

I like a pipe once in a while. A pipe is a lot smoother than a cigar. Keep in mind I'll smoke maybe a max of once a month.

Theres nothing quite like a smoke and a pancake. You can just sit on your porch, light up, and enjoy the sweet aroma of the pancake and the smoke blending together. Ahhhhhhh.....
 
After reading all the posts where i left of I can happily say vegeta is right! As soon as he said people say they feel great when they have got of the addictiopn of cigs... that put EVERYTHING into perspective even better. Smoking is stupid :)

Of course I have nothing against people who smoke, apart from their smokey breath lol, but I detest smoking itself.
