I like the simpsons over southpark, just because it's funnier and the humor is more mature. No terrance and philip crap.

Family Guy was always good, Futurama as well :(.

Simpsons is probably more consistently funny, but when Southpark is on it is on. I've been a huge Simpsons fan for years but I've still never laughed as hard at it as a good Southpark episode.
On a side note I'm skeptical some people here have even seen Southpark. It's my parent's favorite show and movie ever. I'm pretty sure they're past puberty by now. :D

Family Guy is a rip-off!
Has anyone seen the episode of the Simpsons (Halloween) where Homer clones himself? There's a scene where you see all these Homers standing on a big field, and as they pan through the huge pile of Homers you see the father from Family Guy standing there too! Matt Groening thinks that Family Guy is a pure rip-off and therefore he placed Hank (is that his name) there! HA! GREAT!

If Family Guy is a rip-off of the Simpsons, then The Simpsons is a rip-off of the Flintstones. Besides other then the fact that the Family has 3 kids and a goofy father, they have nothing in common. Its WAY funnier then the simpsons has been in years, or possibly ever IMO.

Heck Futurama is way funnier then the Simpsons. Dr Zoidberg rocks

South Park- More then just a silly cartoon, and it is still funny.
Simpsons- Just a silly cartoon that has been going downhill for about 5 years now.

Cripple fight !

rofl.,

Jimmy!

Lmao

Butters!

Anime piss take episode , :D

Only seen season 1 eh? Because then you would be right.
It has become a lot more intelligent since then. They're always trying to convey a message, maybe kids overlook this and just see the piss and poop jokes, but there's more to it than meets the eye.

And Simpsons is funny (although it's getting less), but way too 'friendly' as opposed to Southpark, they don't make harsh sarcastic parodies of politics/american society, they only make episodes where Homer does something stupid... again.

no contest: the simpsons

south park not even in the same league

thats funny,,, there must be contest, because at the present, I think its the other way round :P

Definetly the simpsons!!!!!!!!!!
the humour is so good
even the adultb humour is not too offensive to kids but can still be dark!!
pure class!
they should prescribe watching the simpsons to depressed people!!!
Homer is so funny
and mr burns. what a boss!!!

ya but that's only because you're crazy ;)

Simpsons, it just has so many more classic/memorable moments. I agree though, it's gone down the shitter since season... what, 7? I lost count.

South Park is different, kinda silly comparing the two, but I really like it too. It's all farts and puke but it's so classy. I can watch the newest episodes and it's still fresh to an extent (has it's off moments).

Family Guy is just class, from start to finish :)

Still, it's a complete rip of Simpsons, and not quite so memorable. Simpsons pwns.

Edit -

what you got against Burnzie? :E

Teller: Uh huh, and what's your last name?

Homer: I don't know.

series 8 of southpark is sik
but is that a gud thing??
simpsons still rules

The Simpsons for me.

South Park is great - but its appeal lessens the older I get (i'm becoming an old fart /o\) The Simpsons always makes me smile tho :)

the Simpson is a classic. South Park roxs, but it's not a landmark.

Futurama was the best show ever, they shoudl get it back....

Like that episode Bender sells his body to Nixon, the nBender gets his body back and Nixon gets a HUGE robot body and wipes out the White House saying "I'm back!!!!" OMG, I rofl with that one.

or the anchovies ep., where Fry buys the last known can of anchovies and Dr. Zoidberg is asked why was it that anchovies where extinguished shotrly after his species came to EArth, and he's like "dunno..." and then when he sees the anchovies, he goes NUTS!

and good ol' suicide booths from the 1st ep....

it was the best show ever.....

Hank: Uh, Homer, one second. I gotta take care of this. Very important.
Be right back.
Homer: Fine.
[Hank's map of the world reveals a giant viewscreen, on which
appears the UN staff]
Hank: Good afternoon, gentlemen. This is Scorpio. I have the Doomsday
Device. You have 72 hours to deliver the gold or you'll face the
consequences. And to prove I'm not bluffing, watch this.
[activates a remote]
[an explosion occurs near the UN building]
Man 1: Oh, my God, the 59th Street bridge!
Man 2: Maybe it just collapsed on its own.
Man 1: We can't take that chance.
Man 2: You always say that. I want to take a chance.
Hank: Collapsed on its own? You, sh... You have 72 hours. See ya.
[to Homer] Back to the hammocks, my friend. You know, there's a
little place called Mary Ann's Hammocks. The nice thing about
that place is Mary Ann gets in the hammock with you. [laughs]
I'm just kidding.
Homer: Oh.
Hank: You know who invented the hammock, Homer?
Homer: No.
Hank: That's something for you to do. Find that out.

