Spore!

I'm looking forward to SPORE here in Canada, but I've got a larger problem at hand. I've registered for a Spore Account, but not once have I been able to log in via the Creature Creator. It gives me an error simply saying that it failed to login whenever I try :(

Anyone else get this problem, and know any fixes? I've checked many other sites but cant find a decent answer.

Is it just me or is everything up until space just easier if you're rambo and kill everyone? Impressing creatures? Bah be impressed as my creatures ram a horn through your skull. Tribes? Wait for another tribe to send a few units over kill them, heal, rape other tribes now weakened town. Civ? More spammage and then fire the missiles. Seemed like too much of a chore to go about it the other way.

I thought it was actually easier to impress them.
Just constantly keep a flow of food coming in and then just keep some stone axe men/spear men at your tribe's HQ.(about 2 of each does the trick)... and then just assign 2 of each instrument and you're set.
Building up a formidable army in the tribal stage was too troublesome for me because you have to fend off wild animals and tribes that haven't allied themselves to you yet from stealing your goods.
Creature stage was easier to just kill everyone for me though, instead of having to dance and charm and all that I just kept evolving my creature to be as badass as possible. :D

Civ stage was fun too but again, basically a simplified large scale RTS... I just made a bunch of aircraft to protect my cities, ships to protect the ports, and land units scattered through the map.
Cities getting attacked by several factions at once is so epic, just watching the city crumble as every building is destroyed.

I Am enjoying it immensely. Bashing a game just because it was published by EA, is getting very old if you ask me. The game is a bit cutesy and Sim-ish but a lot of fun.

But that's just it building an army is easy. As I said wait for another town to attack you or attack them and take down a few of their guys, heal up and then crush them. Don't even bother about food or defense unless you're heavily under attack. Food being stolen was never an issue for me.

One thing that I actually really hated about Civ stage was the insta-building. :|
Nothing had to be constructed or anything, you just click and poof it's there and buildings were basically clicked and dragged and made instantly.
If things actually took a few seconds to build, that stage might've been a lot more challenging.

Also, the final uber weapon is ...so cheap. It's basically an instant win.

Having problems too logging into my account, anyone else?

The game isn't officially out atm, so I don't think they have the account server up and running just yet.
Also, if anyone says that the game is too short... gtfo.

I played it nonstop yesterday starting at 9 in the morning and I just got to the space stage at midnight, damn good length imo... and now the space stage itself is going to take a good while to beat I'm sure... then afterwards, start over with new creatures/buildings/vehicles. :D I love the editor so much.

True...damn that GAME sending it out early but not making sure the servers are up :p

Just bought mah spore at GAME, installing now! Hope it's worth all the wait.

I'm royally pissed because EA are having a lot of problems when it comes to logging in, servers etc..

I've tried to login using three different EA accounts(two I registered now) each and every time it gives me "Invalid Login".. It's BS..

You can't login offline so if you create creatures without being logged in then you can't prove that you originally made them.

Space stage is damn fun.
Except for your allies, they're so annoying.
Seriously, they all have armies so what do they need my single UFO for?!

They constantly nag you for the stupidest things.(kill 5 diseased creatures or our entire ecosystem will collapse!) They can't do that themselves? :frown:

Other than that, I usually ignore them and they don't mind much.

You ain't got login issues xlucidx? You sonnowabitch!:(

Just don't try logging in. ;)

You can play without logging in you silly geese.

Wow, what have we been saying?

F*CK THE REVIEWS.

The game is undeniably awesome, get it.
Ignore the reviewers.

Any of you guys know were the saved games are? I installed spore on my laptop and now I wanted to try it on the big machine, but have no patience to start a new game right now

I did some searching but couldn't find it. Must be hidden pretty well.

GAME is always reliable, every pre-order I get comes a day early, even with the free, royalmail delivery ;)

BTW, I'm already a space-faring nation, but the game crashed (first time!), so I had to start midway of the Civ stage because a lack of autosave

I'd like to know who's the genius is who decided the game didn't need autosaves.

Man that sucks. Luckily I'm the kind of person that saves even when I do something minor. Just paranoid I guess :cheese:

What the reviews seem to be missing is that going from the cell to the civ fase is the tutorial for the game proper, i.e. space exploration.

And agreed: it's awesome, get it.

So wait. In space stage do you lose control of your civalization, and just use the space ship (I know you still grow your empire, but can you attack enemies with armies?).

