The lounge has been booked. The snacks and drinks are ready. At 10pm tonight a mammoth co-op session will occur.

'Cover me i'm reloading'!!!!11

Video games still get me excited like a little kid :)

Im still torn about getting it.

The controls are just too slow for me. It just feels really clunky and non-responsive. I can see me dying ALOT simply down to the controls.

But I know RE4 players will be fine.

Jill looks sexy in her new outfit.

Rented it today. So far it's resi 4 HD. Everything is the same as 4's gameplay. Same enemies, same weapons, same weapon upgrades. Even the locales seem to be re-textured Resi 4 ones: another mine f.e. Also the game basically punishes you if you don't have a coop buddy. Sheva's A.I is infuriating at times.

I find the pacing really suffers for it too. Constantly having to go to the menu screen(now it is done realtime btw) to combine stuff after every fight. You can't combine in her menu either for some unknown reason. The game just feels underwhelming so far. Oh yeh and it's not scary at all. Controls take getting used to. Using Type D layout atm.

They need to hurry up and port it to the PC. I know they will eventually, Capcom seems to be getting better in that area.

If it was scary maybe I would.
But I shall not.

Beat the game today, plot line is cheesy as hell (as expected) but the coop gameplay is absolutely fantastic. The length is a bit on the short side but for what it's worth, it is one of the best coop experience out there...

Very cool so far. It's RE4, only looking gorgeous and with co-op :)

personally, i'm not that excited about it
probably just gonna rent it or wait until it's dirt cheap
but... have fun! glad to see that some of you still get giddy about games

I'm hoping my friends will get it for PS3.

For those who played local coop, does the split screen still suck as much as it did in the demo on a widescreen setup?

this is coming to pc in the summer according to gamespot

Me three, but also like the new.

An old style RE with this engine would be very cool.

I'd love to see them have another take at it, providing they swallow their pride enough to fix the lingering issues the series has had to stomach since the first game.

i bet they will make some drastic changes to the series for RE6
i'd love to see a classic style RE game with the current engine
provided they work out the issues with the camera and improve the controls, it could be fantastic

Why fix something that was never broken to begin with?

WHAT!

I played the demo and thats all that bothered me was the controls. Most of the reviews talk about controls being bad same with inventory. Controls should be like gears of war.

Yeah, I've been thinking of changing to that.

i second the notion that the earlier resident evil games were far superior to what they have now...i still have vivid memories of that dog...

Gears of War

As much as I miss the old tension, I like the panic that's replaced it. There's a real sense of having to make each bullet count and fumbling for the right item can be nerve wracking in the heat of things. The game's very well suited to co-op playand visually it's lush.

I like how the fov is restricted. You have to look out for your buddy and vice versa as zombies can pop up beside you without notice. You have to cover each other while reloading, share items on the fly and, best of all, hold hands and leg it like a pair of girlies when you runout of ammo. Despite the realtime actionness of it all the game doesn't play like a realtime 3rd person shooter (which is why I think people have issues with the controls). It's a weird hybrid that still feels much like the original and even sometimes like turnbased shooters from years back. I get that sense everytime I have to stop and carefully choose whether to target their head, weapon or leg. The people who want to play this game like every other shooter out there are completely missing the point.

That's weird.. the review I read said bullets aren't like gold anymore, and they're everywhere, unlike the last games.

I'm always out of ammo and I tend to use the shoot leg-then knife enemy routine alot.

Nearly finished it now. So far it has been really underwhelming. Eurogamer was spot-on with their review. I can't shake the feeling that I'm playing the same game I played 3/4 years ago. The final areas seem to almost be placeholders, did they run out of dev time or something. I'm not a Resi fanboy. Only one I've played before was 4 and it was great. In coop it's probably good but with the A.I it is pretty disappointing. I'd probably give the campaign a 6 or 7 if you've played Resi 4. Tbh, without the Resi name, the game is just a bit better than other 3rd person hokum like Dark Sector.

I can understand not getting on with the game (especially in single player - the friendly AI isn't great), but comparing it to Dark Sector?! Dark Sector wasn't terrible, but a sub par GoW clone nontheless. It's also a completely different gametype to RE5.

I would prefer a more traditional single player RE using this engine but can't knock a RE that's been built from the ground up to be played in co-op. I'm a fan of co-op in all it's forms and this is unique - you don't need the symbiotic teamwork Halo 3 demands and it's not the twitch happy team race that is L4D, but rather something that's all about cooperation in the simplest sense. It's very Japanese - you're just sharing items and sharing the story. I wish more games took this kind of approach to co-op.

What I meant is Resi 5 is just a very average 3rd person shooter.

so... is it worth 60-70 bucks?
or should i just rent it?
and i'm sure as hell not buying the MP mode DLC... what a ***ing scam

everybody I talked to thinks it's just a polished RE4.....

If you have a friend who also has the game and is up for plenty of co-op, i'd say yeah, go for it. Single player wise it's a rental, which tbh is the case for 99% of single player games these days. *remembers when games you to last more than 10 hours*

everybody I talked to thinks it's just a polished RE4.....

Which is a pretty big complement.

but doesn't warrant a $60 purchase or in Europe up to 90 euros....

ya it's 69.99 at most places in Canada
but i suppose i could just buy it, play the crap out of it with a friend and then sell it on craigslist for close to what i paid
i might do that if i can't find a rental :p
