Starcraft 2: Multiplayer

I think it's a better alternative to spamming just to get your apm up. I think it's actually a pretty neat trick and you can notice the difference when watching the worker mine. I just hotkeyed all my workers and would press "c" for return when I wasn't doing something else.

you people whit your apm thing

"click around bitch ramdonly! click around!!!1"

Randomly clicking around doing nothing? Pretty much useless.

If you can sustain 200 actions per minutes, why not do it to gain extra minerals, other than just saying "Eh, I can't do it so it's stupid."

*NOTE* I'm on board with people who think it should be fixed to where the worker returns instantly be default.

I like to relax and see my workers working and buildings growing and such and them get I get destroyed :(

I don't do any spamming either. I've had too many misclicks so my workers stopped mining, or I forget to make an SCV :p

IMO, any advantages the game confers based only on APM should be conditional advantages, like the advantage of more precise troop maneouvering. But being able to basically slap a coefficient on your APM and say "you get x more minerals per minute than your opponent" is unfair. It undermines the focus on strategy and mindfulness and situational awareness that's crucial to Starcraft's gameplay.

tl;dr make workers return instantly

It doesn't matter

From what I've seen, the realistic value of return for the mineral trick is around half of the max, which is only 3.5%. Which also becomes increasingly impossible past the 10 drone count.

Don't expect this trick to have any large impact on any level of play.

Also Stigma, dont be flaming APM cause you ain't got none!

Hey when I was in the beta my APM shot up to like 350 when I was macroing my larva injections, back off :p

I agree it doesn't matter AT ALL in the long run.

I would still like the workers to return instantly.

If the gain was like 50 mineral in the first 2 minutes, that would be pretty awesome, but I don't even think you can get that much

You always want to be putting pressure on your opponent. And try your best to attack before him. Usually I play toss, and when you get 6 zealots, 4 stalkers, 2 sentries, and a void ray it's easy to take out any opponent. 3 gate and stargate.

EDIT: I'm not sure how many of you know this, but you can set your rally point on the minerals, or geyser, and your workers will go straight to the nearest open one and start working. I usually don't move my rally point from the minerals, and I micro my workers to build, then return and start getting gas or whatever. You don't want to single a worker out for building. Usually using this tactic my resource collection rate is way above everyone else's.

I don't seem to be able to defeat Zerg. Protoss is easy, Terran is just chaotic, but Zerg...

Q: Who is eligible to play on the North American servers? How much will this cost?

A: All players, including those in the regions of Hong Kong and Macau, who purchase the English Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand standard or Collector’s Edition of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will have the option of playing on the North American Battle.net servers in addition to the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand servers. The option to play on North American Battle.net servers will come at no additional cost to players who have purchased the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand version of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.

**** yes.

YAYYYY

This means an hl2.net tournament is in order.

oh wait, it's only Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand. No Europe I guess? ****

What.

Why not Korea? **** you blizzard.

I bet they are shuffling their feet to save bandwidth money. or something? jerks

It's funny how you're bashing them for taking a step in the right direction :p.

It's something that should have been included on release.

Nope. South East Asia usually means everything south and east from Thailand. Blizz is talking about English SE Asia so that is probably just Malaysia and Singapore. They do include Hong Kong and Macau though, but I guess that's because those two cities already are playing on the Oceanic servers.

Poor Koreans.

*EDIT* Wait, I'm kinda glad. I don't want letters to come over and school each and every one of us.

Started doing Terran as my main. Felt like 1.1 won't change Zerg that much. Just way too much work you need to do as a Zerg to beat some one, even a complete retard.

Why would they announce 1.1 changes like 30 years before it comes out? Are they changing a lot more than they said or just donig ass loads of testing first?

They still haven't even fully announced what is going on, just rumor patch notes. I'm curious what will really happen...

Also, I was maining Terran, but now I'm trying toss.

There are a ton of game updates in the patch. All of the balance changes though are as listed, except for the Siege Tank upgrade damage with previously was +5 is now +3(+2 armored) which I don't like.
The Siege Tank barely does more damage to armored units than the Immortal. I know it still does splash but armored units tend to be larger and take less from splash damage as a result. I wish it could reclaim some of it's glory from the previous one.

All the other balance changes I don't see changing much other than my mass reaper attack in large team games.

That makes sense to me, though. The reason for the change was that Siege Tanks were too powerful against cannon fodder units (lings, etc). They're now no less effective against armored units, but they don't hard counter tier-1 units as easily.

Biggest change is the game clock... I see that helping me out a lot.

The next thing to nerf is probably void ray build time, or damage. Thus far if you get 5 rays in under 10 minutes of a game, everyone is screwed if you know how to micro. Zerg are smarter now, though, with infestors, and corruption.

havent played multiplayer for a while, but the void rays are the same so maybe not,but I think I found that hydralisks are very good against mass void rays, off course tons of hydralisks

Hydras with a good creep spread makes Void Rays easier to manage, that's for damn sure.

I also think hydras have enough health to not get killed too quickly since massers of void rays put them to attack the same target

but well my results are mostly of killing more void rays before getting crushed but is better that whit mutalisks,or maybe those were not massing many void rays

also one questiong, there is tatics that are used very few but still used?

I mean, one time I was playing whit shaker we where preparing units so I could make a massive overlord drop on a enemy base
shaker went full air units and me ground units
was almost ready when we saw the enemy was incoming whit a mothership and dont know how many more units so I rushed the overlord drop and deal good amount of damage to the enemy that made them retreat theyr forces
they destroyed my attack force but we got enough units at base to repel any counterattack so we could beat them at the end

and I noticed I havent see anyone else using overlords to transport units, mostly cuz I havent played against that many zergs but also when playing whit a team didnt saw any use of overlords drop,so maybe that may be a advantage to use since the enmy may not expect it since everyone seems to follow same tactics?

overlord drop served me various other times but not allways, especially protoss massers that only put phase cannons in the entrance of theyr base and are not checking the rest of theyr base

I'm suspicious as hell of overlords moving toward my base ... but at the same time I don't really prepare for them.

I heard I cant load a save file after this patch, but still have the achievements and that sutff and misisons beated?

If you load your forces, lets say marines, to your medivac and the medivac gets stormed, do the forces inside take any damage? I've been watching a ton of terran replays and every time theres a storm, they just move the forces. Hell why not just load them to the medivac since it's instant.

Edit: Just to clarify I'm back home on my amiga computer so I can't try it :D