In the space stage your home base is the planet and civilization you have built up. You still have control over it.

You can attack or form alliances with other armies. I'm not sure if you can build up a fleet and attack or not, haven't really made it too far.

there is a much higher chance of you getting caught.

Yeah, so? I've still got it preordered. :|

It doesn't matter if you've got it pre-ordered. They don't get you for downloading anything, they get you for uploading it, which is mostly impossible to avoid using torrents, since people can leech from you while you're still downloading. No matter how many copies you buy, you do not have the legal right to distribute the game. Find a private tracker before you start getting nastygrams from your ISP.

Good thing I never seed and I always keep my upload rate at zero, unless it's on private sites... not like they'd get much speed from me anyways.

Anyways, in the space stage you can recruit other ships to help you in your quest for dominance... I've got 2 following me right now.
And you can colonize other planets and start ecosystems but I haven't exactly figured out how that system works just yet.
It's just so fun exploring and finding goodies on planets and trading and stuff.

As far as I know, simply being able to connect to you is enough.

I can't wait to get to Space! Argh!

All of the tools sound completely awesome. I think I might post a list I found for the benefit of you guys. *starts searching*

I have two colonies, one of which has a self-sustaining eco-system, I only have to boost atmosphere one last time to put it at T3, and then plant more trees

Green Spice is much fun to trade

10,000 x 4 > 50,000 x 4

Honestly, this game is a let down. I had fun from the cell stage to tribal, but the civ stage was really bland, and the space stage is really repetitive. Having to keep saving/defend your planets is really frustrating, and the quests are basically the same "go here and [verb] this [noun]" monotony. It's a case where jack of all trades, master of none applies

And that's why you aren't supposed to go about killing everyone. If you're friendly the whole time, you won't have that problem.

I agree partially with you Sedako but I still think it's a very good basis to work from and the game can go from being a flawed gem to a masterpiece with a few patches and expansions.

Well, bought this...support PC exclusives and all that, and I know all about the protection system that, like the Creature Creator before it, allows you to install on 3 different PC's.

So I activated one install on my PC no trouble, then went to install it on the wives PC, installed fine, put her e-mail and password in, and it denies her her on-line content.
All this is exactly same thing I did with CC which allows the same limitations on installs etc except that worked.

Looking on the UK spore forums, seems like it is a server breakdown at EA, as alot of users, who have yet to even activate on one machine, are getting this trouble, and all EA say is they are working on it.
I should ****ing hope so, seeing as how I could be ?35 better off and run it with off-line content anyway with the pirate version I got 2 days ago.

Anyone else having these kind of problems?

Huge let down from what i hear. Seems like all the good in this game is the editor.

I used to think the only part of the game was creating little aliens and watching them run around. Seems like there's a crapload more where that came from.

The space exploration part, expecially the creature stuff and terraforming stuff, reminds me of an old starwars game about gungans planting creatures and shit on Naboo. That game was damn fun.

Playing the creature stage feels like playing an MMO. Except on your own.

I'm grinding in a single-player game. >.< Not good not good not good not good

That's okay, just ignore what everyone's saying in the thread. :p

Also, Nibwoddle, I've established alliances and trade routes up the ass and yet we still keep getting attacked by hostile races.
It's especially frustrating when you try to ally with one of the hostile races and they agree... yet 5 minutes later they're seen attacking one of your planets! D:

Also, can anyone explain how putting a stable atmosphere/ecosystem works? It's a little too confusing for me and I can't really find anything in the game that explains it better.

And that's why you aren't supposed to go about killing everyone. If you're friendly the whole time, you won't have that problem.

Sometimes the game just gives you a lot of enemies. I was allying with everybody I could in space, and I still ended up with 3 nearby hostile races that would constantly attack me.

The game was pretty much exactly what I thought it would be:

Fun to go through once and play with the editor, but too shallow to warrant another playthrough.

It's just not my style. I'm sure the rest of you will have fun with the editors, but I need multiplayer of some kind to properly share and show off my creations. Knowing that my creations are part of the massive Sporepedia and that they MIGHT be seen in other peoples' games isn't good enough.

Im still getting the game, im the last person to believe or rely on reviews. Im just saying...

Yeah, I know.
I'm somewhat disappointed with the game too... but not to the point of completely hating it.

I'm one of those people who was REALLY looking forward to playing with the editor so it has TONS of replayability for me.