Nuff said

"Its my family Hank. They want to go back to Springfield."
"Fine. Stay here with me, we'll go bowling."
*Battle rages in background*

simpsons, hands down.
the humor is hilarious without having to stoop to basing it on farts/shit/piss, cusswords and drugs.
and honestly thats all that south park is.. doesnt mean its gay jokes, farts swearing and pokes at everything one would expect it to poke at arent funny... just nowhere as good as the simpsons (or Futurama for that matter)

South Park appeals to the less mature/younger crowd, as that is the basis of it's humor.

also The simpsons Halloween specials are classic.
I think I have seen like every simpsons episode, it was like THE only good show we got on our two channel M-net decoder in south africa (and watched all of them again here in the US)

Homer: "Oh vengeful lord tell me who to smite and they shall be smoten"
Marge: "homer thats not God, its an old pancake Bart threw up there"
-Marge knocks the pancake down off the roof with her broom, it lands in Homer's Hands"
Homer: "Oh lord I know I should not partake of thee..."
*chomps down*
Homer: "hmmmmm sacrilicious"

heh, "If its brown Drink it down, if its black, send it back!"

Well, here in Sweden, we are only on season 5 of the Simpsons, and those episodes are great. But I've seen some from season 11 or 12, and those are not as good, but good enough.

is it in english? I've seen the simpsons in spanish and it's nothing like the original...all the voices are so screwed up..almost as if it's one person doing all the voices. Plus there are so many in-jokes around north american culture and politics that I'm sure they wouldnt make to much sense in another language

I think the Simpsons are way overrated so I voted for South Park. I'd rather watch Family Guy though.

i like the simpsons, although they should stop making the wacky "new" episodes that involve ridiculous, non- funny settings (like a majical hobo on a train). More and more of the episodes are now having ****ed up endings just because the writers cant be bothered to think up decent stories.

i would love it if they made new episodes that were actually down to earth, like the "middle episodes" (not old enough to make you cringe at the quality, yet not new enough to blind you with the bright yellow). the "middle" episodes had all the decent settings, that were actually realistic and belivable, which means it is the jokes that are funny and not the fact that the episode ended in all the characters screaming "surfs up!!" and going surfing because the writers met a dead end... it may be funny for the first time, but the amount of times episodes are repeated...

it is a very hard choice though, because some of the new south park episodes are BLOODY funny. if you ever want to download any episodes, get "good times with weapons". best. episode. ever.

i still choos the simpsons though, but i choose the old simpsons and not the new shit.

I'd agree that Simpson have hit a slump, but its hardly the first time. Like any series that runs this long its quality raises and lowers as people move in and out.

the simpsons was at it's peak when conan o'brian was one of the writers

I think everyone is underestimating South Park, it is an incredibly political show that questions morals, etc in every single episode. There is way more to it then just poop and puke, it also has the balls to say what they want and make fun of who they want.

yes, but most of it is just swearing and puke

The Simpsons.

But I like Futurama best.

Hehe, thinking about "Ben Asslick". Hahaha! :D

Its interesting that people view south park as "puke" and "farts" when actually there is a lot of subtle humour in it, as well as plays on cliches etc.

There is a little black kid called Token...:D

And he is the only black kid in the whole town.

Voted for Simpsons, but South Park aint bad either, Btw why isnt Futurama here?

i have the last two series on DVD box set... and soon i will have them all!!! bwahahhaha... bwahhahah...BWAWHAHAHAH!

btw each box set is £15 on amazon.co.uk, which means you can get every futurama episode EVER (thats about 80) for £60. owned.

Even though there both original and "The Simpsons" is getting tiresome since the story-lines are too extreme and I virtually know the dialogue off by-heart, since I've seen each episode several times. "South Park" I love even though some episodes aren't humourous. In the end, i have to go for "The Simpsons" mainly due to the fact its a classic and has been on television from the start of my child hood and may it carry on for many years. Hope it doesn't end anytime soon. Its only the few programs that are actually hilarous and worth watching, I'm considering buying the series on DVD mainly due to old time sakes.

i would love to buy the simpsons on DVD, but so far they only have 3 seasons on DVD and each is £30... im not getting the old, crappy episodes for that price.. and im not waiting for the decent ones either, as i would want a whole set and that would cost me £300...

WHAT?! The old ones are the best, I already own season 1. I might get 2 more but they start to get really sucky in the later seasons.

From "Lisa On Ice," probably the funniest episode. :)

Bart: OK, but on my way, I'm going to be doing this: [windmills arms]
If you get hit, it's your own fault.
Lisa: OK, then I'm going to start kicking air like this. [kicks] And
if any part of you should fill that air, [kicks] it's _your_ own
fault.
[they walk towards each other, then start fighting]
Marge: Oh, I better go check that out. Now Homer, don't you eat this
pie!
Homer: OK...[Marge leaves] All right, pie, I'm just going to do this.
[chomps air] And if you get eaten, it's your own fault!
[walks towards pie, chomping air, and hits head on range head]
Ow! Oh, my -- aw, to hell with this. [grabs pie, eats it]

Marge: Stop it, stop it, stop it! [flicks light on and off]
Bart: Mom, that is _really_ annoying.
Lisa: Bart started it.
Bart: Uh uh, Lisa started it.
Marge: I don't care _who_ started it. I don't ever want to see you two
fighting like that ever again. We love you both: you're _not_ in
competition with each other. Repeat: you are not in competition
with each other.
Homer: Hey! Apu just called. This Friday, Lisa's team is playing
Bart's team. You're in direct competition. And don't go easy on
each other just because you're brother and sister. I want to see
you both fighting for your parents' love!
[flicks light on and off]
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!...

Yah. Conan O'brien wrote the Monorail episode. One of my favorites.
