Sony may win next-gen war

Was there any debate whether the GoW footage was pre-rendered? I guess I missed that.

I'm just worried that the 360 might turn into another Dreamcast. I mean, it's releasing ahead of everyone else, it's hardware isn't as powerful as Sony's, and... it's white for god sakes. And it has a big circular logo...
If any of the consoles are going to die it's the Revolution. It's been confirmed by Nintendo it's only 2-3 times more powerful than the GameCube(the X360 is 15 times more powerful than the XBox) therefor is the least powerful console by a signifigent margin. And Nintendo doesn't have a fat wallet to draw from.

I think that we will find that with this next generation of consoles things will be largely the same as with this current generation. That is to say, people who have a PS2 will buy a PS3, people who have an Xbox will get a 360, and hardcore gamers who have a PS2 and an Xbox will get a PS3 and a 360. People are more comfortable buying what they know. Everyone has gotten to know a certain brand and will by-and-large stick with it, if for no other reason than their own familiarity with it. Most people are afraid of change--this generation should once again prove that.

No need for it. We've known about UE3 and what it can do for over a year. It stands to reason that if they could show it running on a top-of-the-line PC last year, a next-gen console being displayed this year could handle it.

The way the Killzone devs are dancing around questions with wordy answers gives even more reason to be suspicious of the video's legitimacy. Well, it doesn't arouse suspicion in me. I'm quite certain now that the video was fake.

I love where the IGN editors leave their comments. Every one of them said that the video was fake.

Is the Killzone sequence a fair example of what people can expect from realtime gameplay on PlayStation 3?

Jan-Bart: Yeah, it's basically a representation of the look and feel of the game we're trying to make.

There ya go, pre-rendered.

And apparently grammar too.

Am I the only one who finds this very funny?

A pair of Apple Powermac G5 systems were actually running the Xbox 360 demos, not the 360 console. The consoles in the kiosks weren't actually running, they were just for show - now you know why all the controllers were wired.

How long ago did work start on the sequence?

Jan-Bart: We started working on it in late November, and only finished it three days before the show, at the very, very last moment!

I think this prove it is prerendered

but I hear another companies make it isnt?

Yes but if it wasnt for his article, you would never have posted your inane BS post. Goddamit I wasted 2 seconds of my life reading your crap. I can never get those 2 seconds back and its all your dammed fault. If I were half the man I was 5 years ago i'd introduce you to the business end of my shoe whilst wearing a Cary Grant-esque perpetual scowl on my face. Damm im such a badass.

323, 456 losers thought the article was a fanboy bit of console-bashing.
Yeah, making threats over the internet - you really are a badass

Although with you, it's quite hard to tell whether you're being serious or not... I seriously hope it's the latter.

Actually, I found it interesting.

It could mean that game devs can finally make more games for the mac and I can finally switch!

(Only reason why I stick with a pc is because I'm a big fps person and there isn't many fps games like hl2 for the mac.)

People also don't realize though that Sony and Microsoft are stretching the truth about their new systems power. 30 times more powerful sure as hell isn't going to mean 30 times better looking on the screen. I am pretty sure Nintendo means that the power in its new system will make it look 2-3 times better on the screen which is what the 360 and PS3 are also looking like. In that case it is up to par.

Considering its size, I highly doubt that at all. Nintendo must have pulled some kind of technological miracle to produce something in comparison with the X360 and PS3.

Well, Nintendo are based in Japan so i can see that happening.

Oh I don't know. I have no doubt it will have games looking 2-3 times better than whats on the gamecube right now. I mean the gamecube certainly has games looking 2-3 times better than what was on the N64 right? Plus when you look at them the games on the 360 and what will probably be a final result on the PS3 I also only see them looking 2-3 times better than what they have now.

I severely doubt there will be many games taking full advantage of either the 360 or PS3 hardware. Most games will probably look as good as your top of the line PC games once the consoles are all finally out and not much better.

After all the PS2 was weak when compared to the X-box and Gamecube yet look at how succesful it was.

how can you accurately quantify by what degree one generation of games looks better than the last?

you can't - so stop trying.

Alright then how about I say that the difference in graphics between the N64 and the Gamecube will be about the same as the difference between the Gamecube and the Revolution? The difference between the graphics of the X-box and the 360 will be about the same as the difference between the N64 and the Gamecube.

You always hear people say stuff like "This game looks twice as good as this game", that doesn't mean any technical information has to be used at all, its all in the mind. Yet most people will usually agree that game A looks twice as good as game B.

Either way all I am trying to say is that I am pretty sure the Revolution will be up to par with the 360 and PS3 in the graphics department.
