Some people are going to be very happy ...

You're not making any sense, the franchise will continued to be owned by Microsoft, as it has been for over 9 years..

So no-one's selling anything.

Anyway, I like the Halo games, there are far worse cases of milking franchises out there.

*Cough*MetalGearSolid*Cough*FinalFantasy*Cough*HalfLife

But metal gear is actualy good unlike shity halo. If its good make more. Nearly two thirds the kids at my school thinks halos shit and teenagers will eat any mass market shite up. Thats how bad it is.

The problem I have always had with Halo is that the levels are just so badly designed. Halo 2's opening level is a travesty and the the series insistence on making the player play the same areas copy and pasted over and over is nothing short of shocking and lazy.

It always bemuses me why people lap this crap up.

To each man his own, I like Halo, and I like Metal Gear Solid, and I don't mind them milking the franchises as long as the results are fun, enjoyable games.

Also generalizing is bad IMO, whilst certainly there might be many teenagers that eat any mass market shit up, not all do, and I reckon Halo's success is proof that it's a good game.

However, whether it is overrated or not, that's another issue entirely.

To be honest, I think many of the Halo haters, especially ones like the poster I quoted, hate Halo simply because it's trendy amongst the so called "hardcore" PC clique, same as when all the kids were going around writing "M$" and "Micro$oft" etc.

I got that impression a lot with Halo 1. I kind of assumed that the level design would get more complex in the sequels, but seems like I'll be disappointed on that one.

Some of us hate Halo just because it's a badly designed and lazy game that sells millions, when you have genuinely amazing games that sell like crap and put the devs out of business.

What amazing FPSes are out there? There hasn't been any descent FPS titles out there other than Half Life 2. But then again, HL2 is only on PC.

So it's not Halo's fault for other games' horrible sales.

Most good FPSes do sell well. When good FPS games fail to attract customers it is usualy due to bad marketing not competion e.g clive barkers undying.I cant think of an FPS that was good that sold like crap but I suppose I wouldnt. I dont like halo becouse I just think its a bad game.

I found Halo 3s level designs to be no worse than say HL2s or Chronicles Of Riddick, both of which are excellent FPSes in my opinion.

Did I limit my statement to FPS? I don't think I did.

Neither game had huge segments reproduced for an entire level. Sure HL2 had some building layouts that where repeated but these were few and far between, most of the games levels were unique in their style to other portions of the game. Imagine if you drove the same road layout every 30 seconds in the coast levels. It would be considered lazy and bad design, yet Halo does this with rooms and gets away with it.

As for Riddick, the same applies, excellent level design that always felt different.

I dislike halo becouse I think its a bad game not becouse its trendy or whatever. Also I think halo is more popular among console gamers not hardcore PC gamers. Most halo fans I have know seldom play PC games. I am aware there are teenagers that dont eat mass market shit up. I am a teen and I dont either.Like you said I was genralizing. I also dont define sales as succes but the quality of the game.

ITT: Idiots. Idiots everywhere.

And dogs can play Halo too Darkside. We just need special controllers.

Neither do I.

Also, it's funny how you choose to not comment the fact you got owned when you said XB1 wasn't powerful enough to run Source.:)

Edit: ROTFL, you're 14, everything's becoming clear to me now.
