According to the Mail On Sunday in the UK a corpse of the decapitated animal was the centrepiece of a party to celebrate the launch of the God Of War II game for the company's PlayStation 2 console. Guests at the event were even invited to reach inside the goat's still-warm carcass to eat offal from its stomach.

Dear lord. What were they thinking?

Waiting for a more reputable source...

It was in The Mail this morning as well. It's not the kind of newspaper that would print stories that aren't true.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

No way they just...no way. Where is PETA because this is the grossest thing I have ever seen in my entire life at a "party". I'm......yeah I'm at a loss of words on this one. :frown:

PETA kill animals too don't bring them into this. Besides they bought the animal, dead. Millions of animals are slaughtered all the time we east them for Christs sake. Sheesh.

Next I'll be criticized for shooting an animal that was hit by some wanker in a 4WD.

Shit yeah! I'll probably cop flak for this, but personally I think this is awesome.

LMFAO!!!!

Thats great, im sry but thats awesome! btw that chick is naked.

Thank you. Glad someone else noticed that.

Anyway, I don't know if I personally like it, but I see nothing wrong with it. I mean, it makes sense, an animal sacrifice and all.

Seriously, why are people so angry out about this.

I'm not angry, I think eating offal straight from the stomach of a decapitated goat is pretty extreme, if a little crazy. But Sony must have realised all the outrage this would get from animal charities etc., and it's not giving the videogame industry such a great name.

It's just ****in weird dude. Bizarre.

Mom, thanks for the Playstation Magazine subscription, now I can yank one off to a womans exposed breasts while they all bathed in a beheaded animals blood, guts, and entrails.

Can I have a Playstation for Christs birthday?

Well it is for God of War 2...so it all fits with such an adult game. But yeah, they picked a bad picture to include in the magazine. How is body painting not considered nudity anyway?!?

I'm not saying I like it, but it's nothing worth writing home about. I'm sure the idea was to be tongue-in-cheek and a bit shocking.

Anyway, it just seems picking on Sony is the "in" thing to do. I'm personally much more shocked at something like Bart Simpson flashing his genitals in the upcoming movie just cause I don't expect that from the Simpson's. I do expect boobies and gore from GoW.

You guys don’t understand, we are talking about SONY here, we have to criticize them for the sake of it!

I wonder if whoever is in charge 'sacrificed' some employee's jobs for that stunt, like they sacrificed that animal.

It's surprising that Sony claimed any responsibility, I mean, they didn't even make the game did they? Did they even publish it? They must be trying to make an image for themselves.

I won't be surprised if someone else is forced to resign after this blows over, assuming this really happened.

I'm not sure if some of you realize how much impact some of these animal rights, anti-violence, and anti-video game supporters have. This could actually have serious repercussions. Or, nothing will happen. We'll just have to find out later.

Personally, I don't care, but if new laws are passed banning violent games, or some other stupid problem arises that negatively affects me, well, I don't think I could like Sony any less as it is, but, it's possible.

This doesn't really have to do with the topic, but while we are talking about Sony, I was shopping last night, I saw 2 more broken PS3's.

I'll be damned if I would pay $600 for one of these, even If I really wanted one. I've only seen about 3 out of 20 PS3's working in all the various electronics stores I've seen the demo units. No lie! What a peice of shit. It's just unbelievable to me. I've never seen a non-working nintendo (going all the way back to the 8-bit demo units), and only on a couple occassions seen a non working Xbox or Xbox 360.

Maybe they should have spent that party money and get some refurbished PS3's in the store, instead of sniffing coke off a groupies' tits and giving eachother reach-arounds, if they really want to change their image. =P

And to think, I actually used to dislike Sony. I'm going to ****ing buy a PS3 and Sony HDTV just because that's so damn awesome.

You don't read news papers do you?

Of course I read newspapers... You know what I mean. A story like that in The Mail isn't likely to have just been made up for a laugh.

So this surfaced this morning? I don't think it's a coincidence that this news surfaced on the day the Xbox 360 Elite came out. The console that stole all of Sony's thunder - more thunder than a God of War himself. They aim to steal the game news highlights from the Elite.

Ooo I'm good.

Does that mean that I can celebrate my CRPG that has you being an German officer at Auschwitz during 1941 by starving and gassing a jewish boy then hanging him in the room where the celebration is held? I mean, it fits with it, even if it isn't quite right.:upstare::LOL:

I read it in the Mail today (I didn't buy it, before you start rolling your eyes/booing/tagging my posts with lol), and it is a little too far. Though the Mails article was an absolute joke; making a bunch of wild accusations, nonsense jibber jabber about how God of war is horribly violent and should be banned and that games have already been linked with however many murders. Laughable. Jangle don't be taken in by what this crock of shit paper writes on a daily basis.

Are any of you genuinely upset about them taking the body of an already dead goat and using it for promotional purposes, or are you just feigning anger because it's popular to hate Sony? Because if this truly offends you then you need to grow a pair.

It's fairly appropriate and I guess it goes far enough to convey the grotesque and barbaric nature of the game. If I was at the party I'd be fairly amused. Either way, not a huge deal.

It's fairly appropriate

Well then shit, if more companys start doing this (see Gargantou's example) to promote their games then the next gamer to complain about Jack Thompson saying his opinion on the matter needs to be kicked in the face.

Oh wait, opinions don't go down to well for some people here...

....This goes too far.

.....

Who would eat goat -censored- ?

Are they stupid?
Thats like making a new GTA and going out on a killing spree!

....:)

Its pretty awesome, but also pretty ****ing stupid :|

"Alright guys were gonna have a dead goat here, like a sacrifice you know? Cus its god of war! Trust me, there is no way anyone would find this offensive. LET THE FEAST BEGIN. WOOO"
