Starcraft 2: Multiplayer

Just had a ZvT against a Terran who went MMM after scouting my spire/bane. And it was a damn hard match to play. Every time I killed all of his marines with banelings. I have to keep all units in different control groups, send lings to the back to surround, then move the banelings to the marines and microing mutas. What does terran do? 1+a, loses all his marines then just stims and goes to kill my expansions since my mutas can't kill marauders fast enough. RAGE :D

If you let a Terran get medivacs, it's basically over. Four medivacs with even a moderate amount of Marine/Marauder is essentially unkillable. You have to kill the medivacs first because the amount they heal is incredibly significant. If you're going to wait that long you might as well just lock down the expansions and win the war of attrition. Your best bet when you know someone's going MMM is to baneling bust the wall and swarm with speedlings. The mutas could kill the resource line while all that's going on... or take out medivacs.

The weird thing about medivacs is... they're pretty slow and they have really low health, but they tend to be the last things alive even against overwhelming forces.

Well I watched the replay and noticed that my spire went down way too late. I was able to kill like 3 or 4 of his pushes with just baneling/ling. In the end I only had like 3 mutas. Seemed like forever to kill one medivac with them :p

Like hell it's over. Sure, it's hard, but Fungal growth those ****ers and watch them explode. Baneling explode the rest. Take that 1-A-Click terran.

Got owned by one of these last night, because they threw a few Thors in to deal with the mutas. Like a moron, I let them bunch up and BAM it's over.

The only thing I really don't like about Zerg is how insufferably slow Hydralisks are off of creep. That needs to be fixed.

I think that Zerg is fairly strong but people aren't really playing it right. It seems like they need to be handled a bit more like SC1 Zerg in that they just need to expand and hang in there until they can get some tech out. TLO had amazing Zerg play that whipped up pretty good on Terran.
Infestors are such an amazing caster unit and they are vastly underused. You just need a good unit composition and from what I've seen it's just been people making ling/muta or roach/hydra.

Then again, I'm not really a top level Zerg player so I might be missing something that everyone else is not.

I think it's basically that Zerg is the most difficult race to play, between the 20-second spawn larvaes and the fact that instead of buildings, you have to divy up units between larvae, and having to utilize superior mobility for map control... I could go on. Terran sits on one base, chooses a build, and sticks with it. This is all at moderate play. With high-level play, I've seen a few top Zerg players bring up decent points regarding weaknesses... that are only really a problem if you play 10 hours per day.

That said, the reaper + zealot nerfs are exciting :D

Thors are fantastic vs Zerg... throw some helions in there and upgrade the shit out your armor... you'll cruise to victory. It's hard to make it there though. It's more rare to see an Infestor in a 1v1 than it is to see someone playing Zerg.

I don't want to be grumpy Shaker again, but it is completely logical that you see less people using Infestors than people playing Zerg in general. The other way around doesn't work.

Guess you've never played me.

FFA is so much fun. Just played a somewhat epic match in which people were moving bases constantly. No Platinum play here, but the replay should be entertaining. Most of the action is between 19:00 and 39:00, with a grand finale that ends in a game of hide and seek.

Hah, Purple was systematically destroying everyone while Shaker quietly made his ball, then dealt the fatal blow to Purple while he was out trying to exterminate a very resistant Teal. I felt like halfway through when things calmed down a bit, Purple got lethargic. An hour is way to long D:

I had so much luck in that game. And like you said, purple gave up at some point. The light blue chap didn't which resulted in him becoming second.

Oh, and I usually watch replays in 8x speed. Just slow down for the engagements. Especially one hour slugging matches like this one. :)

Finally decided I wanted to push through my 1v1 Placements *haven't done a single 1v1 until today...*

Came out 5/0. Was random each game, and was also Zerg.....FUUUU

IIRC, you don't start out as Diamond but start with Platinum and have to work your way up.

I was placed in Gold and am scared. I was expecting silver, best case. Oh well; I'll be demoted if it comes to that.

I think it's possible to go in to Diamond but you'd essentially have to have placements against 5 diamonds and win or something so it doesn't happen. At least I think that's how it works.

He'd be in Platinum. You can't get placed into Diamond you have to earn your way. I don't play enough 1v1 to get put there but the last guy was a Diamond play who I beat.
Going 5/0 in placement isn't all that hard. The biggest thing you have to worry about(but this applies to all matches) is facing lamers who try to win by cheese.

I've been playing 2on2 and my god! Is it always so damn boring? I mean the only thing I have seen is mass marine, 4 gate and mass roach. :D

It's pretty much the same stuff up to diamond for the most part.

There must be something wrong with me, I never really cared for Starcraft before but after watching a few streams and some replays I'm becoming more and more tempted by it's siren song.

Must resist, must wait until it's cheaper.

I used to love SC, but never really got serious into it. Then I started watching some Pro matches on www.gomtv.net, and I just got hooked....that's how they get ya!!

Lol GomTV has an English site that is actually readable.

This was my story too. I couldn't even wait until it got cheaper.

Wtf do you do when a terran gets BC's? I mean I steam rolled this terrans base, destroyed his expo and he still just annihilated everything with the bc's. I got like hydra/corruptor only army and still the fight wasn't even near, even with corruption going on all bc's. Soon as I got the corruptors he already had vikings coming. Pretty funny, corruptors were 1/1 and hydras 3/3. And I thought brood lords were awesome in late game.

They're nerfing BC ground attack so you can do the cool mass hydra attack. I figured mass corruptors could do the trick with their crazy massive damage bonus... but vikings would ruin your day.

With enough corruptors, 2-3 volleys of focus fire should kill a single BC. The only way you could have lost is if he just had more stuff than you did.

If they got air superiority which they probably do if they got mass bcs and vikings then there's not much point in getting corruptors which will just be cannon fodder for the vikings. Wouldn't just mass hydras be the way to go? If you've got some other ground units aswell then the vikings will be useless cause they'll get annihilated if they land.

Mass viking isn't too bad landed with BC support. It really is a difficult mess. Your best bet may be to widdle down their HP with as little loss to yourself as possible. Maybe constant fungal growths on then while unburrowing...just to keep them stopped and taking a bit of dmg, then bring in your mass hydra when they are good and dmged.

Toss seems to have no counter against terran MMM. Sure you can go colusus but then he gets vikings and then what? Just seems to be a problem to me.

Vikings can't take down 5+ Collossi fast enough to save MMM. When Protoss does get Collossi and HTs, there's nothing much you can do with MMM. Ghosts, maybe.

I go Marine + Banshee early on, instead of MMM now.

Yeah HTs can beat them. Enough Stalkers with a few zealots can do the trick too if you macro pretty hardcore for mass and do a little micro. Hell, enough void rays kill anything. The key is killing the medivacs as soon as you can because otherwise they'll heal the shit out of everything.

Gamereplays, pfft. sc2replayed.com is where it's at.

That was a pretty good replay ktimekiller. I want to play some rounds and take some lessons from you!
