Note this is running the game on 1024x768,i can also get 60-70 fps on 1600x1200 on high everything but i prefer playing in 1024x769 makes everything feel bigger lol.

anywhere heres my rig specs.

cos its the general gaming section, and i thought we should all show pics of our rigs running farcry lol

Whats the best radeon graphics card thats out at the moment or coming out pretty soon?

x800 xt platinum, although they say nvidia card is faster, but i wouldent believe that.....

I would take some pics of it on my rig.. but I find playing Far Cry to be a chore.

^^^
That person will have to be using a 6800 or X800 card - my 9800XT can barely crank out 20FPS on 1280 x 1024 with full AA/AF

Now I just want to see someone run Prince of Persia with 1600x1200 with everything on the max.
Does anybody know what nVidia cards are better than the ATI Radeon 9600 PRO 128MB ram.

Captain, the BS-O' Meter, she's a gonna blow!

Just completed the "Bunker" level , huh ?
See if you can get some LIVE Trigen pics for us ..... :D

heh, rage3d.com, general gaming forum SCREENSHOTS thread. lots of 1600x1200 max everything with AA and AF on with 30+ FPS shots.

x800 rocks! :) But I'm happy with a radeon 9800 Pro for the time. :D

So...the x800 could supremely boost up my framerates by maybe...a lot?

My computer: P4 1.8 ghz, 512 MB DDR ram, ATI Radeon 9600 PRO 128MB ram.

It'd boost them, but it's be bottlenecked by that processor

Get more RAM... I installed another 512 and Far Cry loved it. :)

Yeah, it drastically decreased the amount of times the game would 'chug'... because it can go longer without having to add/remove stuff from the memory.

I'm running 512 RAM at the moment, and Far Cry only seems to "chug" after loading up for the first time, and whenever the door to a large room opens for the first time. Did this happen to you before you upgraded?

To the topic starter: Take a pic of a live Trigen close up. :p

Yep. When you enter "new" areas, it chugs like that. I went from 512MB to 1GB, namely because of FC, and I'd have to agree, FC absolutely loved the extra RAM.

Also, the game no longer takes 2 minutes to close, it closes instantly :)

**** yeah! I'll be upgrading after my grad party. I don't know how RAM compatability works though. Do I need a stick of the exact same Brand and speed of the one I already have, or will anything work with what I already have. Right now, I have a stick of DDR 512MB PC 3200. Not sure of the Maker, but it came from HP. Do I need to get another stick from HP, or will it be ok to get a stick of Corsair?

You can switch brands just fine (I have three. :)), but don't get anything slower than what you already have.

So I can get a stick of Corsair 512 PC 3200 and it will be compatible? What is the best stick for gaming? I only want to add the 512.

Well, Corsair is the most expensive, so I assume it's the best. :p

And yeah, it's just the type of memory that it is that matters, not who makes it, when determining compatability.

Nice. I'll start looking some up on newegg tomorrow. Can't wait to get my shiney new RAM in the mail. Also, is low-latency better for gaming? Damn, RAM is the only hardware I don't understand. What's with all this 2-2-2-5 stuff?

The tighter the timings, the better performance.

However, I wouldn't worry about getting RAM with low timings, as I doubt your HP RAM is super top of the line. I'd go with something reasonable, neither too cheap nor too expensive.

Is there any way I can figure out how my current RAM is timed?

There's a program, IIRC, but I don't have a link to it. I'm sure Asus could provide a link, if he pops his head in here.

Thanks a lot guys. So if I have the correct numbers, my RAM is timed at 3-3-3-8, so If I get something of faster clocking, it won't matter? I'm also not sure if my mobo supports dual channel, but I can tell you that it is ASUS.

Don't listen, he's just trying to make his e-penis grow.

I'm pretty sure the timings will adjust to the slower speed, just as RAM speeds do. I could be wrong, as I have no actual experience with that, but eh. I'd really suggest just spending a reasonable amount, and don't aim for really expensive RAM, get something with similar timings.
