i'm gonna see it. i know it's very biased, but he openly admits to that. he's simply stating all the bad stuff, the stuff that gets noticed.

one thing is for sure, Mr. Moore is damn good at making a point.

I saw the movie last night in a packed theatre. The line for the next showing snaked around the theatre.

The film in some ways is much better than BFC, but perhaps not as satisfying. Here, Moore is more in the background, letting interview and news segments taking precedence over himself. While there is no climax as in BFC's Heston interview, one already gets the sense that the film really doesn't need one.
The film's bias is not towards Republicans, but towards a failure of intelligence and leadership. Using actual archival footage from the media, Moore constructs an argument as to why Bush wanted us to go to war: money and the preservation of the staus quo. Using very comical and deft editing, we see how the administration is seeped in bureaucracy and contradiction. The film is very biased. It shows a peaceful Iraq before the bombings, something that fails to recognize Saddam being akin to a present-day Mussolini. Nontheless, the bombs never hit Saddam, it hit families and children. Soldiers interviewed decry their own demoralization of the conflict.
Some facts exposed by F9/11:
*Facing mass demonstrations, Bush is the only president of the nation not to have walked the last four blocks in his inauguration.
*Saudi interests are composed of 7% of the U.S. economy, including all of CitiBank.
*Bush had blocked both a Congressional investigation and an independent investigation of 9/11 that year.
*Less troops were sent to Afghanistan than there are policemen in Manhattan.
*Despite the Dept. of Homeland Security, only one trooper patrols the shore of Oregon.
*Taliban leaders visited Bush Senior and other businessmen on September 11th.
*The Bin Laden family faced no questioning when they left U.S. soil.
*Iraq has never killed an American citizen in peace-time.
*Bush cut Army salaries and Veteran benefits.
*You can carry lighters and matches on a plane...but only six of them.
*You can make more money driving for Halliburton than fighting in Iraq.
Notice how these facts can easily be researched? Moore does not form his own conjectures, but rather let the facts speak for themselves. The documentary begs the question of the preservation of the status quo: Why should the poor man, to this day, fight the rich man's war? Why should kids in Flint, Michigan, unable to afford college, should risk lives to enjoy that priviledge? How moral is making billions of dollars in war-time?
There are some moments that are very funny, and some moments that are shocking and sad. One such moment was the story of Lila Liscomb, a patriotic mother whose ideals are shattered when she loses her son in a Black Hawk crash. President Bush does not have to answer to Michael Moore, but he has to answer to families like Lila Liscomb.

The film received a standing ovation in the theatre, and my vote for the first most important and controversial film of the first decade of the 21st Century.

P.S.: The last entity to ever conquer Afghanistan was Alexander the Great.

A worthy guess, but incorrect as always.

Yeah, that was really, really an unfeeling thing to say. Insult Moore all you want, but lay off the families of war dead.

you really cant talk unless you've seen the movie.

Its very powerful, so powerful it will change your views on many subjects.

Sorry but you don't join the Army just for the benefits and not expect anything to happen too, she should have been prepared for that.

Your opinion didn't deal with Kerry or Moore, or any sort of public figure. You were cruelly attacking the familiy of a dead soldier, who gave his life for this country. That's the problem.

Oh, and by the way, I do feel sorry for that poor woman. KERRY IN '04!

I was attacking the movie, the movie tries to make you feel sorry for some women who sent her kids into the Army so they could get free college or whatever she wanted, she is all for the war until one of them dies.
Bush in '04!

haha, i'm glad you consider me an asshole joey.. if someone like you liked me, i'd be quite concerned. foxtrot, you can have all the opinions you want, but when you come off as an insensitive prick, don't be surprised by the reaction you get. how did you think people would reacted to that?

edit: why don't you actually watch the movie before "commenting" on it.

I just think people are being unreasonable and so is that women, sure she should be upset but she shouldn't blame the war she should blame herself.

Well it isn't coming to my theater, I don't think I would spend money on it...so I think I will wait till it comes to TV.

