Star Wars: The Old Republic - TimeLine Trailers

almost forgot about KotoR I/II probably because I see it as being part of an entirely different league than any other Star Wars game. Funny considering this thread is about the latest game in that series...

Actually, you know what... this'll probably be the first MMORPG that I'll ever subscribe to.
Going to wait until I actually see some gameplay first though.
It's certainly grabbed my attention more than any other MMO so far.

To bad about it beeing MMO.

What does PvP mean? Player vs player?

May have already been posted, but not that I saw. They've got a new trailer out.

Nice video, if a bit heavy on the slow motion. It would have been nice to see some gameplay, though.

It's been posted in this thread. Hell, it was one of the highlights of E3 for me. If you follow the link above your post you will be redirected to a recent gameplay video as well.

D'oh, fail on my part.

Yeah I did see the trooper video that shows a bit of gameplay, but I was hoping for more than that. So little on this has been announced or shown yet and it could easily be so very amazing or so very terrible and I can't decide which yet.

The game won't be out until next year. I bet there will be a lot of media and info on other classes out before release. The impression I got from the E3 previews was that it will be a story driven game. Not so sure about that. I'd like to know more about the 'massive' aspect of this mmo.

Did anyone read somewhere if there will be vehicles or even spacecraft?

Probably, but I am super impatient.

And really, I'm kind of expecting it to be story-driven, because it's Bioware, but at the same time, you could make the argument that World of Warcraft is story driven. But it's very easy to ignore, and regardless of it, 90% of the game still comes down to the same generic 5 types of quests. I'm hoping this will have more options.

Also, the only classes released so far are Smuggler, Commando, and Bounty Hunter. Are they not going to allow people to play as Jedi/Sith or are they just not going to spill the information on it yet?

It's not. KOTOR 2 is the best Star Wars game ever made. It's better than the movies, too.

I've only played the first one and it was great. Is the second one really better than the first?

I've just recently started playing the second one and I'm enjoying it more than the first. The characters are much cooler and the story is a lot better.

My only complaint so far is that the nature of the story makes the entire idea of going to the dark side kind of ridiculous. The entire plot falls apart if you start going down that road.

Also I'm bummed that I don't have the HK Bot from the first game in my party, but I'm working vigilantly to get him back.

So far, it is at least as good as the first.

I didn't play the first one and I just recently finished the second one, while it's a good RPG generally speaking, it does have several major plot holes.

They've already said that jedi/sith will be playable classes, it's just that people want to know about the other classes first.

KotOR II is brilliant but it has a lot of rough edges, especially towards the end unfortunately. You can blame LucasArts for forcing Obsidian to push it out the door before it was finished :flame:

I doubt that a lot. It'll be a marketing thing, they'll be saving the Jedi/Sith class reveal until later.

Bounty Hunters should have the option to be neutral instead of having to join the Sith Empire.
Same for Smugglers.

My guess is that you'll be able to do so through your dialogue options in the quests; say the republic asks you to move cargo for them, you can choose to do it for free or ask for a fee or even negotiate for more credits. First one makes you loyal to the republic, second one makes you neutral to a degree, third one makes you dick.

All this Old Republic awesomeness pisses me off when I remember its an MMO. Im already playing WoW just give me a single-player RPG god damn it :(

All this Old Republic awesomeness pisses me off when I remember it's an MMO, and immersions in MMOs are pretty much non existant, especially the popular commercial ones.

So far yeah, though if anyone can pull it off it's Bioware.

No-one can pull it off unless there's a shit-ton of GMs harshly enforcing RPing, including people staying in-character.

Sadly I'll never know if this game is good or not, because I'll never play an MMO. Were this a single player RPG it would be a no brainer day 1 purchase. Oh well.

That is why most games have RP servers. It would be bs to enforce roleplaing on all servers.

As far as I can tell from what Bioware has told about the game so far, this will be the most singleplayer MMO yet.

You said immersion. I didn't assume you meant "enforcing RP" by that.

Well for me, seeing kids run around typing "LOL" and stuff, kinda breaks immersion, it sure did in SWG at least.

Too early to say if that will even occur/be visible.

Of course it will its an MMO. The game will be fine until you cmon upon some sith warrior named "xXxCLOUDSEPHIROTHxXx".

Plus RP servers would suck because every sith player would be the same "dark brooding argh my dark and horrible past" character and every Jedi will be either Luke Skywalker or Obi wan.

They could go down the route Age of Conan did with their starting area, switching to a single-player instance for important storyline missions...

Interesting. I'd been wondering if this game would see the Unknown Regions or 'True Sith', seems a mite more likely now.

Well how the hell is that gonna work? Who says if it Revan will be good or bad? I haven't played that game in so long... or the sequel... I'm not really even in to the lore. Oh well I'll still play the game.

While each of the KOTOR games had multiple endings only one from each was 'canon'. i.e. KOTOR2 assumed the good ending from KOTOR, and SW:TOR assumes a good ending from KOTOR2.

That's the way most games with multiple endings do it, no?

Except of-course the Mass Effect series with its Your Decisions Matter™-system.

What's up with HK-47's voice at the end of the trailer? They couldn't get the old voice actor to come back?

wait,it will be linked whit kotor storywise?
