GSC Game World announces its plans to use next month's scaled-down E3 summit to unveil "several" follow-up games to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, their irradiated first-person shooter. No details on these projects are provided, all that's offered is a quote from GSC Game World's Sergiy Grygorovych: "We are very happy of the players' positive reaction to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. all over the world. This fills us with confidence the team is on the right track and adds us strength to go for next exciting accomplishments. It will be very soon that we present our new interesting ideas and solutions."

great to hear, I'm happy for their success as it means more open world fps goodness

Glad to see it was still financially succesful after 8 years or so of developing.

god stalker was a mess of a game which underneath it all had some great elements and lots of frustrating ones

hopefully they will learn from the postives of stalker to which there were quite a few and the negatives of stalker which for every positive there was a negative

I expect higher quality in the next iterations of whatever stalker based games they do...and hopefully it cud become a great brand

Project(s)? Oh, I guesss all the stuff they cut down from Stalker to release it will be in those "projects".

Yeah, not waiting for this. Stalker was a mess. Uncompleted, buggy mess.

are we all playing the same game? because not once have I crashed or experienced show stopping bugs

E3....when?

What I played of Stalker was fun, even though open-world FPS isn't my favourite. But I liked it....though, only played a few hours.

even if stalker have bugs and I cant beat since it crashes when loading certaing level

is one of the coolest fps in a long time

no more corridors fps for me now

and I am very glad they will make addons,I hope they made the enviroments much more open and explorations more rewarding

I will like to be something like a echologist collecting stuffs

Randomly when I click on "Save Game", the game QUITS rather than saving and my progression is lost. The game is simply NOT DONE by anyway. The after-release patches also show how incomplete the game is.
Tech wise, the game still needed more time. That alone lowers the score of the game for me.

Gameplay wise, the combat isn't good and the RPG elements are not well implented.
The story is a mess.

All in all i'm not a fan of open-world and non-linear gameplay just gor the sake of it. Stalker didn't implement these aspects in any above-avarge way. For me it's the classic 7\10 game.

every game released nowadays is considered a "buggy mess", especially if you ask anyone who has problems with it. I bought Stalker on the release day, and am still playing it. Its a damn good game, and I havent encountered any technical problems that the first patch hasnt fixed.

Looking forward to seeing where they take this.

I haven't played it yet (too much Uni work) but I'm sure to pick it up after Uni has finished.

i have the same thing as rjmc, game just crashes on me after loading the area, before i had no ctds and was loving it :| after my exams i'll prolly patch it and start over.

on the expansions, i would like to see some more from the universe. The story is bolox but the atmosphere of the zone is really special.

I dont want to patch it cuz

I am very far,and I dont want to loose all I have played!

Sounds great! I'll look forward to these other games when they finish making STALKER.

Shame that after that long, it was still very very, boiling point-buggyness

And stern, even with upto date drivers, rain had a random tendencies to look like razor-blades falling from the sky. You could only fix it by saving, exiting to windows, then loading it up.

Then there was that first ever trip from the bunker to the surface, which juddered like mad.

I liked the games concept from day 1, but I thought the game could of been made better.

heh you havent played boiling point ..that game was the buggiest game ever ..stalker was positively polished compared to boiling point

Clearly you haven't played Boiling Point(or tried playing it for that matter.)

I've been playing since Day 1 and I've only had one crash, but that was thanks to Norton popping up with a random virus check.

It's a solid game, the combat and the really long load times are my only real gripes with it.

I think e3 is either june or july

Apparently it's today D: , upto Friday.

edit: wait, my bad there are two dates..? the other is set for July 11 - 13th

Okay I was only joking about how buggy boiling point was. Yes I have played boiling point, I remember when the game was loading an area, my vehicle would shoot down a road at like 10,000mph. If it hit a hill, the car would fly up into the air (Thats only happened once to me though)

Its funny that people complained about disappearing cars, for me that was the most realistic simulation ever; Carjacking

E3: Media and Business Summit is in July 11-13

I couldn't care less, THQ forced a heavy simplification of STALKER at the expense of its truly open-ended nature, that's why several people(Including the original lead developers for STALKER) left the company to found their own and develop a game that is what STALKER-was-supposed-to-be, I'm far more excited to hear more about that game than about some shitty STALKER sequels cooked up to milk the name..

Any TRUE STALKER fan knows how heavily downgraded STALKER was in order to implement a story and make the game appeal more to the masses.

In all honesty, I couldn't care less if GSC ****ing DIED as a development company.

didnt you pirate Stalker? doesnt sound like something a "true" stalker fan would do

Whats the shoot-off company, I'm intrigued?

If this shoot-off company went Steam, then they shouldn't have much problem

heh the developers of Boiling point were an offshoot of former GSC employees ..so I wouldnt hold my breath

no, the ex-gsc guys he's talking about are working on a game called metro 2033

god I'm so tired of fighting monsters

Love STALKER. I've had two random crashes where it would just quit in an instant, but nothing else. The game has it's bugs, but they're not more than what other games have. The most annoying bug is with the save system. Sometimes when you load a save, all the enemies will suddenly run around and shoot at you, while you were sneaking around unnoticed when you saved it. But if you just save at rest points there's not significant bugs that I had.

I love the atmosphere. At the highest detail the graphics are a blast. The lighting is amazingly well done. I've never enjoyed good graphics as much as with stalker (thank you 8800gtx <3).

I'm very, very glad there's coming more. One of the best shooters I've played.

You know what I'm getting piss sick and tired of people coming to these forums and advocating pirating games or boasting of doing it. There are a few regular faces here (you know who you are) who positively gloat about pirating game software on a regular basis, even HL2 (and I'm not on about the leak either). Why these people's accounts aren't closed is a mystery (any Admin care to explain why this doesn't happen).

As for Stalker. Haven't finished it, but certainly enjoying it (although the interface blows tbh...multiple item move ffs..). It's more Oblivion with guns than a challenger to HL2, but the size and openness of the environments is a refreshing change. So far the patches seem to resolve issues without invalidating any saved games, so it should be safe to patch up if you haven't already.

1.0000 saves still can't be kept with patching. They redone something in the save system in patch 1.0001 so that later patches won't affect the savegames.

So patching 1.0000 to 1.0003 will still screw up the saves.

Probably because they're not linking anyone anywhere illegal. HL2.net doesn't condone illegal behavior, but I'm not going to get banned for saying "I killed my mom last night" or "LSD is AMAZING".

If you killed your mum last night you wouldn't be hanging around here much anymore anyway.

Pff, they've got the Interbutt in jails, I'll be fine.

It's a game fan site, why tolerate game thieves?

Why bring up Boiling Point? Everything compared to it is good.

Stalker has many bugs and incompleteness in it. It's a game that shouldn't have been put on the shelves at it's state. and i don't expect to spend 50$ for a game which is just not finished.

I didn't try to patch and try again to see if my crash occures again but i would bet it would be still there among alot others. I'm really not to compeled to go back to it. The gameplay and it's design isn't good\appealing enuogh. Atmosphere can only bring you some way.

I had my doubts with stalker before all it's dealays and in the end it's what i feard. Promising concept and overall a sub-par execution. I think the game was graded a little bit more for it's effort rather what it achieved.

I played it for a few hours and loved it, despite its flaws. I will continue once I get a good enough computer to run it at max settings.

The shooting mechanics were a bit off, but overall I liked STALKER, so I'll look forward to this one.
