Spicy Food Tolerance

Open sphincter + peppers = a big mess. This intolerance might be a good thing. Don't explore it further.

I used to be alright, then our family for some reasons just stopped making curries/spicy meals for dinner. These days I'm alright, but a hot curry at a good curry place is often too much for me.

A superior chilli sauce.

I want to try an authentic curry. :(

I hear people rave about them so much... but never had some. All I have is a little spice thing of curry powder.

Don't even think I've ever had an inauthentic curry.

Not all curries are super spicy. Yellow curries are usually mild, sweet even. Chicken Korma should be a good starting point.

You said it brother!

I just wanted to try them because I heard they taste so good. Granted I know curry is just a generic term, but that's all I hear people speak about them... just the word curry. I don't know any specific dish names.

I like yellow curry a lot. It has coconut milk in it so it's pretty sweet. Just go to a Thai restaurant and they should have it.

Oh man, that giant picture of the Sriracha bottle was almost like porn! I instinctively looked over my shoulder at work before scrolling through it.

I have loved crazy spicy since as long as I can remember. I have eaten Habañero peppers for sport. I think my tolerance has gone down lately though, almost as if my digestive system was the first part of me to "age." These days habañero sauce, on exit, burns burns burns, a ring of fire.

That's about as spicy as it gets there, ladies and gentlemen.

One thing I was always told since I was a child was that eating spicy foods damages (or desensitizes) your taste buds. (albeit slightly) Maybe that explains an increased tolerance over time.

I'm trying to find out now, so far it seems that isn't even true. It's probably just an old wives tale. I never really paid any attention to it anyway.

Not an old wives tale afaik. Friends of my parents are wine importers and they always refrain from spicy food. The effect is temporary though iirc.

For my age(14) I have a pretty good tolerance to spicy foods. Not many can eat a vindaloo without milk. Having said that I have chili sauce on EVERYTHING. Burgers, chips, even fish. Its best to split the fish in the middle and make like a canyon and smear chili sauce down the sides.

Want to make regular spicy shit even spicier? Heat the **** out of it.

I think people who like spicy foods are idiots.

HURR IMA TAKE SUM GUD FOOD AND MAKE IT SO HAT IT BURNS MAH MAOUF SO I CANT TASTE NO MOURE.

The ingredients that make it spicy add all sorts of flavor that wouldn't otherwise be there.

i hate spicy food. i like it to the point that it adds that tiny little sweet and sour zest to it but once it starts getting piping hot and shit i hate it. too overpowering and kills the taste of what i'm eating.

It's also really healthy and in many people causes a release of endorphins afterwards. Wow what kind of idiots would like food like that?!

I'd love to go to the west one day and try whatever's considered "hot".

IM COMING BELL-A-ROSE AND CHASE.

Man, it's amazing to learn that Chili Peppers originated in the Americas and weren't even part of cuisine in Europe and Asia before they were brought from the new world. And now so many in Europe and Asia have them as integral parts of their cuisine.

): I'm from Ireland, what do you expect?

I expect you to be familiar with hot potato!

But then again... I guess that doesn't refer to spicyness. BUT IT COULD!

It's good eatin bi7ch. Looks almost like some Indian food I have but I normally don't add whole peppers.

looks like somebody ate the potatos. was sick in a bowl then threw in some caterpillars.

It was just something I found that said spicy potatoes.

The image said it was a potato curry.

Ah so that's what you ****in whities keep calling curry. It's ****in Shaak in my language.

Is it me or does anyone else not find indian food spicy?
Spicy as in like chilli, not ooh lotsa spice.

There's probably only one Indian dish I've had that really was "****in spicy." For the rest I force them to be ****in spicy by having some hot ass peppers on the side. The default spicyness of Indian food is negligable, or 'chilli'-like as Azy put it. (I guess that shit's supposed to be mild or something)

Yup, Sri Lankan curries are far hotter than Indian.

Indian curries arent even hot/spicy tbh.
SINHALESE CURRY?! Haha, I'd try that one day.

Would anyone care to share what country would probably have the spiciest(Hottest) delicacies?

Anything made with Naga Jolokia peppers.

One seed from a Naga Jolokia can produce sustained intense pain sensations in the mouth for up to 30 minutes before subsiding.

1 million scoville units.

Anything hotter would have to be made from extracts of capsaicin or pure capsaicin.

Indian curry isn't spicy, it just has a little bit of spicy flavor, but very low on the scoville scale. You can make it spicy though...

I had some delicious mexican food last night doused in hot salsa, mmmmmm

My dad bought some jalapenos peppers for me today and I took a big juicy bite out of the top end of half of one. Tons of seeds, all the vein.

Intense. It'll take a good while yet before I get over that level of intensity. I hope some day soon to be able to snack on them just like bell peppers, bit of warmth but nothing that sends me running for milk.

I love Jalaps. They're tasty.

The Scoville Scale. As you can see, the hottest pepper known to mankind is the Naga Jolokia pepper. I could probably only withstand up to Tabasco sauce.

I would say 10,000 is about where I start crying and sweating profusely.

Curries from Sri Lanka and some Thai and Lao dishes have the power to kill your taste buds. In a good way.
