That squirrel's lucky they didn't just blow it into tiny pieces, which is what some people would do. I also doubt the thing was even hurt seeing as how I've seen them take so real dives and not even blink.
 
ummm doods, squirrels fall from trees all the time. I mean fall over 20ft out of a tree all the time.

I don't find it at all funny. I live in an area with lots of squirrels and they do fall, but they don't get launched up into the air.

Even if it isn't injured thats just stupid.
 
Lighten the **** up I thought it was funny. That'll teach those god damn squirrels.

Is the misspelling intentional? It's always been "Squirrel" to me. Although my cousin couldn't pronounce it properly. She used to call them "Scroodles". Truth.

I like squirrels. One bit my other cousin's finger once.

That was horrible. It looked like the squirrel really got hurt. The g-force on the launch thing must be tremendous. You that laugh should be ashamed of yourselves.
 
umm... wow... how is that funny? don't mean to sound condescending, because i'm not being that way... but... i just don't see the humor(and i'm usually all over sick humor)
 
Hmmm...people laugh at other people getting hurt. But when a squirrel gets lauched 2 feet which doesn't hurt at all...you people start to go,"Wow! That's not funny man!"

I found it quite funny, besides the smaller an animal, the more relative punishment it can take. Anyway, squirrels can be quite a pest and these guys were probably just having fun. Im sure it was fine and probably didnt feel any pain.

I still dont get it, take Jackass for instance most people will laugh at them hitting a guy in the face when he isnt expecting it...but this is childish?

humans expect and deserve that kind of treatment, especially Jackass... thats why the title of the show is so aptly named. However Animals are animals, and that is cruelty... it's just plain wrong... like hitting a girl (which is a BIG deal to me.. I will not stand for anyone laying a hand on a lady when I am present)

then again some people just have a higher code of ethics and morals than others, as I said it comes with maturity, hurting something (even if it doesnt effect you) just because you think you can justify or rationalize it, doesnt mean you should.

people like the ones who did this video disgust me.

Different code of ethics would be a better term. Who says you are better than another person just because you happen to think this is wrong? Who determines what morals are right?

You assume your own personal code of conduct is the right way to do things. Im sure there are plenty of things you do which you consider perfectly ok, but others look down on it. You cant just outright insult these people.

How exactly do humans deserve that kind of treatment?

actually thats correct, I appologize, however I never stated My code of ethics/morals was better than anyone, I simply stated some people have a higher (I should have said Stricter) code than others, I also said it comes with maturity.. simply because as you get older the more you experience and then the more you can relate to.

your reference was to Jackass, in those instances (as in most with humans) we make the concious decision to be there/partake etc, Jackass slap eachother not random people on the street... They all know and expect to be treated like they are.
Animals do not have the level of intellegence we do, (well most of us).

I mean how low on the food chain do you have to be, to find humor in hurting defenseless things? *note: this video seemed real, and that is what I am refering to... really causing hurt, not play-hurt like the gerbil cannon** Thats like the bully at school picking on smaller kids, or kids throwing firecrackers at dogs, a grown man beating his wife.... same category.
do those people laugh at horrific accidents when they pass them on the road?

I dont know, being the person I am.. I just cant put up with stuff like that... if you can and you like to, good for you.... but not good enough for me.

I found this amusing, and perhaps its cruel but that doesnt change the fact that i think they should be allowed to do it. I dont see how the squirrel would have been hurt more than a bit shaken. I dont think the animal has the intelligence to realise whats going on...would have just treated it as if it had fallen out of a tree. And like i said, squirrels can be a real pest in some areas and something like this is better than shooting it. Even capturing it and releasing it somewhere else will cause it distress and it will likely not adapt to well to being move like that or it will just return to where it came from. Doing something like this will make the squirrel, for want of a better phrase, think twice about coming back.
 
In a lot of areas squirrels are a pest on the order of a mouse or a rat. They destroy stuff, bother domestic animals, and do a number on bird feeders. A mouse trap is twice as bad as what they did, and most people don't have a problem with those.
And I can understand how someone didn't think it was funny because its dumb...you just have to have a dumb sense of humor. :D

Im speaking of the general ideoligy, "hurting something defenseless", now you justify this video fairly well, and in some cases it may be true, HOWEVER my arguement is not over the guys in this video (and you know as much about it as I do, you assume the squirrel was shaken, you assume thats why they did it etc etc), I am refering to the human population by far and large.

and I tried to explain why people would perhaps take offence/disgust, being that the people in Jackass Choose to be there they know what they are in for (and get paid for it to boot). In this video two guys are simply shooting a squirrel from a launcher and laughing their asses off.

The fact remains their actions were as juevenile as a kid lighting a cracker and shoving it up a dogs ass when it craps on their lawn...
well it doesnt kill the animal, and the animal is too stupid to realize whats going on, but it wont come back.... great.
The severity is different in each scenario but the underlying idea is the same.

Im sure neither of us, got into this to discuss our beliefs/morals/ethics and idealogies, but it seems that you have shifted your discussion from "why do people not find this amusing?" to "Why shouldnt people be allowed to do it?"

People have free will, they can do as they please. I have explained how I feel in regards to your initial comment, so Im going to leave it at that. (also the whole point I was trying to convey, was it was cruel -in all instances-, not if it was humorous or not)

I like squirrels though.
Whenever I see a squirrel, I'm all like:
"Hey a squirrel! Everyone look! A squirrel! Squirrel, squirrel! Let's see what he does!"
And then everyone else is like:
"Shut up!"
It's the same situation with cats.

What have squirrels ever done to anyone, besides having a name that is spelt as counter-intuitively as possible?
They are friends, not foes!