She should blame herself for not being rich enough to pay for college?

She should blame herself for her son's decision to enter the army?

She should blame herself for the Administration going to war based upon false and misleading information?

Sheesh... I'd like to see that argument stand up in a debate :rolling:

No, maybe she should have cosidered community college.

Pogrom said:

According to an article I read it was her decision, but whatever.
Pogrom said:

No, but she should have known the risks, because we were already at war when he joined I bet.

PS - The author of Fahrenheit 451 is upset that Michael Moore didn't seek permission (or even talk to him) about using a similar title.

I don't think George Lucas asked Gene Roddenberry if he could call his movie Star Wars because Gene had made a TV-series called Star Trek...
"You can't use my word, bitch! It's mine! MINE!!!"

Yeah well.

Oh I dunno. I just could not resist.

alright mr. slutty, i really tried to turn the other cheek on this thread once and for all, but even after soo many pages, you still don't realise how insanely unimportant your opinions are to us, not b/c we just hate to acknowledge anyone elses outside of our own, but b/c you say you are absolutely devoid of haveing anything intelligent to say, but when you say the type of things like you did on marksman's pm and you still want us to take you somewhat seriously, then are you not only a simple idiot, but just mentally retarded, this is just stupefying to me on how you continue to press your meaningless points.

oh and if there's any confusion this message is pointed towards my pal joey

PLEASE!! See the movie! All of your points are addressed in it. You have no right to discuss Liscomb until you've seen the movie.

Its very powerful, so powerful it will change your views on many subjects.

As stated Moore apparently did not state any facts we did not know about before. Therefore all I can say for you my friend is that you were either uninformed or your opinion has been swayed by Moore's attempts to appeal to your emotions.

Emotional appeals: Good for gaining people over to your side, bad for "documentaries" and pieces where you want to bring out the truth.

This is college level English fellas, he's simply manipulating you by your emotions. Nobody wants to simpatize with the guy who apparently bombed hundreds of kids in Iraq. In the other hand he did not present the actual terrorist attacks that were wrecked upon innocent people ON PURPOSE (9/11 and many MANY other occasions come to mind). Was this somehow related to Iraq? Only the people involved in this know, but I'm a lot more willing to accept the fact that Bush is the lesser of the evils in this case (Saddam Hussein is quite possibly one of the worst human beings on my list). I could hardly care if there were any ulterior motives behind the move on Iraq, because as a matter of fact, everything that happens in politics is a mix of truth and lies, everyone has a political agenda, yes, INCLUDING Moore(more so than a lot of people if I may add).

It's sad that some people may fail to see this film as a biased piece of work which should only be seen for entertainment value alone. I'm sad to think though, that perhaps this film may affect the way people vote in the oncoming election. A lot of uneducated voters will actually take the information given in it as fact (their reasoning will be "I saw it in a movie, it MUST be true!") and use it as a base for their electoral vote this november. I am saddened by the fact that I cannot vote due to lack of citizenship but I at least encourage people to do their own research instead of blindly following along the trends other people set (apparently it's cool to hate Bush, "boo for war man! peace and love!11 The U.S should have never sent troops to WW2!111").

Oh and remember people, terrorism has been going on for a long time before Bush came. It went by almost unfought (taken as "unfortunate casualties" by past administrations) in the past administrations and this war has been brewing in the horizon for a long time. Clinton refused to acknowledge it, other administrations did the same, be glad that Bush at least took as stand on the subject and refused to be as wishy-washy as other presidents have been in the past about the subject.

*Sigh*

last I heard, the film was based on the premis that Bush/White House was working with the Aribic nations to get terrorist to attack the US so bush could attack Iraq....

riiiiiight. Something that far fetched isn't worth my cash. Glad it isn't coming to any the the theaters around here.

"last I heard, the film was based.... "

so you admit to judging it without watching it?

well, it's kinda funny that he hasn't been responding to my 6 word question, it just shows how unimportant your views can sound if you don't have a firm grip on what your talking about
