Star Wars: Republic Commando Demo!

Hmmm, I go to that JAS Academy site to download the demo, but I cant find it. All it says is "The demo is here and looks and plays better than I expected" or something along those lines. :(

Where can I find a non-torrent link?? :(
 
Finshed downloading, runs really well, its nice to see a star wars game with lack of jedis (dont get me wrong.. I love them). Its nothing wonderfull, but its certainly not a bad game.
 
I have a good system, so it ran well, but I hope they increase the game's anti-aliasing. Lots of things had some jaggies.

Anyway, gameplay is fun, and the game itself is hard. You HAVE to listen to the people talking on your comms. Believe me.

Commanding the squad is fun. When not ordered to do something, like snipe from an area, attack a certain target, etc., your squadmates get a little dumb, but if you order an attack on a specific target, that target goes down FAST!

I like the game and will probably get it when it comes out.
 
The torrents aren't working. I can't find the freaking link on that stupid JASA site. I am not a happy camper.

The Game developers dont increase the anti-aliasing on the game, YOU increase the anti-aliasing on your video card settings.

Anyway, I'm having trouble downloading the Bit Torrent link, good thing it's a Saturday.
 
everyone seems to be completely split on this game
either it's AMAZING or it's MEDIOCRE and UNINTERESTING
guess ill have to see for myself
 
I think its really fun, and im a star wars games toughest critic. Its really well done. Boring? Hows it boring. Its more exciting than half life 2.

+ the gameplay

- hard
- ENEMY ai doesnt seem very intelligent
- Not enough reaction when you shoot people. Seems like it takes too many shots to kill somebody.
- seems a little bit clunky
 
Bugger it, my computer was turned off and now I get rejected by the tracker.
 
Eventually I'll be able to try out all these damn demos...

This game never really interested me, but I'll delay my judgement until I see something of it more than a CGI trailer and get the chance to actually play through some of its content.

It looks like Raven Shield in the SW universe, which doesn't appeal to me. RS annoyed me, because encapsulated missions and a lack of characters can't really maintain my interest.

ok I remembered the couple I reallllyy hate

The phantom menace, which would constantly rotate left.
Force commander which is boring as hell
jedi academy which ruins what was decent
shadows of the empire which was a good book but a horrendous game.

Thats just the games off the top of my head. The only SW games i've liked are battlefront, this, and the old xwing series. In all I hate what lucasarts has done to star wars. But believe what you want.
 
Pod racing was fun, not the deepest game ever, but it was a fun aracade game, Galaxies is good too, coming from someone whos been playing over a year.

I liked it, the Wookies seemed a bit big and pointless, AI was a little off but you team mates were pretty cool, I like the interface and pointing to an area for them to go to.

I loved it when blood when onto your screen and that little electric cleaner wiped it off. Nice touch.

It should be under the section: JASA Updates and there should be a date reading: 26/1/2005.
 
No idea why people like this game. Although I guess it's the same reason why games like CoD sell...

Yeah it sure was hard. Let the Torrent on over the night. The Wookies were really cool (most got killed though. I suck @ rescuing Wookies :E) But damn was it a cool game overall. But quite hard. Even on Medium... Got my ass handed to me on a number of occasions.
 
I need someone to tell me if it froze for anyone else? It keeps happening during the loading screen after the dropship scene. I really want to try this.

Nope not for me. The only real bugs I got were physics related & when some of my soldiers refused to obey my commands... I tried to make them heal themselves but as the idiot said... "No can do Sir!" retard.

This hud is much more than just a MP-ripoff. Very different health-meter, you can see the location of your troops & how good/bad their separate healths are too, you can use the arrowkeys when you're dead to give you troops commands (well you're never really dead), it has a thingie that cleans the visor if it gets dirty (very useful 'cause bloodstains do not come off that easily. Just look on one of your fellow soldier's helmet!), you use the visor to see where you can issue soldier commands & you can make your troops focus their fire on certain enemies. Metroid Prime's visors suck in comparison :p
 
this game is awesome, i torrented it over-night, i must say i am impressed, anyone else find it hard, i had it on medium and got killed with my squad like 4 times before i was done. once it was my fault i hit e to activate something and its mellee attack hapened, because i should of hit f, thus i blew myself up on one of those exsposive containers. My guy came to help me but was killed in the process.

zomg, i'm definently buying this.

besides running perfectly and having great graphics, it uses the tactical side well, not putting too much emphasis on it and it's just fun to play.

the level was a bit linear, but i'm sure that will change somewhat in the full version.

Oh yeah I know but he was down to red health. He wouldn't obey my Search & Destroy command either nor would he move to slice a door when I told him to.
 
I liked, barely. Graphically, it was nice, however it took way too many shots to kill someone, the tactical side is almost non-existent except for the few sniper spots. I will wait for Brothers In Arms for a tactical experience.

alrigt, played the demo finally
first impressions:
looks great and runs really well on highest settings @ his res
voice acting and other sounds effects were good too i thought
as far as the gameplay goes though, i thought it was far too scripted and was just missing some element to make it really action packed and exciting
on the plus side, the squad tactics and revival ability are pretty cool
ill probably still give the full version a chance despite all its obvious shortcomings
